"Right." I said, not bothering to deny it.
"So are you two like... Together or just friends with benefits?" Trent asked and I gave him a look.
"What? You did say you were going to tell me everything."
"Did I?" I quipped and Trent matched my stare with a look of his own.
I didn't have a problem answering the question if I knew the answer to that question myself. Luciano and I were just us.
There definitely was a great deal of chemistry between us, and my wolf lifting her head at the thought of him confirmed what I very well knew. But other than the sizzling chemistry, and that one night of great sex, my body tingling at his fiery touch on my skin all those weeks ago, we hadn't discussed much about where our relationship was heading.
The short few words he had told me the last time I saw him still resided deep in the back of my mind. No, I wouldn't think about it.
As if sensing my discomfort, Trent wiggled his fingers in front of my face.
"Hey, I'm losing you here."
"Oh, right. To answer your question, there's something going between Luciano and I, and we are definitely not just friends but as for being together, we aren't." At least not yet, I silently added.
My heart yearned for him, and as the days passed I found it harder to remain indifferent to my feelings. My Father would definitely lose it if he found out I was somehow still in touch with Luciano.
"Okay." Trent stated with a short nod.
"Is there anything you still want to know?"
"Yeah, what were you doing up and staring out of your window last night?" Trent asked and I blinked.
Did anything get past him? I thought he was asleep, hell, he was snoring so how?
"I can practically see the question on your face, and to answer your non spoken question. I wasn't asleep for most of the night." He clarified.
"But you were snoring!" I breathed out and he smiled. Wide. Like he knew something I didn't.
"Wyn, my job is to guard you,how can you think I would sleep like a baby through the night. And besides, you were standing for a really long time, looking off into the distance waiting for your prince charming to show u- hey!" Trent grumbled as he rubbed his side, throwing a playful glare my way. I glared right back because I didn't even hit him hard enough.
"I didn't think I was standing that long." I defended lowly and he smile seem to widen if that was even possible.
"You were. Now, so what was so special about the night?"
"I got a letter." I blurted and his eyebrows furrowed.
"A letter, what are we in? The 19th century?" He said and I rolled my eyes.
It was the only thing that couldn't be tracked so I it was only plausible.
"Let me guess, from your friend with benefits?" He asked and I lifted a brow.
"Would you stop looking at me like that all the time. Isn't that what he is?"
I had to admit he had a point but I wasn't going to say it out loud.
"So you received a letter, that's it?" He said and I nodded.
"Where is it?"
"Hidden."
"Good." He nodded and I opened my mouth to ask why.
"If your Father finds it, things are going to get ugly real quick." He explained before I even asked.
"I know."
The silence hung between us before being filled with the rushing steps of a crowd of people. They weren't coming this way but it sounded like they were heading out of the library.
Trent looked at me the same time I looked at him, and with a quick nod of my head, we were out of our seats and walking in the direction of the library exit.
"What do you think is going on?" He asked me and I shrugged.
"We'll find out soon enough."
Mrs Norman wasn't on her seat behind the desk anymore. She stood a few feet away from the door and hissed at the crowd of people trying to get out to be quiet.
"Mrs Norman, what's going on? Where is everyone heading off to?" Trent asked her while I activated my nosy nature and tried to listen in on the conversations the others were having.
"I heard they just arrived, Sara linked me."
"Chloe said Alpha Thomas's son is sooo handsome. And he's my age too."
The girls were the ones mostly gossiping why the guys kept talking about how some of the warriors were so huge, so and so.
But I had heard enough to know what was happening.
Trent can back beside me and got behind me in the line that has formed as people shuffled to get out.
"What did Mrs Norman say?" I asked even though I knew exactly what the answer would be.
"Some of the Alphas are already here with their family and it's like they brought an entourage with them." Trent told me and I nodded. I knew that much.
"Excited?" I asked as I turned around and eyed me briefly.
"What, no." He denied, but the subtle strain of his jaw and the way his eyes literally sparkled were signs enough of how he was feeling. But I didn't drag him on it.
"Who are you looking forward to seeing?"
"Alpha Thomas." He answered almost immediately and I raised a brow.
"That excited huh," his cheeks reddened and he looked away.
I didn't really get the excitement about meeting all those grumpy old Alphas. I had met most of them before and they weren't anything special.
Some could hold a conversation and were still okay to be around but others were downright vile. The word alone made me remember Alpha Magnus, a good pal of my Father so I was sure he would be attending the anniversary celebration.
The man scared me even more than my Father did.
When Trent had said an entourage, I just thought a group of three or four. But the people I was seeing buzzing outside looked like a mini pack of their own.
