Arthur's POV
I could sense the anger in his voice, but I did not understand why it was directed at me. “Chill, man, why are you threatening me?” I asked.
“Where the fuck is Sierra?” Jackson asked.
“No idea. Isn't she your sister?” I said, trying my best to seem nonchalant as I helped myself with some clothes.
It was unlike Jackson to use this method to test me, but I could not give out the fact I had texted her. Even then, I would still not be able to know where Sierra was.
“Don't fuck with me, Arthur! Where is she?” he reiterated.
“I haven't set my eyes on her since I left the house that day,” I said. “Wait a minute, what happened to Sierra?”
The more I spoke to him, the more I was trying to convince myself there was nothing wrong with Sierra and Jackson's words, only confirmed it. He drew a sigh.
“Sierra is missing,”
My heart sank. My mind went blank for a second. “What do you mean, missing? Wasn't she at home? You told me she locked herself in her room and refused to speak to anyone,” I said.
“She stepped out of the room today. She was about to have breakfast, but then she left the house with Shelly and…” he paused.
“Have you seen Shelly today?” he asked.
“Your girlfriend? No,” I replied.
“That's not right. Shelly told me she left Sierra with you at the resort.”
That was a huge allegation. As much as I wanted to speak with Sierra, using Shelly was the least of my options. She was Jackson's girlfriend, but I never liked her.
Partially because she sucks up to my parents, one of the many things I hated. She was like some spy and I would not want someone reporting by every move. It would be a big issue if my parents found out about Sierra. “I haven't seen Shelly, neither have I seen Sierra,” I said.
“Were you at the resort? I know you had a meeting scheduled for today,” Jackson asked.
“Yes, the project went through, but… hold up,” I said, picking up my smartwatch and called Amelia.
“Yes, Mr. Floyd,” Amelia said, ever ready for a task.
“I need you to check the security footage for Shelly and if she came in with anyone,” I instructed, and she went on with it.
Ending the call with Jackson, I paced in my room, waiting for Amelia. She called back after a couple of minutes. “Sir, I just sent in the footage. She came in with a lady but left without her,” she said, while I watched the footage she sent.
I quickly sent it over to Jackson. “The lady left alone but—” Amelia trailed off.
“What?” I was growing anxious.
“Just after the lady left the resort, the accident occurred. I can't get a good angle of the accident due to the camera's position,”
I quickly ended the call, rushing out of the room. There was an accident just after Sierra left, and now she was missing. Does that mean...
I didn't want to think of the worst right now. She was fine. She had to be fine. I got out of the resort, to the scene of the accident. There was a pool of blood before a damaged car but no body.
I walked over to the police that was just rounding up interviewing someone. “Hey officer, who was hit? Any identity?” I asked.
The officer shook his head, shoving his jotter into his pocket. “The lady's face was disfigured by the crash. We haven't been able to identify her yet,” he responded and walked away.
I quickly called Amelia. “Find Sierra. Check the local hospitals. Everywhere,” I ordered before shoving the phone in pocket.
My eyes went to the bloodstained road, and I shut my eyes. Sierra must be fine.
The bar was buzzing at this time of the night. It was currently close to midnight, perfect for a business like a bar and the festive season. The moment I stepped in, I was greeted by the manager. A usual occurrence.
“This way Mr. Floyd,” he gestured, but I wasn't interested.
I waved him off, my eyes scanning the area. It has been hours since Jackson called me and even now, no one had seen Sierra. I could not sleep, not when she was not in any hospitals.
“Hey, Arthur!” one of my guy friends yelled from his table, waving at me.
“Come join us,” his companions chorused.
If it were a normal day, I would gladly join them, but not today. I took a step further, and I was surrounded. “Arthur,” the lady drew my name, batting eyelashes at me.
She tried to touch me, but I held her wrist, tossing it away from me. This sent a completely different message to the others as they seemed they had a chance, so they tried the same thing.
I opened my mouth to speak, and that was when I caught of a glimpse of her, slouched on a stool with her head on the counter. She was drunk. Before I could react, a man took over the empty stool beside her.
The smile on his face and the way he looked at her made my blood boil. The man said something, but the music was just too loud to get anything. Sierra said asked him to leave. Even though I could not hear her, she gestured with her hands for him to do so but the man did not seem ready to leave.
And then he touched her.
He fucking placed his hand on her.
Without thinking, I matched over. “Arthur,” one of the ladies around me tried to grab me but was too slow.
I grabbed the man by the shoulder. “Hey, who the hell tries to spoil my fun?” he turned to me.
“Hey, go grab some other whore. This chick is mine,” he dared to say.
Within seconds, I sent a hard punch to his face.
