                    Victor's POV.
I stood there for a moment, staring at Luciano, my mind still racing about the shipment. The weight of what he had done, what it could mean—it pressed against my chest like a heavy stone.
But then, something shifted. Clara.
I hadn't forgotten about her, but everything with the shipment had momentarily pushed it to the back of my mind. Now, it came rushing back full force. Henry had her. And if I knew him as well as I thought I did, he wasn’t planning to keep her alive for long.
I turned to Luciano. “Let’s go save Clara.”
He rolled his eyes, looking like he was about to argue, but then something flickered in his gaze. A realization, maybe. Like he just remembered how much Clara had done for him. For all of us.
He let out a breath. “Alright,” he said, his voice quieter this time. “Let’s go save her.”
I smirked, glancing at Lunawyn before whispering under my breath, “Maybe he finally realized Clara’s actually useful.”
Lunawyn let out a short laugh, shaking her head. Luciano shot us both an unimpressed look, but he didn’t argue.
Instead, he asked the real question. “How do you know where she is? How do you even know Henry took her?”
I folded my arms, leveling him with a look. “Because I don’t sit around waiting for information to come to me. I had my men watching Henry’s movements—especially after the last stunt he pulled. And when they saw him making some weird moves, I had them follow him.”
Luciano arched a brow. “And?”
“And,” I continued, “they saw him take Clara.”
His jaw tensed slightly. I knew he wasn’t the type to show his emotions so easily, but I could tell the thought of Clara in Henry’s hands was making his blood boil.
Good.
Because I needed him to be all in on this. We couldn’t afford distractions.
“Let’s go,” Luciano said again, more determined this time.
We moved fast. Inside the cottage, I pulled up the GPS, our eyes locking onto the small red dot blinking on the screen. Henry’s movements.
“There,” I said, pointing to the screen. “That’s where he’s holding her.”
Luciano and Lunawyn leaned in closer, scanning the map. It was a remote area, not too far from the docks.
I turned to my men. “I need you positioned here, here, and here.” I gestured at the key locations surrounding the area. “We’re going to make this as clean as possible. No unnecessary noise. No mess. We get in, we get Clara, and we get out.”
They nodded, immediately moving to get into position.
Luciano cracked his knuckles. “What if Henry tries to pull something?”
I met his gaze. “Then we remind him who he’s dealing with.”
He smirked. “That’s what I like to hear.”
Once everything was set, I gestured for Luciano and Lunawyn to follow me. We left the cottage, heading straight out of the forest.
After a long walk, we arrived at the private road, our vehicles waiting there.
We had a long way to go before we hit the private road leading into the forest, but every second counted.
As I drove, my fingers tightened around the steering wheel. I was already running through every possible scenario in my head.
Henry wasn’t stupid. If he took Clara, it meant he had a plan. And if he had a plan, then he thought he had the upper hand.
That was his first mistake.
Because tonight, I was making sure he learned exactly how wrong he was.
We arrived at the edge of the forest far away from the pack itself, like we were in another territory. The headlights cut through the darkness. I killed the engine, stepping out of the car while my men moved into their positions.
Luciano came up beside me, his sharp eyes scanning the area. “So, what’s the plan?”
I turned to Lunawyn, "You don't have to be here, but please be careful." She nodded, "I guess I'll stay in the car," she said.
I smirked. “We’re going through the front door.”
His lips twitched. “My favorite kind of plan.”
We moved quickly. Silent. Shadows in the night.
The first guard didn’t even see it coming. I grabbed him from behind, yanking him into the darkness before slamming his head into the wall. He crumpled like a ragdoll.
Luciano took out the next one with a single, precise blow to the throat. No noise. No struggle.
I studied their faces; my instincts told me that they were not from this pack; instead, they'll be from our rival pack. Because Henry is always friends with our rivals.
We reached the main door. I pressed my back against the wall, signaling to Luciano.
"On three. One. Two. Three," I whispered.
I kicked the door open.
Henry spun around, startled, but he recovered fast, yanking Clara up by the arm.
“Ah, Victor,” he said smoothly, dragging her in front of him like a shield. “Right on time.”
Clara’s eyes met mine, wide but steady. She was scared, but she wasn’t breaking.
Good girl.
Luciano stepped in beside me, his expression unreadable. But I could feel the tension rolling off him.
"Nice plan with the shipment; you really outdid yourself," I said.
Henry smiled, "You've figured out... You're really smart, not like Luciano." He said sarcasm was etched in his tone.
Luciano groaned, "You bitch."
Henry smirked. “You should’ve just stayed out of this.”
I tilted my head. “Funny. I was just about to tell you the same thing.”
His grip on Clara tightened. “You take one more step, and I put a bullet in her,” he said, showing off his claws.
"Shit, he can use lycanthropy in daylight... Seems like he got the Alpha gen too," I whispered to myself. Luciano turned to look at me, then back at Henry.
Luciano’s fists clenched. “Try it,” he said as he shot put too.
Henry laughed. “You think I’m bluffing?”
I shrugged. “I think you’re an idiot.”
Then, before he could react, Luciano moved fast.
One second, he had Clara in his grip. The next, I had my gun pressed under Henry's jaw.
His breath hitched.
Luciano grabbed Clara, pulling her to safety while I leaned in close, my voice low.
“You really thought this was going to end well for you?” I whispered.
Henry swallowed hard, his confidence finally cracking.
I smiled. “Big mistake.”
And then I pulled the trigger.
The silence that followed was deafening.
Henry’s body hit the ground, lifeless.
I turned to Clara. “You okay?”
She nodded, her hands still trembling slightly. “Yeah… I think so.”
Luciano exhaled, running a hand through his hair. “Well. That was fun.”
I shot him a look. “You’re insane.”
He smirked. “You’re just figuring that out?”
Clara let out a small, breathless laugh. “You two are ridiculous.”
I glanced at the blood pooling beneath Henry’s body. “We should get out of here before things get messy.”
Luciano agreed. “Yeah. Let’s go home.”
As we stepped out into the night, the weight in my chest finally eased.
Clara was safe.
The shipment problem wasn’t over.
But for now, we had won.
And I’d take that victory.
