Arthur's POV
Everything I had planned for the day was duly canceled. It was not as important as what Sierra's mother had planned for me. She was the sweetest, and she knew to help me.
As much as speaking with Sierra, I didn't want to push for a date yet, but Sierra's mother thought otherwise and planned it, only informing me of where she wanted it to be held.
Excitement was an understatement of how I felt. Reserving a whole lounge, I was sure she was going to like it. I had on my best suit, I needed to look my best.
The date was scheduled for 3pm and by 2pm, I was seated, waiting. The door burst open, and my eyes roamed the lady's frame. “I think you have the wrong table,” I politely informed her once she got to me.
She nodded, giving me a simple smile, then headed back out. However, only two steps in and she fell. I sprung up, grabbing her just in time. “Are you fine?” I asked.
“Very much,” she finally spoke, wrapping her fingers around my neck and pulled me in.
I was taken aback but was quick to stop her from getting her lips on mine. This wasn't new but a little different from others. She was bold, I would say. She did not seem to mind my refusal and didn't take her hands off me either.
“I'm Yvonne,”
Her voice died down as something crashed at the door. My heart skipped a beat and my eyes widened, spotting Sierra, who had tears in her eyes. Shit!
“Sierra,” I muttered, but she was gone the next minute.
I ran after her, trying to stop her, but the lady dared to grab my hand, stopping me. I had so much I wanted to say, but she was not important. Shoving her to the side, I went after Sierra, but she was already in a cab and off the premises.
I called and sent text messages, but she did not respond to any. I could not stop, I could not keep calm when she must have gotten the wrong idea. I knew she did. That look in her eyes told me that. “If she’s gone, I don’t see a reason you should be worried about her,”
I faced the speaker, growing angry just by staring at her. “Who the fuck are you?” I asked, my voice barely hiding my annoyance.
She smiled, walking over to me with her hips swaying a bit too much and batting her eyelashes. “I am Yvonne,” she said, trailing her fingers on my chest. “Your fiancée,”
I grabbed her wrist, fighting the urge to smack some senses into her. “You must be mistaken, Miss Yvonne,” I forced my tongue to be calm. “You are not my fiancée.”
She chuckled, waving her hands. “Our parents decided our engagement, remember?”
My father has always been adamant about planning my engagement. He always claimed it was meant for an alliance. Right from the moment I could talk, that was all I heard from him. Occasionally, Mum always sends me pictures of the said lady.
Over the years, it has barely changed. A few times Mum would ask my opinion on other ladies but with no response from me, they only went with their first choice. So I knew for a fact, this crazy lady before me was definitely not my supposed fiancée.
“I’m going to say it one last time, you are not my fiancée and I do not want you appearing before me ever again, understood?” I warned, before walking away.
I once again called Sierra, but she refused picking up. After another unanswered call, I sent a message.
_Sierra, it’s really not what to think. Please pick up and let's talk._
I watched the screen for a few minutes and she read it. She typed for a second, then stopped, but no message came in. I sent another message.
_Let’s meet at the bar? 7pm._
She read it in a second but still did not respond. I drove my hands into my hair, staring at my phone, hoping that she would say something. At six, I was at the bar, waiting. By 6:30 pm, I chose to be at the entrance, watching everyone that came into the building.
My gaze occasionally drifted from my phone’s time to the gate. It clocked seven and then eight and nine, but there was no sign of her.
_Sierra, please let me explain. I have nothing to do with her._
I sent yet another text message, and it was met with the same fate; silence. I leaned on my car, my heart tight with pain. Could I go to her instead?
That thought floated around my head for a long time. I chose against it instead. My phone rang, and my heart skipped, thinking it was Sierra. “Hello, Si-” the words died down when Mum spoke.
“Arthur, sweetie. Guess who’s in the village? Your fiancée. She has spoken to your father, and he has decided to speak to the team and get you back in the race. You just have to meet with her tomorrow, okay?” she said and, without letting me speak, she ended the call.
I got into my car, sighing. I should have been careful. I didn’t expect something like this to happen. Driving back home was turmoil. It took everything in me not to drive over to Sierra’s house and speak with her, but I didn’t want to push her right now.
She needed some time and I would have to give her that. A day, just a day and I would go to her to explain. I needed to get her to understand. Arriving in my suite, my phone buzzed, a message came in.
_Arthur, I think we shouldn’t speak with each other anymore._
My heart dropped. Quickly, I tried calling, but it ended after a ring. Two more tries and I sent a message, but it didn’t go through.
She blocked me!
