Lunawyn's POV.
I raised my head as I heard my name from behind; I tilted my head slowly to see who that was.It was Alpha Luciano; a hint of a smile formed on my face. "Luciano," I said silently. He walked towards me, his footsteps quiet on the carpet. As he approached me, I looked up, my eyes locking onto his. I smiled, a soft, gentle smile
."Luciano," I said again, my voice barely above a whisper. He smiled back, taking a seat beside me. "Lunawyn. What are you doing in here?"
I shrugged, my eyes returning to the book. "Just reading. I needed some time to myself.
"He nodded, understanding. "I know how that feels."
"I've been here too about some day ago." He said, his voice calm,We sat in silence for a moment, the only sound the rustling of pages.
As we sat there, Luciano finally broke the silence. "Lunawyn, I'm sorry I haven't been spending much time with you lately," he said, his voice sincere. Maybe he has realized that he had been neglecting me lately, I thought, but neglecting was not the right word for it; he had just been busy.
I smiled, my eyes sparkling. "It's okay, Luciano. I know you're busy. But I appreciate the apology.
"He smiled back, feeling a sense of relief. "I promise to do better in the future.
"He stood up from his seat, his eyes locking onto mine. "I'll walk you back to your room," he said.
I looked at him surprised, then the expression immediately turned to a smile. "I'm not done reading yet," I replied.
"Ohhh... I didn't even think about that... Actually, I was reading a book here before. Let me just go find it and continue reading it," he said. I nodded as he left.
I watched him look for the book, his hands driving through the shelf; soon he drew out a book, a heavy one, a little dusty and old.
He turned to look at me. "I've seen it," he said, and walking towards me, he sat down and dropped the book on the table.
It made a loud bang and brought out some fumes of dust. I quickly rubbed my nose, avoiding myself from sneezing, but I couldn't hold myself.
My sneeze echoed around the library. "Sorry..." Luciano said, concerned, as he shoved his hand into his pocket and brought out a handkerchief, "Take it; use it to wipe your nose," he said, and handed it over to me. I took it from his hand and wiped my nose.
"Thanks," I said with a warm voice. He looked at me affectionately. "No problem," he said, building an uncomfortable tension around us... our eyes were still locked onto each other.
"So what's the name of the book?" I asked, trying to drive the uncomfortable tension around us.
"I don't remember," he said, and turning the book to the hard cover, I gazed at the title, "How to Rule a Pack... hmmm," I said.
"The book pages aren't complete; they were torn, and I'm very sure my father was behind it," he said. I giggled a little. "How are you sure it's him?" I asked.
"I'm sure... because this boom was written by my grandfather's brother. So after my grandfather was him... maybe he kept some important knowledge for himself," I said with a serious expression.
"Ok... maybe these pages held important knowledge," I said, trying to escalate more on the issue.
"Yes, I'm sure… my grandfather's brother is a gifted man... his paintings and artifacts were all over the art gallery," he said.
My eyes widened in shock. What a unique gift: writing and art, I thought.
"And guess what? I bought all of his paintings I could see in the art gallery," he said.
A hint of a smile formed on my face. "That's thoughtful of you," I said and turned my gaze back to my book, reading through the lines.
He opened his book and started reading too. After some minutes he dropped the book. "Oh goodness, this book is just talking about one thing repeatedly, but in different words," he said with a stressed expression.
"Looks like someone can't be consistent," I said with mockery etched in my tone.
"I am consistent just that the…" He stopped. "Let me see," I said and dragged the book from his hand; my eyes widened in shock.
"You're still in preface..." I paused; he took the book from my hand to confirm for himself, "You haven't even started the book; preface isn't necessary; it's just talking about some stuff," I added.
"Ohhh," he said as he had just realized. When was the last time he read a book? I thought and stared at him with a weird expression.
I shrugged and continued reading. Soon I was done; I sighed in relief and stood up from the chair, putting my hands on my waist as I moved sideways to free myself from the cramps I felt around my waist because of sitting for so long.
I turned to look at the window; the sun had disappeared; it was already night.
I turned to Luciano; he was already at chapter five. I was impressed, because I normally thought that boys didn't like books at all.
"Sorry for getting you wrong… you're consistent," I said and nodded in satisfaction.
He turned to look at me. "Thanks," he replied.
"It's already dark. I want to go to my room," I said. He closed his book and stood up.
"Let me escort you to your room," he said.
I nodded, smiling. "Thanks, Luciano."
As we walked out of the library, I felt a sense of determination. I would do better, starting now. Luciano walked me back to my room, my mind racing with thoughts and plans. As he said goodnight to me, I smiled and locked "He does really care for me," I said, and I walked to my bed. I lay on it, feeling a sense of relief.
