                    Sierra's POV
My eyes rested on Rider K, barely looking at the path I ran through. My heart raced, watching him get closer and closer to the finish line. When I got to the line, my chest rose and fell with exhaustion.
A gust of wind pushed past me as Rider K crossed the finish line. “And Rider K is the winner!!!” the commentator screamed, followed by the crowd.
Rider K got off his bike in minutes, and the support staff took his bike. I rushed over to him and his hands were spread, ready to take me. He rubbed my back as I inhaled his familiar scent.
“You scared me so much,” I said, remaining in his embrace.
I feared his stubbornness got his parents to win. He had worked so hard. This was a simple race and a victory here might seem insignificant, but it wasn't.
I could hear the whispers of people around us, but I didn't care. I almost lost my shit sitting there, and now I was going to let go of those tense muscles.
“Just taking all the great bikers, huh?” Dexter said, taking his helmet off.
“I'm glad you know that he is greater than you,” Jackson joined us, with Elvis at his side.
“If she is so into bikers, then I should be her type, is it not?” Dexter said, shamelessly.
I heard someone clap at the side. All eyes went to the direction. I stiffened at the sight of Arthur's parents walking over with his mother clapping as she glared at me.
“You are the reason my son is mad at us and you are here hugging some other man,” she said, her glare so much so on me if eyes could kill I would drop dead.
I glanced at Rider K, who still had his hands on my waist. “We never misjudge someone. You are nothing but a divo...” she held her tongue, seemingly still conscious due to Arthur's anger yesterday.
She sighed. “You are not fit for my son and he still cannot see it, but with this, I am sure he would understand that we are doing this for his good,” she said.
“You have a thing for bikers, right? My son was good in your eyes, so you set your stakes on him. Now that there is someone else that seems better than him, you have gone for him,” Arthur's father said calmly, gesturing at Rider K.
“I can beat him in a race, Sierra. I was only being nice earlier. What do you say, Rider K?” Dexter said.
“He isn't so shameless. Accept defeat, Dexter,” Jackson said before Rider K could speak.
“You made my son cut ties with us. You will pay for this,” Arthur's mother said. “I will make sure he sees your true colours,”
“He is Arthur,” I finally spoke.
His mother laughed, his father only showed a hint of shock and Dexter, his eyes were close to falling off. “That's a lie. That good for nothing can never be Rider K,” Dexter said.
“You sure know how to lie. My son would only answer Arthur. He did it for his grandfather. He would not use something else,” Arthur's mother argued.
“Why would he hug me then?” I asked, glancing at the man who only pulled me even closer to him.
His mother scoffed. “Because you both are shameless. Maybe you two have been hooking up behind Arthur's back and now that he pulled out, you decided to get rid of him. I will never forgive anyone who hurts my son,” she said.
“I might not have known Arthur for long, but I know he is the one, right?” I turned to Rider K, but he only stared down at me without a word.
“We'll make this simple. Name your price to leave my son,” Arthur's father said, his hands behind his back. “Arthur is stubborn and I know even though you have publicly embarrassed him, he would be adamant. Name your price to leave this village and be far away from him.”
“And if I reject this offer?” I asked.
“You insolent bitc-”
I turned my face to the side with my eyes closed as I waited for her slap, but it didn't come. Opening my eyes, his mother's hands hung in the air as Rider K held her wrist in place.
“You dare touch me!? I'll ruin you!” she yelled.
Jackson stepped forward. “Mrs. Floyd, you might have a lot of influence, but Rider K is backed by the President of the states. You can't touch him unless you want to lose everything,” he said.
The blood drained from her face. She glanced at her husband, who was very good at hiding his emotions. He always knew how to recover quickly. “So that's why you cling to him? Because he would give you something my son can't?” Arthur's father asked.
“That's not true,” I said.
“I believe, Mommy,” Elvis said with a pout.
All eyes turned to my little boy. “Uncle, I made you a scarf. Try it,” he said, gesturing for Rider K to bend over.
Rider K squatted as Elvis took out his knitted scarf. It wasn't perfect, but that didn't matter. Elvis wrapped the scarf around his neck. “Do you like it?” Elvis asked.
Rider K nodded, feeling the scarf with his fingers. “How sure are you he is Arthur? He has remained silent all this while,” Arthur's father said.
“I trust mommy,” Elvis said and Arthur's mother scoffed
“Like mother, like son. Shameless,” she muttered.
“I am right,” I said, glancing at Rider K once again, hoping he would say something or take his helmet off, but he said nothing.
“Fine then. Let's ask Rod,” his mother said.
Rod walked over to where we stood, scanning the faces of everyone. “Tell us Rod, are you Rider K's manager?” she asked.
Rod smiled. “It is well known Rider K has no manager. He walks directly with the government,” he said.
Arthur's mother smiled, turning to me. “See? Why would Arthur work without a manager?” she said.
I turned to Rider K. I couldn't have been wrong, right? The helmet he had on, I had seen it in his closet. Could I have made a mistake?
My heart drummed in my chest as that thought rang in my head. “Oh, I spoke to Arthur. He is fine,” Rod said, and I felt my heart sink.
Did... did I just make a mistake?
