Luciano's POV.
I sat there staring at my phone like it was the one thing that could tell me where they were. My mind was spinning, just trying to figure out what the hell was happening. I couldn’t stop pacing. I grabbed my phone again and tried calling Victor one more time, but nothing. Straight to voicemail again. My heart was pounding now.
I threw myself back on the bed and stared at the ceiling, frustration rising in me. What had happened to them? Where were they? Was something wrong? I ran a hand through my hair, trying to shake the gnawing feeling that something was off. This wasn’t like them. None of this was normal.
I stood up again and started pacing the room. My mind kept jumping between scenarios, but none of them made sense. Victor and Clara? Both gone? Not a single clue. My gut told me something bad had happened. My thoughts kept running wild, and I couldn’t make sense of any of it.
I walked over to the window, looking out at the quiet grounds below. The sun was shining, but it felt like the world around me was just... still. Too still. Something wasn’t right.
I grabbed my jacket off the chair, not even thinking about what I was doing anymore. I needed to do something, anything, to figure this out. I couldn’t sit here, waiting for answers that weren’t coming. I needed to go back to the office, back to the place where it all started. Maybe there was something I missed. Maybe there was a detail I hadn’t noticed.
I made my way to the door, my heart beating louder with each step. As I walked down the stairs, the silence in the house pressed in on me.
I walked towards the exit door. I reached the exit door, and I stepped outside; the cool air hit me, and I climbed into my car. The engine roared to life as I sped off. My mind was all over the place, thinking about every possibility. What could’ve happened to them? Were they in danger? Or had they just... left for some reason I didn’t know about?
The drive back to the office felt endless. The roads blurred together, and all I could think about was Victor and Clara. I didn’t even know what I was looking for when I got there, but I knew I had to do something.
I could see my company from a distance. I drove to the company at full speed. Because they were my people from my pack, they were my responsibility.
I finally pulled into the parking lot and parked the car. I didn’t even take a moment to breathe before I rushed inside. The place was still empty. Nothing had changed. The security guards were still at their posts, but they didn’t have any more information than before.
I marched through the hallways of the building, my footsteps echoing in the silence. I was running on pure instinct now, just hoping that I’d find something, anything, that could explain what was going on.
I entered the elevator to the last floor.
The door slid open, dropping me at the last floor. I jumped out of the elevator and rushed towards Clara's office.
I got to Clara’s office again, my hand on the doorknob, but I hesitated for a second before I pushed it open. Her office still looked the same. Still a mess. Papers all over the place. I walked in, checking everything again. But this time, I noticed something. There was a piece of paper sticking out from under the desk. I bent down and grabbed it, unfolding it quickly.
It was a note.
The handwriting was messy and rushed. I read it, my heart racing as I took in the words: “I’m sorry. I had to go. Something’s wrong. Don’t look for me.”
My hands trembled as I finished reading it. It didn’t make sense. Clara wouldn’t leave like this. She wouldn’t just vanish without a word.
I ran a hand through my hair, trying to understand. What the hell was this?
I stuffed the note in my pocket and walked out of her office, heading straight for the elevator. I needed to check something. Anything. Maybe it wasn’t just them missing. Maybe there was something going on with the whole damn building.
The elevator doors slid open, and I stepped inside, pressing the button for the first floor. The doors closed behind me, and I waited as the elevator descended. My mind was going wild with thoughts—where were they? Were they okay?
When the doors opened, I walked out of the building towards the parking lot, hoping to find something, some sign, that would make sense of this mess. I scanned the area, my eyes darting around, looking for anything that could give me a clue.
That’s when I saw it. A black car parked in the far corner. I recognized it. It was Victor’s.
My heart stopped for a moment. Why was his car here? He doesn't park his car in the pack house so why was his car here? Why hadn’t he answered his phone?
"Or was he leaving some clues for me?" I said to myself.
I rushed over to the car, my hands shaking as I grabbed the door handle. It was unlocked. I pulled it open, my breath catching in my throat as I looked inside.
The seat was empty, but something caught my eye on the floor—a small, crumpled piece of paper. I bent down and picked it up, unfolding it quickly.
It was another note.
“I’m sorry, but this is bigger than you think. It’s not safe here. Clara is not safe too, but I got everything under control.”
I felt like the air had been knocked out of me. This was getting out of hand. Victor had left, too. And now this cryptic message? What the hell was going on?
I stood there for a moment, my mind racing, my heart pounding. I had no answers. No clues. Just these damn notes. Something was happening, and I needed to figure it out. Fast.
I looked around again, but the parking lot was still quiet, still empty. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was missing something. I had to find them. I had to understand why they were both gone.
I couldn’t just let it go. Something told me this wasn’t the end of it.
