As soon as I finished speaking, Helena's brow raised with a hint of disgust as she coldly replied, "Miss Parks, are you threatening me?
She paused and then added, "I know you think I ruined the relationship between you and Alex, but isn't the problem with you? If you two truly had a strong bond, how could Alex's heart have room for me?"
Hearing her response, I couldn't help but smile.
She was clearly trying to provoke me, but looking at her pale face with no color and the bandaged wrist wrapped in layers of gauze, if this wasn't a hospital, I'd almost think Helena was just acting again.
Seeing that I didn't respond, Helena continued, her tone smug, "Miss Parks, Alex means a lot to me, and I'm just as important in his heart. So, you can try all you want to make me disappear from his life, but the only way that will happen is if I die."
"Well, if he cares so much about you, why hasn't he married you?" I leaned closer to Helena, raising an eyebrow as I slowly spoke, "You've even tried to kill yourself, so why hasn't he come to see you?"
"Alex will come."
The smug look in Helena's eyes instantly turned into a cold and sinister glare, no trace of the pitiable expression remaining.
Deep down, she knew exactly why Alex hadn't picked up the phone—he was deliberately avoiding her.
That was why she had resorted to trying to force him to show up by threatening to kill herself.
But my arrival seemed to have disrupted her plans.
'Does she take me for a fool?'
Perhaps right now, somewhere nearby, paparazzi were hiding, waiting for me to lash out and give them something to report on.
Then, Helena would step on my shoulders, playing the victim to garner sympathy. However, this "little sister" persona she's built for herself might not last much longer.
She would surely go to any lengths to turn the current situation around and break free from her predicament.
Unfortunately, I was in a good mood today and didn't want to fight.
"Then just wait and see if your Alex will even acknowledge you," I chuckled softly. "Don't rush, maybe one day when he suddenly remembers you, he'll reach out. You think you know him, but you've forgotten one thing: what he dislikes the most is being threatened. Of course, that's except for me."
"Laurel, do you think Alex doesn't want to divorce you because he still cares about you? To put it bluntly, it's only because of the child in your belly. Without the child, you're nothing," she shouted.
Bang! The door to the hospital room was suddenly thrown open from the outside, followed by the sound of hurried footsteps.
Before I could even make out who was approaching, a woman in a black dress quickly walked up to Helena's hospital bed.
She grabbed Helena's injured wrist with force, sneering as she spoke. "Helena, you bitch, let me see if this wound of yours is real or fake."
"Queenie, have you lost your mind?" Helena exclaimed, her voice sharp with disbelief.
Helena seemed completely caught off guard by Queenie's sudden entrance, her face showing a brief moment of shock.
She reached out to push Queenie away, but she had clearly overestimated her own strength.
Having been pretending to be ill for so long, she couldn't possibly stand a chance against Queenie.
Queenie glanced at me, and I wisely took a step back, conveniently closing the door behind her.
"Queenie, let go. You're hurting me." Helena frowned and her voice trembled slightly.
"How come you didn't feel pain when you tried to kill yourself? When you were seducing others, did you ever think about the consequences today?" Queenie said as she raised her other hand and slapped Helena across the face.
I lazily watched the scene unfold, trying to minimize my presence as an observer. Otherwise, I'd really want to cheer for Queenie.
My phone suddenly vibrated with a text message.
Sent: "Not sure if you like my gift, Miss Parks."
I had initially thought that exposing Adrian's identity online was his way of showing sincerity, but I hadn't expected Queenie to be the real surprise.
I simply replied: "Yes."
I knew that Kent's people were likely nearby, otherwise, he wouldn't have sent me that message.
I hadn't expected Queenie to be Adrian's girlfriend.
However, the Brown family was on the brink of bankruptcy, so I figured Adrian wouldn't continue his relationship with Queenie for much longer.
Now that such a scandal had emerged, even if he didn't want to marry Helena, it would be difficult.
But there were also advantages to this situation—it gave him the perfect excuse to break up with Queenie.
With Queenie's personality, she couldn't let it go so easily.
When she saw the photos of Helena and Adrian posted online, she must have immediately realized that the man who was in bed with Helena was none other than her boyfriend.
Originally, she probably planned to turn a blind eye to it, but didn't expect to be forced into a breakup.
So, she angrily stormed to the hospital, intending to give Helena a good beating.
By the time the nurse and others rushed over after hearing the cries for help, Helena was already covered in bruises, her hair in disarray.
Her clothes were torn by Queenie, exposing her bare skin. When she realized what had happened, she hurriedly grabbed the blanket from the bed to cover herself.
"Slut, why are you covering yourself? Is it necessary?" Queenie sneered, her eyes filled with malice as she mockingly spoke, "You already got exposed online for your promiscuous behavior in bed. What's the point of covering up?"
Helena looked at Queenie in disbelief.
"You want to marry into the Reynolds family? Try again in your next life!" Queenie spat the words, then walked straight toward the door. She subconsciously glanced at me before leaving without looking back.
I was slightly stunned.
At that moment, I saw Helena's already pale face turn even paler.
I also noticed the bandaged wound on her hand, which was nothing more than a small scratch.
There was no need for a bandage; a simple adhesive bandage would suffice.
How laughable, attempting to play the victim while being so careless.
I opened my phone, and the entertainment news had just pushed Helena to the top of the trending list.
Before I could click to view it, I saw Helena wiping away the tears from her face and glaring at me with pure malice. "Laurel, what kind of grudge do you have against me? You... you actually sent someone to hurt me and slander me."
She then turned her head, eyes filled with tears, and looked at the nurse beside her, who was comforting her.
"I'm calling the police."
'Damn, I really wanted to curse. Helena's ability to turn the tables was impressive.'
I was not afriad of the police.
The bigger the scene, the more it would destroy her.
But what I didn't understand was where her confidence came from, thinking she could drag me down with her.
I raised my head indifferently and looked at her disdainfully.
"Slap!" A heavy slap landed on Helena's face, and I curled my lips into a smirk. "I don't need anyone else to deal with you. If I were you, I'd stay at home and avoid embarrassing myself any further."
She paused and then added, "I know you think I ruined the relationship between you and Alex, but isn't the problem with you? If you two truly had a strong bond, how could Alex's heart have room for me?"
