I snorted at Kailyn's words.
She glared at me hatefully, but there was nothing she could do. She knew very well that it was Austin who attacked me first, while she simply stood by and watched.
She had even taken some pleasure in it. She just hadn't expected that I would actually fight back and hit Austin, who was taller than me.
Moreover, He didn't even get a chance to fight back before I beat him until he was covered in blood.
I stared at her resentful and angry face and said casually, "If you're not convinced, I'll call the police for you."
Hearing my words, Austin's pale face turned even paler.
He knew very well that if I called the police, not only would he lose face, but the Parks family would too.
Despite the commotion, neither Maddox nor Alex had come out. This could only mean one thing. No one cared about what had happened.
Austin knew very well that Maddox would never let anyone call the police.
After all, I'm his biological daughter, and family scandals should not be aired in public.
Besides, this kind of incident happened right after his engagement to Kailyn. And on top of that, I was his elder. If I disciplined a junior, even if the police got involved, they wouldn't actually lock me up.
Maybe, if I lost my temper, I might just spill everything that should and shouldn't be said.
Especially about him and Rosemary. Even if there was no evidence, the media liked to chase rumors.
The public controversy had only just settled down. Austin wasn't foolish enough to stir it up again.
By the time Alex came out, Kailyn had already returned to her room.
What surprised me was that, even though Austin had moved into the Parks family estate, he wasn't living with Kailyn.
From the looks of it, he had yet to sleep with Kailyn. No wonder he tried so hard to curry favor with the Parks family.
I was curious to see just how long Austin, a man with such an ingrained sense of male dominance, could swallow his pride and endure.
As for Kailyn, just because she wasn't sharing a bed with Austin didn't mean she was still pure.
Back then, she had forced a female classmate to take explicit photos, which led to the girl jumping off a building and ending her life. The incident caused an uproar.
It was said that the girl's parents swore to seek justice for their daughter, yet less than three months later, the matter was forcibly suppressed. Even related reports vanished entirely from the internet.
Later, when I secretly looked into it, I discovered that the Parks family had initially tried to settle the issue with money, but the couple refused to comply.
Those with nothing to lose aren't afraid of those with everything to protect, but unfortunately for them, they had offended the Parks family, who held sway over both the legal and the underground worlds.
No matter how hard they fought, they could never find any evidence to prove that Kailyn was the mastermind behind it all.
Moreover, the Parks family sent people to bribe the father's mother with money.
In less than a month, the father who originally insisted on seeking justice for his daughter completely gave up his fight, all because of his blind filial piety.
In the end, he divorced his wife, and the wife lost her mind.
She lost the only daughter she had raised and was then betrayed by her husband. The double blow drove her insane.
Kailyn had been bullying the weak since she was young.
What was worse was that she didn't even let them off.
One of the younger students spoke up because he couldn't stand her bullying other students.
In the end, he was falsely accused of assaulting a female classmate, expelled from school, and sentenced to eighteen months in prison.
But the boy had done nothing at all. He couldn't understand how there was evidence proving a crime he never committed.
Kailyn had been wicked since childhood and completely fearless. After all, she always had someone backing her up, handling everything for her.
That person was none other than Isaac.
With someone like him covering for her, a woman as deceitful and ruthless as Kailyn would never possibly be innocent.
The next morning, when I woke up, I saw Alex and Maddox sitting at the dining table. Kailyn was there too, looking gentle and obedient as she sat across from Alex. When she saw me appear, she flashed me a warm smile, as if she had completely forgotten everything that had happened the night before.
I hadn't seen Melody all morning. It wasn't until after breakfast that I overheard the butler and servants whispering. That's when I found out that she had rushed back to the Shepherd family estate right after the engagement banquet. Apparently, her grandfather's health had taken a turn for the worse.
As for Isaac, he had left for the office early in the morning.
Isaac was probably the only one in the entire Parks family who worked tirelessly from dawn till dusk.
I let out a soft sigh and glanced at Alex, who was still sitting in the room, leisurely sipping coffee and chatting.
It was as if he was planning to stay at the Parks estate indefinitely
Just then, Kailyn walked up to me. Before she could say a word, I cut her off. "Don't bother me. If you have nothing better to do, go find your fiancé."
Hearing this, Kailyn smirked. The bright sunlight cast over her, making it hard for me to read her expression.
"Laurel, do you really think just because you're sitting here, you're part of the Parks family? Let's be honest, you're just a bastard."
Kailyn lowered her voice, her tone gentle, yet each word was like a blade stabbing straight into the heart.
Anyone else would have exploded in rage. Too bad she was dealing with me.
"Oh? What did you just call me?" I asked.
A flicker of cruelty flashed through Kailyn's dark eyes, as if all she needed was a knife in her hand to tear me to pieces.
I took a deep breath and spoke slowly, my voice laced with quiet mockery. "Kailyn, your mother was the mistress who forced her way in. So tell me, who's the real bastard here?"
"But does anyone even remember your mother? Does anyone know who she was? She got lucky and died early. Otherwise, seeing you crawl back to the Parks family just to chase wealth and power would've killed her from anger," Kailyn said.
I laughed coldly. "Kailyn, don't worry, I will make you beg for death. As for your mother, she hasn't paid off her debt, so she naturally can't die. After all, even the King of Hell finds her disgusting to give birth to a disgusting thing like you."
Kailyn glared at me with a twisted expression. She had never suffered such humiliation before, yet she had no choice but to maintain the facade of a gentle, well-mannered, and cultured wealthy lady in front of Alex and Maddox.
"Laurel, I'll definitely kill you. I'll cut off your flesh piece by piece and feed it to the dogs!"
I narrowed my eyes and sneered. "Kailyn, you've killed so many people. Aren't you afraid that the heavens will strike you to death? No, if they want to strike, they should strike your parents."
After saying that, I took a deep breath and lazily let out a yawn.
Kailyn stared at me with a dark gaze, as if she wanted to pounce on me and devour me completely. Unfortunately, she was not my match at all.
The reason why I stayed in the Parks family was to completely anger her.
After all, humans would only reveal flaws when they were angry.
