                    Arthur's POV
Their disappointed faces quickly changed to that of annoyance as I led Sierra to a couch. No, I didn't help her to take a seat. I sat instead, then I guided her to take a sit on my laps.
Sierra, quickly realizing what I was doing, tried to get up, but I held her waist, keeping her firm on my lap. Gently, I moved the strands of her hair away from her ears and leaned in.
“Stay,” was my only word to her.
She didn't relax, but she stopped struggling, and that was all I needed. “What is the meaning of this?” Dad asked, his tone filled with so much anger and resentment.
“She came to visit me, and now she is seated. I think it's best she joins this conversation, don't you think?” I said, a sly smile on my face.
“This is a family discussion, and she is not family,” Mum argued.
“But she is the reason I've chosen to give up being Arthur, the biker. So maybe if you apologize, I might change my mind,” I said, and they quickly went pale.
Not just my parents, but Sierra as well.
I squeezed the side of her waist gently to assure her. “We will not apologize to this slut,” Mum pointed with resentment.
“I advise you to be mindful of your words, Mum. I have a short fuse,” I told her.
She held back, glaring at Sierra. “Son, what do you see in her? She cheated on you with some biker on Christmas, and you still cling to her. What exactly did she do to you?” she said, her gaze softening on me.
“She did nothing but be herself. There is nothing else I can ask for,” I said.
“She can never be a Floyd,” Dad sounded.
“I don't think I'll need your permission to do that, Dad,” I said with a smile.
His anger rose, displaying on his quickly reddening face. Whatever they were planning, it was stupid of them to think I would easily fall for it. “Son, we aren't trying to impose anything on you. All we are saying is she is not the right one for you. Not only is she a divo-”
Mum held his arm, stopping him from saying what would only annoy me more. Mum sighed, turning to me. “You really want to be with her?” she asked.
I hummed. “I love her. Only her would I be with,” I said.
They stayed quiet, weighing their options. Whatever was going through their head, they seemed to have come to a conclusion and turned to me. “If we allow you two to be together, would you let us back into your life?” Mum asked.
“This is not a negotiation, Mum. I would be with her with or without your permission to do so. The only permission I need is hers,” I turned to Sierra, giving her a warm smile.
“We want to be back in your life, son. What can we do to achieve that?” Dad said, gently.
It was the softest and most foreign sound I had heard in years. I stared at both of them. Were they serious right now? After everything they did, they expected me to just… forgive?
Cause it washes away what? My isolation and my pain? “To accomplish that, you'd first do one thing for me,” I said.
Mum's eyes snapped wide, excited. “Tell us. Anything. We would do them all,” she said, and I could only smirk.
“Leave,” I said, and her smile vanished just as it came.
“What? You-”
“I said leave,” I interrupted. “Leave to the city you love most. The city you both left me for. I want you two to stay there. Away from me. Not cause any more trouble for me,”
“We wouldn't cause any more trouble. We promise. But if we leave, how can we spend time with you?” Mum said.
“I don't need you to spend time with me. You aren't speaking with a five-year-old who yearns for his parents' love. I'm over twenty-five, Mum. You and Dad flopped, bringing me up and tossed it to my grandfather. Worse, you two resented him because he let me do what I wanted, and you expect me to just fall into your arms because you promise 'change'?” I paused, watching their guilty expressions.
“I don't need it anymore, Mum. You two have broken any chance of that happening,” I added.
“But-”
“No buts,” I raised my hand. “Just leave,”
“If we leave, will you get back to racing?” Dad asked.
I stayed silent for a moment, then smiled. “I never left,” I said, and that was all I was going to say about that.
They looked at me with puzzled expressions, then rose from their seats. “We'll leave the village, but we would stay in touch, okay? Your dad has taken down all the videos about you and Sierra.” she smiled at me, and in her eyes filled with hope that I would smile back.
Once she saw it wasn't coming, she sighed, dropping her gaze. “We will try our best to make things right again. I know it might seem later than we should, and we are to blame for it, but better late than never, right?” my father smiled, and it seemed genuine.
I wasn't completely stoic to their resolution for change, but I couldn't trust them. I couldn't trust what they had planned, and my hurt for years cannot be washed by a simple 'I'm sorry'.
It needed more, and right now, I had no idea what it was. And maybe I would never know. I could live this life without them. They left without me giving them a second glance.
“You sure know how to put me in your games, Arthur,” I heard Sierra say.
