I didn't dare voice out my irritation and I prayed to the moon goddess that it didn't show on my face because I didn't want to give my Father any reason to start monitoring me closely.
"It's my pleasure to serve the pack." Lykania suddenly said and I had to mentally restrain myself from rolling my eyes.
It's not like anyone had asked her how she felt.
Our Father only smiled in response while my mother had a loving look on her face. She only seemed to get that look when Lykania was involved. And as irrational as it seemed, I hated it.
My Father's dark eyes settled on me and I suddenly felt the urge to shrink back into my own skin. I couldn't put a finger on why I felt this way, but after the nightmare I had, it was like something was... Off. Something was just off about him and it bugged me that I didn't know what.
"I'm sure you're wondering why I called you here." My Father said, finally addressing me after scanning me to his satisfaction. I straightened my back and kept my eyes trained forward and I would admit that I took extra care not to make eye contact with him and put on my best impression of a statue.
"The Alpha's are arriving in the next coming days and I implore to be on your best behavior." He said, his voice low and threatening. And I knew that was a threat from him if I've ever heard one.
"I've already had this discussion with your Mother and Lykania and they understand me perfectly." And put of the corner of my eye, I saw Lykania nod along with his words.
I suddenly the huff in my throat. Kiss ass.
"I saw it fit to inform you as well since you're a member of the Alpha family of this pack... Sadly." He drawled out so low that I was sure my Mother and Lykania hadn't heard. But I had sensitive ears and picked up his low remark, but I didn't let it show that I had heard, or that it affected me as much.
It would give him too much power over me. And he damn well had enough of it.
"And I do not want you embarrassing me in front of the Alphas." My Father added, a note of threat in his voice.
Lykania snorted rather loud and I didn't bother to look at her. But I did feel the weight of her gaze on the side of my face before she said,
"Like she can go without embarrassing herself." She shook her head and laughed and put Father looked at her, undisguised fury in his eyes. She seemed to notice too and went into a fit of "cough" to try and hide her laughter.
"That goes for the both of you. I don't want anyone embarrassing me on that day, so if you do much as think of fighting, you will regret it." He finished, his face going blank the next second as if he did not just threaten the both of us.
I turned to look at Lykania at last and she had a solemn expression on her face but she had remained quiet, all traces of humor gone in the wake of our Father's anger.
"Lykania, can you leave us for a moment." My Father asked her even though it wasn't a question at all. She didn't have a choice. And for some odd reason, it was weirdly satisfying that she still somewhat suffered the same thing I did in his hands.
Lykania scrunched her face up and opened her mouth to protest. Wrong move.
In the nest moment, she clamped her mouth shut, right choice and shuffled out of the room through a side door only our family used. At least to my knowledge. Our Mother rose up from her seat and was hot on Lykania's heels as she closed the door behind the two of them.
I was alone with my Father once again and I nearly sighed out at how I had found myself in this situation over and over again. The last place I wanted to be was in an enclosed room with my Father of all people. Someone who I was sad to admit I didn't feel safe with.
As soon as we were alone. The walls of the office seemed to close in on itself and I suddenly felt like I was suffocating. The very much large office was now half its original size. At least in my mind.
"Scared?" His quiet her commanding voice broke the pinprick silence that has fallen on the office and I nearly jumped out of my skin.
"No." I stated, proud of myself for keeping my composure.
"I was talking about the break in yesterday. Tray informed me that he would be spending the night in your room to keep an eye on you. Just in case." My Father told me and I couldn't hide my surprise.
Trent had come here and talked to my Father about me? And he didn't tell me?
"Oh, I didn't know that." I said slowly as I tried a spot on the ground.
"I see. And how was your night?" He asked. Another odd question from him and I had to pause and think about what he was trying to accomplish by asking me all these random questions because I knew he didn't do anything without intention.
"It was great really." I lied through my teeth in response. It's not like I could tell him that I had had one of the worst nightmares of my life.
He nodded without looking at me and I had to just assume that he had believed me. If he didn't, then that was his problem.
"Great hmm. And all you did was sleep? Even with Tray in the room?"
Trent! I yelled at him mentally. My Father wasn't one to forget a name so I knew he was saying Trent's name wrong on purpose and now I was thinking it was to get a rise out of me.
He eyed me like a hawk and I had started to get confused until it dawned on me what he meant.
