It was my Father and Lykania.
And from behind them, I could just about peak my Mother behind Lykania.
How hadn't I noticed them or the state of the dining area before? The place had gone death silent and it looked like no was moving. Hell, they didn't even look like they were breathing.
Trent was the same case as well. He was looking down at his plate like eggs, sausages and hash browns were the most interesting things ever. And from all the other pack members I could see, they all had their head buried in something else and pointedly avoided looking in our direction.
"Father, Lykania." I said even as my heart trembled at the sight of my Father's dark eyes staring down at me, there was an emotion shining in their depths that I couldn't identify. And that scares me even more.
Lykania's eyes were much more expressive and easy to read. Hate, disgust. That was about it for her though she had a telltale smirk on her face like she knew something I didn't.
My Father on the other hand, his face was just as blank as his eyes.
"Wyn. You doing well I hope? Yesterday must have been a lot for you." He said.
For some people, if those words came out of their mouth, it would show or at least sound like they were sympathetic but for my Father, it was just robotic.
The words came out of his mouth but he didn't mean them. And from the way the side of his lip curved up slightly, he knew I knew that too.
"It was a lot, but I'm fine." I stated my head held high.
"It's a shame that you weren't in the room when the person entered. What a shame that would have been." Lykania added, her smirk growing. But that quickly dropped when our Father sent a harsh glare her way.
She lost a bit of colour and I struggled to hide my satisfied smile at that. It looked like Daddy and his little princess were butting heads.
"Let's go to my office. It's not good to talk in the middle of the dining area when everyone is having breakfast." He stated, his eyes scanning the room as he did.
I wouldn't be surprised if he gave a tone he caught staring a serious punishment. I knew deep down in my bones that one of the rules he took seriously was the not making eye contact with The Alpha unless he says you can do so.
"You can finish your breakfast later. Surely that's not a problem, is it?" He dragged out, then leaned forward on the table. He said it like he was giving me a choice but I knew him all too well.
I knew why he was doing this. He wanted to see if he still had that power over me. And I would give him just what he wanted.
I had already lost my appetite and wouldn't be eating anymore but I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of telling him that.
"I'm done, so it's just fine." I stated with a straight face even though half of my plate remained uneaten.
He noticed that too and his smile quickly turned sinister. There was that word again.
"Ugh, can we leave now?" Lykania mumbled as she shuffled on her feet. But with one look from him, she stood as still as a soldier.
Ohhh, they were definitely having problems.
"Fine." I got up, pushed back against my chair then winced when it dragged against the hard wood floor.
"Trent, come on let's go." I said without thinking and Trent's shoulders stiffened some more. If that was even possible because he was practically a stone statue at this point.
"That won't be necessary, why stress the boy. Tray can stay right here and enjoy his breakfast and then come meet you when he is done." My Father let out and I paused. But not long enough that he had noticed.
"I guess I'll see you later Trent." I said even as my heart shook. What was my Father playing at now? Wasn't he the one that wanted me to be on watch at all times.
My Father took one last look at Trent and even though it wasn't me he was staring at, I cou feel the weight of his gaze.
My Father turned away sharply taking long strides, leaving the room in his wake.
I went after him, making sure to keep a good deal of space between us even as I walked fast enough to steer clear of my Mother and Lykania. There feet shuffling told me there was a bit of a gap between us.
I got to the office a few seconds before my Mother and Lykania strolled in. And of course Lykania made it a point to shove me as she passed, much like she did the last time we were in the office together.
But unlike last time, I would not take it lying down. I shoved her back twice as hard, and she stumbled forward and almost lost her footing. I didn't bother to hide the satisfied smile that my lips curved into and Lykania smartly did not retaliate. Not with our Father glaring daggers at the two of us.
"You're Mother and I's anniversary celebration is going to be in the coming days and Alphas far and wide are coming to the occasion." My Father started out of nowhere, his face settling into a satisfied look at the mention of Alphas traveling to party with him.
He made eye contact with everyone in the room before continuing.
"And your sister," he said, directing his words at me. He hadn't even finished talking and Lykania was already smiling and puffing her chest out like a peacock.
"Is so kind enough to be a host and make sure everything goes smoothly. She's also responsible for the decorations, food, arrangement, everything." He stated. Lykania's smile growing wider by the minute.
I didn't get it, did he call me hear to gloat at how "perfect" Lykania was?
