Luciano's Pov.
The sun hadn't even started to rise when I woke up.
My body was trained for this—waking up before the world did. It was second nature by now, a habit drilled into me since I was a kid. No alarms, no groggy hesitation. Just eyes open, breath steady, and a mind that immediately shifted into gear.
I pushed the blanket off and sat up, rolling my shoulders as I blinked the sleep away. The room was dim, but I could already see the faint glow of morning creeping through the edges of the blinds. A few more minutes, and the sky would start bleeding color.
My feet hit the cool floor as I stood, stretching my arms over my head. A deep exhale left my lips, my muscles tight but familiar with the feeling. Mornings were always the same—a mix of stillness and preparation.
I walked over to the window, pulling the blinds open just enough to peek outside. The pack house grounds were quiet, only a few guards making their rounds. The air was crisp, the scent of damp earth and pine drifting through the barely cracked glass.
Behind me, I heard movement from down the hall. Victor. That man could sleep through a war, but when he woke up, he was up. No sluggishness, no dragging his feet. Just like me.
I turned away from the window and headed for the bathroom, running a hand through my hair as I stepped inside. The mirror reflected the same face I’d seen every day—sharp jawline, dark eyes that always looked a little too serious, and a faint scar running across my collarbone. A reminder of everything it took to get here.
The shower was quick, just enough to wake me up fully. By the time I stepped out, steam curling around me, I already felt sharper. More present.
Dressing was a routine in itself—dark jeans, a fitted black shirt, and the leather jacket that had practically become a second skin. Simple, efficient, no unnecessary flair. I laced up my boots, tugged the collar of my jacket into place, and ran a final hand through my hair before heading out.
The moment I stepped into the hallway, the scent of fresh coffee hit me.
Good. The maids were already up.
As I made my way downstairs, I passed by one of them—a young woman with neatly tied-back hair and a polite smile. She stopped just long enough to bow slightly.
"Good morning, Alpha."
I nodded in acknowledgment. "Morning."
Downstairs, the kitchen was already alive with quiet movement. The scent of breakfast filled the air—eggs, toast, something slightly sweet lingering underneath it all. The house wasn’t fully awake yet, but the staff always started early.
I stepped into the dining room, and just as I expected, Victor was already there, stretching his arms over his head with a tired groan.
"You look like shit," I commented, smirking slightly as I took my usual seat.
Victor snorted. "Yeah? Well, you look like you haven't smiled in ten years, so I guess we're even."
One of the maids placed a coffee cup in front of me without a word, and I wrapped my fingers around it, feeling the warmth seep into my skin. The first sip was perfect—just the right amount of bitterness to kickstart the day.
A few of the guards walked in, giving quick nods in greeting. They weren’t as formal as the maids, but there was still respect in the way they acknowledged me.
"Alpha," one of them said, pausing briefly. "Everything was quiet last night. No disturbances."
I nodded. "Good."
Victor took a sip of his own coffee, watching me over the rim of his cup. "You heading out to train today?"
I hummed, setting my coffee down. "Thinking about it."
"Thinking?" He raised an eyebrow. "Since when do you just 'think' about training?"
I gave him a look but didn’t answer.
Truth was, last night’s conversation was still sitting in the back of my mind. The fights, the question Victor had thrown at me—it all lingered more than I cared to admit.
Could I really win without my wolf abilities?
It wasn’t about arrogance. It was about certainty. And I didn’t like the fact that I wasn’t completely sure.
Victor must’ve picked up on my mood because he leaned back in his chair, smirking slightly. "You know, if you wanna test yourself, there's always the underground ring. No shifting, no powers. Just fists."
I exhaled through my nose, lifting my coffee again. "Not interested."
"Liar."
I didn’t dignify that with a response.
Breakfast went on as usual, the quiet hum of the house growing louder as the rest of the pack started waking up. More guards came in, exchanging quick words before heading out for patrol. A few of the higher-ranked pack members stopped by to check in, but nothing urgent came up.
By the time we finished eating, the sun was fully up, casting golden light through the windows.
Victor stood, stretching his arms. "Alright, I’m heading to the training grounds. You coming, or are you gonna sit here and brood all day?"
I rolled my eyes but stood as well. "Let’s go."
He grinned, clapping me on the back as we made our way out.
The day had barely started, but I already knew it wasn’t going to be a quiet one.
We made our way to the garage and entered one of my fast cars. I was kinda feeling nervous cause i didn't want to disgrace myself as an Alpha, but the luck i had was that nobody there knew.
Victor took the wheel and turned on the engine, he wave his hand in front of me,
"What are you thinking of, we're not there yet?" He said.
I snapped and replied, "my mind was somewhere else" i lied.
He drove out of the pack house, driving through the private road.
We made our way through a rural area, driving to a warehouse.
