                    Sierra’s POV
“I don’t know much about Arthur, but I at least know a bit through what the media posts. You need to not let those girls get the better of you. I know they will be a lot. Those ladies are as shameless as they can be, but you have a fucking advantage; he is into you. They want to scare you off and they will keep trying. If you don’t grow a spine, they’ll get the better of you,”
Eve’s words echoed in my mind as I walked out of the restaurant. A paused a few steps away, spotting Arthur leaning on his car parked just at the side. Once he spotted, he stood erect, with a wide smile on his face.
As I approached, he opened the passenger door and pulled out a large bouquet of flowers. They were made up of different types of flowers. “This is a lot of flowers,” I commented, staring at the piece in my hands.
“I could not make out which one you liked, so I got two of each,” he said. “Shall we?” he motioned for the seat.
I nodded, getting in. “You know you didn’t have to go alone with what Eve wanted you to,” I said while he drove.
“I know,” he responded.
“Then why did you?”
“Partly as an apology for my behavior last night and I wanted you to know how I feel,” he said, passing me a glance every now and then.
“Aren’t you bothered it would go on the internet? A few people took videos,” I said, watching his expression, but nothing changed.
“Why should I be bothered? I love you and everyone got to find out my sincerity. Maybe it would be less of a burden to you,” he said.
I said nothing more, but occasionally looked his way. His words made my heart flutter, but that was his charm. Eve’s advice about using him would certainly fall flat on my face if I tried. He was just too good.
We arrived at the venue, but I had no idea what awaited us within. The security at the entrance bowed as we walked past them at the entrance. Once in, my eyes widened. “A ballroom?” I turned to him.
He nodded. “You don’t like it?” he asked.
“I’m not exactly sure what we are doing here,” I admitted.
“To dance,” he snapped his fingers and a slow song began playing the background.
He gave out his hand. “Do you mind being my dance partner?” he asked.
I shook my head, taking his hand. His other hand circles my waist, pulling me closer as we moved to the beat of the music. In only just a minute, I stepped on him and quickly moved away.
“I’m so sorry. I really don’t know how to dance,” I said.
“You were doing well a second ago,” he said. “But,” he stepped closer, pulling me in again. “I don’t mind you stepping on me,”
“Why did you pick a dance for our date?” I asked.
“Isn’t it obvious?” he said, and I shook my head.
“One, I want to impress you with my dance skills and two,” he tucked the strands of my hair behind my ears, bringing his lips closer.
His hot breath fanned on my ear, sending shivers down my spine. “I really want to hold you as much as I can,” his voice was low.
His eyes came on mine, and for a moment, my gaze dropped to those lips of his. I leaned in, eager to take his lips, but the moment he leaned in as well, I turned to the side. He smirked, realizing what I had done.
“Bold,” he whispered.
He knew what he was doing. “I like this version of you,” he added, stroking my face.
“I can’t always be drunk,” I said, and he raised a brow.
“How many glasses?”
“A bottle and a glass,” I responded. Returning to the balcony with Eve made me take more than I had planned.
“Or maybe you are using that as an excuse,” he pointed out.
“Could be,” I smiled, looking away as we resumed dancing.
With every step, I felt lighter and more relaxed around him. Not like I was ever tensed, but sinking in what Eve had told me. “What do you like to do, Sierra?” Arthur asked. “I barely know most of your likes. I’ll like to start there,”
For most of my years, I had one thing I loved and I still do, even though I was scared to do it. Vance’s words tried to cloud my mind again, but I shook it off, just before it could. Arthur waited and watched me as I contemplated telling him or not.
“You’ll find it… useless,” I told him.
“Anything you love cannot be useless,” he said, but I could no longer continue dancing.
I moved away from him, forcing a smile. “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to,” he said, but I knew I needed to.
I’ve ran away from it for far too long and maybe if I spoke about it now, I would find it in me to continue. Arthur snapped his fingers once more and a curtain at the side parted. A man rushed over with a bottle of water.
Once handed to Arthur, he opened it and passed it to me. I took a sip and felt relatively better to speak on it. What more could I lose? It wasn’t as though he was going to ask to see them. I was just letting Vance win over me yet again if I keep silent.
Just before I could speak, Arthur beat me to it.
