Victor's POV.
"Hey, Laura… So you brought Luciano along?" I asked, sarcasm dripping from my tone.
I was pissed. No, beyond pissed. This was the last thing I wanted. Is Luciano aware of this place? That wasn’t part of the plan. Not even remotely.
"Why did you bring him?" I asked again, this time more seriously.
Laura shifted uncomfortably, glancing at Luciano before turning her worried gaze back to me. "He was worried," she admitted. "He's still worried about the messages you sent."
I furrowed my brows, arms crossing over my chest. "This place was meant to be a secret," I reminded her. "For secret investigations. For things that weren’t meant to be known by outsiders." My voice was low, but firm.
She opened her mouth like she had something to say but then closed it, hesitating.
"I was concerned about his well-being, Victor," she finally said. "You should be too. You can't just push him out of all this and still claim he's your Alpha, your protector." Her voice was rising now, her words rushing out like she had been holding them in for too long.
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. Her eyes were lit with concern, and for a moment, I felt the weight of her words. But I couldn’t just back down like that.
"Letting him out was already part of the plan," I muttered. "If he had come out by himself, we’d all be dead." I paused, then added with a small smirk, "Well… maybe except for you."
Laura didn't look amused.
I turned to Leo. "Hey, go bring him out," I instructed, then raised a finger, "but first, plead with him if you don’t want to come out as meat."
Leo nodded immediately. "Okay, sir, I’ll do as you said," he replied, then turned and walked toward the door. I watched him closely as he reached for the knob.
But before he could even twist it, the door popped open.
And there he was.
Luciano stepped out, looking like he had been through hell and back. But it wasn’t the exhaustion that caught my attention—it was the look in his eyes.
He was pissed.
I rushed toward him. "Hey, man," I said, trying to gauge his mood.
He let out a short chuckle. "Did you really think you could lock me up in there for an hour?" His voice was laced with amusement, but there was an edge to it.
"You need some water," I told him, signaling for one of my men to bring him some. He looked like he needed it.
"Aren’t you angry?" I asked cautiously.
He let out a slow exhale, then nodded. "Yeah, I’m angry," he admitted. "But not as much as before."
Then, a small smirk curled his lips. He turned slightly, motioning toward the room he had just walked out of.
"I already poured a generous amount of my anger on that guy," he said. "You guys should go help him… or he won’t even survive a minute in there."
With that, he walked past me, heading straight for Laura.
I rolled my eyes, suppressing a groan, then hesitantly stepped toward the room. A part of me didn’t want to go in—I already knew it wasn’t going to be a pleasant sight. But I had to see what he had done.
And the moment I stepped inside, my breath caught in my throat.
My eyes widened as I took in the scene before me.
The man I had assigned to keep Luciano company was tied to the chair, his body slumped forward, ropes digging deep into his flesh. Blood seeped from the cuts where the restraints had bitten too deep, staining his clothes and pooling slightly beneath him.
The ropes weren’t just wrapped around him. They were tight. Unforgiving. Twisting into his skin like they were meant to become a part of him.
He was trembling. Weak. His breathing is shallow.
I let out a slow whistle as I walked up to him, crouching down so I was at eye level.
With two fingers, I lifted his bloody chin, forcing him to look at me. His eyes were hazy, unfocused—but there was something else there. Something… hidden.
"Why did you mess with Alpha Luciano?" I asked, my voice calm but firm.
His cracked lips parted, and he struggled to speak. His voice came out hoarse, barely above a whisper.
"I… was just following orders…"
I tilted my head, watching him carefully. Then, I shook my head slowly.
"Nah, nah, nah," I muttered. "You went beyond orders. You did something more. Something that triggered his anger."
He clenched his jaw but said nothing.
I sighed, tightening my grip on his chin just slightly. "Luciano cares about his people. A lot. So he wouldn’t just do this to you unless you did something very wrong." My voice dropped lower. "So tell me… what the hell did you do?"
He swallowed thickly, his body trembling even more.
But he didn’t speak.
He just stared at me, eyes clouded with something I couldn’t quite place.
And in that moment, I knew He was hiding something.
Something big. And whatever it was… It was going to change everything.
The room felt colder all of a sudden. Or maybe it was just me.
I kept my grip on the guy’s chin, watching his eyes closely. He looked scared, but there was something else buried deep in that fear. Something he wasn’t saying.
I let out a slow breath. “Look, man, you have two choices,” I said, my voice calm. “You tell me what you did, or…” I glanced at the ropes digging into his flesh, then back at his face. “We leave you here a little longer. Let the ropes do the talking.”
His breathing hitched. He was trying to stay strong, but I could see the fight draining out of him.
Still, silence.
I clenched my jaw. “You think I won’t do it?” I asked, tilting my head. “You think I won’t let you rot in this chair?”
