Arthur’s POV
“This establishment is nothing but trash! How dare you treat me this way?”
“You will all regret this. And I hope you will be ready for it. First time choosing to take part in your lousy race and this is how you treat a star. You sure are going to lose customers soon.”
“We really hope you can understand, sir. You were completely rude to a customer and you continue to be rude. Please leave, or I would have to call security,” the manager said as nicely as she could come up with.
“You all are-“
“Leave the premises, Dexter,” I interrupted, walking over to him.
The manager gave me a warm greeting, and I gestured for her to return to her office. I could tell how exhausted she was already. There was no need to keep her here for someone this irrelevant.
“If it isn’t the boss,” Dexter teased, sizing me up.
“Leave,” I ordered, my voice flat.
Dexter scoffed. “And they said this sham of a place has the best services,” he said. “It’s the worse if you ask me,”
“It can be the best, but not for you anymore. You are causing a ruckus in my establishment. Leave. If I choose to call security myself, I won’t let go of the opportunity of beating you up,” I told him.
“Ah, right,” he snapped his fingers. “Now, I understand. You are doing this just for revenge, isn’t it? Because you know your girl will certainly come to me.”
I clenched my jaw at his words. Sierra wouldn’t. I trust she wouldn’t, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t scared that she would. Maybe to spite me. After all, she seemed to have been withdrawn ever since this morning.
“In your dreams if you think you can ever have a shot with her,” I said, my hands clenched in my jacket’s pocket.
I tried to keep a neutral expression. It would only make him more smug if he realized how much he could work on my mood by bringing up Sierra. Dexter chuckled. “It’s funny of you to think I want a shot. I want to fuck her. I want to make her forget all about you and watch you beg for her attention.”
My hands flew out of my pockets, my fingers wrapped around his throat, my grip tight. Dexter smiled, finally getting a reaction out of me. “I always win, Arthur,” he said.
Pulling him by the shirt, I took him out of the building and tossed him out just in front of the building. The security guards tried to step in, but I held out my hand, stopping them. Dexter quickly got off the ground, laughing.
“It seemed the Arthur has gotten someone else in mind now. Fine, I’ll have sex with her and give her back. How about that?” he said, a smug look on his face.
He knew what he was doing, playing with my emotions, knowing where it fucking hurts most. My gaze bore into him but he was unfazed, uninterested, like he knew I wouldn’t do much to him, at least, something good that would last a lifetime.
“Stay away from Sierra,” I said, warning in my tone.
“And what if she comes to me? You know, I don’t care about a girl’s reputation so long as she lets me hit.”
The way he spoke has never changed in the years that I’ve known him, instead, it only worsened. It became more disgusting and vulgar. “Come on, man, don’t look at me like that. It’s not my fault you can’t keep your ladies. I’m just better than you. Stephanie confirmed it and now, Sierra will,”
I went for his throat, this time not being lenient. He tried to pull me off him as his face turned redder, but I didn’t care. I felt like exploding inside, and it was all because of him. “Get Sierra off that mouth of yours. I don’t care what you had with Stephanie, but Sierra is mine. You will not get your dirty hands on her,” I said, finally letting go of his throat.
He coughed, rubbing his neck. “This is my last warning to you, Dexter. I would not give you a breather if you repeat this bullshit again,” I warned.
He laughed like the maniac he was. I didn’t bother with more words, as I knew it would only fly over his head. However, I knew I would have to do something to get him on his knees one way or the other.
I turned around and headed back into the lobby of the building. Only a few steps in, and I heard him speak. “Sierra, you sure have the best timing. I knew you know I am better than Arthur,”
I halted in my tracks. His voice was so loud it seemed he was trying to get my attention, rile me up, but I doubted Sierra was here. She would not come to him. At least not in the way he wanted it.
I really wanted to turn around and head back out there, but if she wasn’t there, wouldn’t that mean I was playing into his manipulative game? I took a few steps forward, but I could not go any further.
I could not let it go when there was a possibility Sierra was out there with him. Just a peak, to be sure. I didn’t need to make my presence known. And if she was there... I would do nothing.
If she wanted him, then I would just have to let her be. The closer I got to the entrance, the louder I heard Dexter’s voice. “Everything he can provide for you, I can for you. Listen, I didn’t want to say anything until our one and one, but I think I really like you,” Dexter's voice was gentle.
I knew that tone well. He was playing the emotional game. “I’m glad you made the choice that benefits you. Before we get down to business, why don’t we have some food? I know a really good restaurant,” Dexter said.
So far, I hadn’t heard Sierra’s voice. He was messing with me. I scoffed, turned around to head back, and then I heard it. “Um… I,” Sierra was reluctant.
“Come on, cutie. I promise it would be fun,” Dexter urged.
“Alright fine,” Sierra said, and my initial plan went out the window.
