There was quiet shuffling at the door, and murmurs filtered through from the other side.
"I told you she would want a full bath," Trini muttered, before there was a soft knock on the door.
Maya stood at the other side, a small bag I assumed to be shampoo and its associates in her hands as she offered me a soft smile.
"Here. Oh, and you can use the shower instead of the bath," she suggested and I nodded, but just before I closed the door, she stopped and said,
"And use hot water, it'll make you feel better." She had slipped into her Doctor voice and all I could do was smile and shake my head.
"Why would I use cold water when I feel like shit? Hot water all the way," I let out, and I heard Trini's high pitched chuckle.
Maya closed the door herself, and I was left alone with the goodies she bought me. Sure enough, there was shampoo and conditioner with other body care products that I always said I wouldn't use everyday, but today was not one of those days.
I placed the bag on the sink as I turned to survey the bathroom, not fully sure whether I wanted to use the bath or the shower.
I just stared blankly, admiring the bathroom's layout and thinking that patient's in this hospital must really be enjoying it, even though being in the hospital isn't something to laugh about.
I was getting into the shower when it came to my mind that what if other rooms weren't like this, and this was some VIP kind of room, because the more I looked around, the harder it was for me to believe this kind of facilities were in every room.
I filed that question at the back of my mind to ask Trini later.
Showered and changed, I got out just to see Trini and Maya were still in the same spot I had left them.
They heads turned my way when I cracked the door open, and their gazes lingered on me as I stepped fully into the room.
"You look really nice," Trini stated and I felt my face burn at the compliment.
"Thanks."
"Do you want me to get a blow dryer for your hair?" Maya offered and I shook my head. My hair was already seventy percent dried, and that was after a greulling towel section which left my arms sore and throbbing, but looking at the finished result, it was worth it.
I stood limply to the side, not knowing what to do since I wasn't a patient anymore, and I couldn't just hop back in bed and get hooked up to all the machines.
Trini grasped came to my side and grasped my hand as she led me out of the room, Maya just behind us.
"This is where I'll have to leave the both of you since I still have rounds to do through the words," Maya said after we had gone a few halls down. She made a turn to the left and disappeared down the hallway, her shoes clacking on the polished floor.
Alone now, Trini sped up our pace until we got to a part of the hospital that wasn't just white walls and ceilings.
"Are you ready to finally get out of here?" She asked, one of those her knowing smiles plastered across her face.
"Yes... And no," I said truthfully, her question reawakening the nerves I had tried to ignore.
"Hey, relax. People are friendly on the most part, you don't have to worry about anything," she reassured me again, just like before.
"Thanks."
Instead of suppressing my nerves like I had been trying to, I gazed at the colorful walls of the hospital and tried to let it calm down naturally.
"This part of the hospital is really beautiful, it doesn't even look like it's a part of it," I muttered, and Trini's eyes swept through the place in one swoop.
"It doesn't. But I heard the person who designed it had a knack for unusual things," Trini informed.
We got into an elevator and Trini had pressed the button that took us straight down, and that made me realize that I had been placed much further up than I thought.
We stepped out I told what was a reception slash waiting area and Trini lead me straight to the exit. A pair of double doors which right now looked intimidating to me.
Breathe, Wyn. It's just people, you'll be fine, I gently whispered to my subconscious as we stepped into the sun.
I forgot my fear as my breath was taking away at he view. We were still at the front of the hospital but the view was something out of a picture.
The front of it was a small field, colorful trees winding within it. And from where I stood, my eyes picked up a few figures dressed in hospital gowns walking around it, some were sitting and talking, while others hung under the shade of the trees.
"Oh, this field is where most patients take their walks in to stretch their legs and get good all vitamin D in them," Trini stated, answering the question that I hadn't asked but was going through my mind.
"It's gorgeous," I responded blankly, before she led me in another direction.
I looked back at the hospital, impressed with it's size, because most packs didn't have such. They usually had clinic sized ones with just a few rooms on hand. Only certain packs like this one, and a select others had such buildings that could boast of being a full fledged hospital.
The pack house came into view and it immediately came to my mind that it looked like a mansion. Dark blue hues, large windows, it looked like a dream. It easily surpassed my old pack house's appearance and I hadn't even seen the inside of it yet, but I had a feeling it would be even grander than the outside.
We had gotten to the front of the pack house when Trini stopped and said,
"Are you ready for your surprise?"
"Surprise?"
