Victor's Pov.
We stepped out of the building, the cold night air hitting my face as I took a quick glance at the bodies we had knocked out. Some of them would wake up with serious headaches, others... well, they'd be waking up to a very different reality. I had plans for them, but I wasn't about to let Luciano in on that just yet.
As we walked towards our car, I turned to my men. "Good job tonight. Go home, get some rest. I'll call you when I need you."
They nodded, a few of them grinning as they piled into their own vehicles and drove off into the night. I watched their taillights fade before smirking to myself and sliding into the driver's seat of my own car.
Inside, Luciano and Lunawyn were deep in conversation, their voices hushed. The second they saw me, they went silent, like a couple of kids caught whispering in class. I narrowed my eyes at them but let it go. Whatever they were talking about, they clearly didn’t want me in on it.
I hissed under my breath and turned to Clara. "You good?"
She nodded. "I had already predicted Henry would come after me, so I made preparations."
I raised a brow. "What kind of preparations?"
She adjusted her glasses, a small, proud smirk playing on her lips. "You think my apartment was just randomly trashed? That was me. Henry was trying to force me out, but I made it look like chaos. In reality, I was hiding important things in the mess."
I thought back to what my men had told me about the scattered papers at her place.
Smart.
I smirked. "Nice."
"You're welcome. I did play a crucial role in my own rescue, after all," she said, crossing her arms like she deserved a medal.
I snorted. "No, you did nothing."
Her eyes widened. "Nothing?"
"Yes, nothing." I sighed, shaking my head. "I had my men watching you the whole time. You were never really in danger."
She went quiet for a second, then her expression changed. "So you mean people have been watching me this whole time? Seeing my nakedness and stuff like that? You know I like walking around my apartment naked, right?"
I turned to the last one of my men who was still in the car. He looked guilty as hell.
Oh, shit.
I burst into laughter.
Lunawyn had her hand over her mouth, giggling softly. Luciano? He was straight-up laughing, shaking his head.
"Can we go now?" he asked, his voice muffled by his amusement.
I started the engine, steering us back towards the pack house. The drive was going to be long, meaning we wouldn't get back until morning.
The car was oddly quiet for a while, just the sound of the tires on the road and the faint hum of the radio in the background. No one was tired yet. Adrenaline was still pumping through our veins.
The sky started to lighten slightly, the first hints of morning creeping over the horizon.
We entered the outskirts of the city, and I was about to take the turn towards the pack house when suddenly—
"Stop!" Clara’s voice rang out in panic.
I slammed on the brakes.
"What? What is it?" I asked, eyes darting around, ready for a threat.
She smiled innocently. "Let’s grab some coffee."
I stared at her. Luciano groaned. Lunawyn just laughed.
"You nearly gave me a heart attack for coffee?" I muttered.
"You should be thanking me," she said, already unbuckling her seatbelt. "We all need it."
"You go get it," I said.
She nodded, hopping out of the car and heading into the cafe.
Luciano turned to me. "You let her get away with way too much."
I scoffed. "She’s alive, isn’t she? Let her have her coffee."
Lunawyn grinned. "She deserves it. Also, we deserve some too."
I rolled my eyes, but deep down, I knew they were right.
A few minutes later, Clara came back with a tray full of cups. The smell of freshly brewed coffee filled the car as she handed them out.
"Okay, I’ll admit it. This was a good idea," I said, taking a sip.
She smirked. "Told you."
Luciano took a long drink, sighing in satisfaction. "Alright, this almost makes up for tonight’s mess."
Almost.
We drove back in comfortable silence, the city slowly waking up around us. By the time we reached the pack house, the sun was fully up, casting golden light over the territory.
I parked the car, stretching as I stepped out.
"Finally," Luciano muttered. "I need sleep."
"Same," Lunawyn said, yawning.
Clara just looked smug, still sipping her coffee.
I shook my head, watching as they all started heading inside. My eyes drifted back towards the trees, towards the direction we had just come from.
Tonight had been a win, but something in my gut told me this wasn’t over. Henry’s death wasn’t going to go unnoticed. The shipment problem was still lingering, and I had a feeling there were more players involved than just him.
This was far from finished.
But for now, at least, Clara was safe.
And that was enough.
For now.
"I guess I'll head home" Clara said, looking at me.
I turned to the direction of luciano and lunawyn and saw them walking into the pack house exit door.
The guards greeted them and they replied. "So bye!" Clara said again, i turned to her "ohh i forgot since I'm not feeling sleepy I'll drop you off" i said.
I saw a smile forming on her lips, but i shrug off the feeling. I opened the car door "get in" I said.
She got in and adjusted her glasses. I followed through the other side and entered into the car. I smiled at her ad turned on the engine.
"So let's go then" I said and stepped on the gas.
I waited at the fate for the gatekeeper to open the gate. When the gate was opened i drove out passing through the private road.
My mind wasn't totally free but atleast i got one problem solved.
