                    Luciano's POV
"Ok sir, I'll get them lined up on the third floor," Clara said and left the room. Victor turned to look at me with a weird expression. "Have you forgotten you employed your cousin brother?" He asked.
I've totally forgotten. "Yes... I didn't even think about him since that day," I said and went through the paperwork on the table. They were all new paperwork. They were just printed yesterday, and the past apertures I filled in were printed two days ago. That meant that Clara had been to my office.
Why didn't she just settle in here, I thought, as I dropped the paperwork back on the table? I shifted my gaze to Victor, and I saw him; his eyes were locked onto his phone screen. I spun my chair back and forth as the minutes went by.
Just then Clara came in. "Sir, they are ready," she said. "Ok," I replied and stood up. I straightened my tie and walked past the door. Victor followed behind me, even Clara.
We walked through the hallway, our footsteps echoing off the walls. The sound of murmured conversations and typing on keyboards filled the air. We passed by several offices, each one filled with busy employees.
As we approached the elevator, Clara pressed the button and the doors slid open. We stepped inside, and Clara pressed the button for the third floor. The elevator lurched to life, and we began our ascent.
The ride was smooth and quiet, the only sound being the soft hum of the elevator. Victor checked his watch while Clara fidgeted with her hands. I simply stood there, my eyes fixed on the doors.
The elevator finally came to a stop, and the doors slid open. Clara stepped out first, followed by Victor. I brought up the rear, my eyes scanning the hallway. We were on the third floor, and the hallway was lined with offices and conference rooms.
Clara led the way, stopping in front of a large conference room. "They're in here, sir," she said, gesturing to the door. I nodded, took a deep breath, and pushed open the door.
As I scanned the room, my eyes landed on a familiar face. My cousin brother, Henry. The same person who had betrayed me in the past. I felt a surge of anger, my face twisting into a scowl.
I shifted my gaze to the other employees, trying to compose myself. "Alright, let's get started," I said, my voice firm. "I'll be accepting each of you individually. Please, come forward when I call your name."
The employees nodded, and I began the acceptance process. Each one came forward, shook my hand, and received their welcome package. It was a smooth process until I got to Henry.
I hesitated, my eyes locked onto his. He looked up at me, a mixture of fear and pleading in his eyes. And then, he dropped to his knees.
"Luciano, please," he said, his voice shaking. "I know I was foolish in the past, but I've changed. I swear to work side by side with you, to prove myself to you."
I looked at him, my mind racing with thoughts. I had every right to turn him down, to make him pay for his past mistakes. But something about his words struck a chord in me.
"How can I trust you?" I asked, my voice firm.
Henry looked up at me, his eyes filled with tears. "I know I don't deserve it, but I'm asking you to give me a chance. I'll do anything to prove myself to you."
I looked deep into his eyes, searching for any sign of deception. But all I saw was sincerity. And pity. I pitied him for being so foolish in the past.
"I'm not going to lie, Henry," I said finally. "I'm still angry with you. But I believe in second chances. So, I'm going to give you one."
Henry's face lit up with relief, and he scrambled to his feet. "Thank you, Luciano," he said, his voice filled with gratitude.
Victor, on the other hand, looked like he had just seen a ghost. "Luciano, can I talk to you for a second?" he asked, his voice low.
I nodded, and we walked to the side of the room. We bent our heads, whispering into each other's ears.
"Are you sure you know what you're doing?" Victor asked, his voice skeptical.
"Yes, I'm sure," I replied, my voice firm. "I believe in second chances, Victor."
Victor nodded, though he still looked unsure. "But what about what he did to you?" he asked.
"I'm not going to hold it against him," I said. "Besides, I think he's learned his lesson."
Victor nodded again, and we turned to leave. But before we could, Henry stopped us.
"Luciano," Henry said, his voice trembling. "I miss you."
And with that, he threw his arms around me, hugging me tight. I was taken aback, but I hugged him back, feeling a sense of closure.
"It's okay, Henry," I said, my voice soft. "You're home now."
As we hugged, I could feel the tension in the room dissipate. The other employees looked on, some with curiosity, others with understanding.
It was a new beginning, not just for Henry, but for all of us. And I was determined to make the most of it.
"I'm glad you're back, Henry," I said as we pulled away from each other.
Henry smiled, looking relieved. "Me too, Luciano. Me too."
I smiled back at him, feeling a sense of hope. Maybe, just maybe, we could put the past behind us and start anew.
"Alright, let's get back to work," I said, clapping my hands together.
The employees nodded, and we began the rest of the acceptance process. It was a long day, but I was determined to make it a successful one.
As the day drew to a close, I looked around at my new employees. They were all eager to start working, and I was eager to see what they could do.
"Welcome to the team," I said, smiling at them.
They smiled back at me, looking relieved and happy.
