Luciano's Pov.
The morning light filtered through my curtains, casting a soft glow across my room. Today was going to be different. No work, no company meetings—just a pack gathering in another territory. It wasn’t something I did often, but it was necessary. Maintaining relationships between packs was as important as running a business.
I took my time in the shower, letting the warm water wake me up fully. Once I was done, I stepped out and dried myself off before heading to my closet. Since this was a formal meeting, I picked out a tailored black suit with a crisp white shirt underneath. Simple, classic, and fitting for the occasion. I adjusted my cuffs before grabbing my watch and sliding it onto my wrist.
By the time I was dressed and ready, I could hear movement downstairs. Victor was probably already waiting. I stepped out of my room, walking down the hall, and sure enough, as I reached the dining area, he was there, sitting comfortably with a plate of food in front of him.
“You took your time,” he commented as he took a bite of his toast.
“I like to be thorough,” I replied, taking a seat across from him.
The table was already set, and the smell of fresh eggs, toast, and coffee filled the air. I grabbed my fork, cutting into the eggs while Victor leaned back slightly in his chair.
“So, this meeting,” he started, tapping his fingers against the table. “Anything we should be worried about?”
I shook my head. “No. It’s just a gathering. A way to strengthen bonds with neighboring packs. Nothing serious.”
Victor raised a brow. “No business talks?”
I smirked. “You always think about business first.”
He chuckled. “It pays the bills.”
I rolled my eyes but didn’t argue. He wasn’t wrong.
As we ate, we continued discussing the details of the trip. We would be traveling in one of our best cars—a limousine. Formal events like this required a certain level of presentation, and showing up in anything less would send the wrong message. We were also bringing five guards with us, not because we expected trouble, but because it was standard protocol.
After breakfast, we stepped outside where the limousine was already waiting. The guards stood near the car, dressed in black suits, alert as always.
Victor adjusted his jacket. “Well, at least the ride will be comfortable.”
I nodded as one of the guards opened the door for us. We stepped inside, the leather seats cool against our backs. The door shut, sealing us in, and within seconds, the driver pulled out of the driveway.
The journey was going to be long, but I didn’t mind. The roads stretched endlessly before us, cutting through the vast greenery that separated our pack from others. I glanced out of the tinted windows, watching the trees blur past as the limousine moved smoothly down the road.
Victor was on his phone, scrolling through something, probably emails or reports from the company. Even on a weekend, he didn’t know how to disconnect.
“You’re actually working right now?” I asked, amused.
Victor smirked but didn’t look up. “Just checking a few things.”
I shook my head, leaning back. The car ride was quiet for a while, the hum of the engine the only sound filling the space. The guards in the front seats remained focused, their presence reassuring even though we didn’t expect any issues.
An hour passed, and we were still on the road. Victor finally put his phone down and stretched his arms.
“How much longer?” he asked.
I checked my watch. “Not long now.”
True to my words, about twenty minutes later, we could see the pack house in the distance. It was large, though not as modern as ours. It had a more traditional structure, with stone walls and wooden accents that gave it an older, more historical look.
The limousine pulled up in front of the entrance, and before the car had fully stopped, the guards were already stepping out. One of them opened our door, and Victor and I exited at the same time.
The air here was different—calmer, quieter. There were a few members of the pack standing near the entrance, and as we approached, one of them stepped forward.
“Welcome,” the man greeted with a respectful nod. “We’ve been expecting you.”
I gave a small nod in return. “Thank you.”
Victor, always the more casual one, smirked slightly. “Hope we didn’t keep you waiting too long.”
The man shook his head. “Not at all. Please, come inside.”
We followed him through the entrance, stepping into the main hall. The inside of the pack house was just as traditional as the outside. Wooden beams lined the ceilings, and large windows allowed natural light to spill into the space. It had a warm, welcoming feel to it.
A few other pack members stood nearby, offering polite nods as we passed.
“They’re definitely more traditional than us,” Victor murmured under his breath.
I hummed in agreement. Our pack house was sleek and modern, while this one held onto its historical roots. Neither was better than the other, just different.
We were led to a large room where the meeting would take place. A long wooden table sat in the center, chairs neatly arranged around it. A few members of the pack were already seated, their expressions neutral but curious.
As we took our seats, the man who had greeted us spoke again. “We appreciate you making the trip. It’s important to maintain strong ties between packs.”
I nodded. “Agreed. We value alliances just as much as you do.”
Victor leaned forward slightly. “So, what’s the main agenda for today?”
The man smiled. “We’ll go over that once everyone has arrived.”
Victor and I exchanged a glance but didn’t push further. Meetings like this usually started with casual discussions before moving into serious topics.
A few more pack members trickled into the room, greeting us briefly before taking their seats. The atmosphere was relaxed but professional.
Victor tapped his fingers against the table. “Let's hope this doesn’t drag on forever.”
I smirked. “Patience.”
He scoffed but didn’t argue.
The meeting was about to begin, and whatever discussions awaited us, we were ready.
