Luciano's POV
We were driving down the highway, the pack house just a few miles away. Victor was chatting away, oblivious to the road ahead.
Suddenly, a car swerved into our lane, and I slammed on the brakes. Victor's eyes widened as we skidded to a stop just inches from the other car.
"Whoa, what the...?" Victor exclaimed, his voice trailing off.I let out a deep breath, my heart still racing. "Who's that?" I muttered, shaking my head.
The other driver, a young woman, got out of her car, looking shaken. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry! I wasn't paying attention.
"I got out of the car, inspecting the damage. Luckily, it was just a scratch. "It's okay, just be more careful next time.
"Victor got out of the car, stretching his legs. "Yeah, no harm done. But maybe you should get your eyes checked.
"The woman laughed nervously. "Yeah, maybe you're right.
"I nodded at her. "Just be safe, okay?"
She nodded, getting back into her car. We watched as she drove away, then got back into our own car.Victor turned to me, grinning. "Well, that was fun."
I rolled my eyes. "Not exactly the excitement I was looking for.
"We both laughed, continuing on our way to the pack house.
As we drove away, Victor turned up the volume on the radio, and we both sang along to the music. The tension from the near-accident dissipated, and we were back to our usual banter.
We pulled up to the pack house, and I could feel the familiar energy of my pack. We got out of the car, and I stretched my arms, feeling the warm evening sun on my skin.
I walked away from the parking lot while Victor still inspecting if the car had any more damages.
I turned to look at Victor "Victor let's go.... we have more work to do" I exclaimed, Victor raised up his head and gazed at me, before walking towards me.
We reached the pack's house exit door and two guards slightly bowed welcoming us,
"You....." I said with command etched on my voice, the guard lowered his gaze, "We bought some paintings and artefact from the national art gallery... go pick them up" I said, the guard bowed slightly.
We walked through the hallway and up the stairs, and into my room Victor followed me in and shut the door behind us.
I went yo the wardrobe and pulled off my tie Andy wristwatch, I loosed about few buttons on my hair and went to sit on the small couch in my room.
"Hey Victor how's the preparations going?" I asked with a hint of smile on my face.
"I forgot to ask... where are we using for the ceremony? Is it the pack's town hall? or is it the pack house?" He asked sternly.
"The pack house would be better," I replied. He brought out his phone, and his eyes were locked on it as his fingers flew across his phone.
I stood up from the couch and went to my bed. I leaned on the bed frame and shoved my hand into my pocket. I brought out my phone and turned it on. My phone beeped as a text message popped up on my screen; my eyes wandered through my phone as I tapped on the text message.
"Good day, Alpha Luciano... Be at work tomorrow very early at 8." I read along; the sender's number was not saved on my phone.
I briskly touched my phone as I copied the number; I went to the Truecaller app and pasted the number into the autofill.
"Clara?" I was shocked. How did she get my number? I thought.
Victor walked to the couch and sat down. "What happened to Clara?" He asked. He had overheard the way I shouted her name in shock."Nothing happened to her; she just texted me that I should get ready for work so early," J said with a weird expression on my face."That means there's a lot of things she needs us to attend to early," I asked. Victor nodded. "Yes, I'm sure," he said sternly.
I groaned, "More work!" I said and texted her back saying, "Ok, I'll be there."
As I gazed upon my phone, swiping through different messages of other people, my mind remembered about Lunawyn.
I turned to Victor, whose eyes were locked onto his screen. "Have you seen Lunawyn?" I asked. He turned his gaze to me. "No, I haven't. We came into this building at the same time," he said sternly and shifted his gaze back to his phone.
"Let's go check her room," I said, but a frown immediately formed on Victor's face. "I can't go with you... I need a rest." Victor said, "Ok.. I'll go see if she's in her room" I replied leaving the room, I walked down the stairs walking towards Lunawyn's room, I knocked sternly on her door with one of my hand in my pocket. I knocked for minutes and there was no response, just then a maid walked by.
She bowed slightly and greeted "Good day Alpha Luciano", I waved as she raised up her head to leave I stopped her
"Wait.. do you know where Lunawyn is?" I asked with a hint of command in my tone.
"Yes sir.." she paused, and raised up her head to look at me "she's in the library" she added, my eyes lit up "library?" I asked she nodded.
I looked at her surprise "you can go" I said, I walked to the pack house exit door and stood on the first staircase, I held my waist, as the fresh breeze hit my face.
I walked down the stairs, my eyes fixed on the library door. I hesitated for a moment, wondering what I would find inside. I took a deep breath, pushed open the door, and stepped inside.
The library was dimly lit, the only sound the soft rustling of pages. I scanned the room, my eyes adjusting to the darkness. And then, I saw her. Lunawyn was sitting at a table, her head bent over a book.
"Lunawyn!"
