Had my Father invited half the werewolf population?
The front of the pack buzzed with different packs, some I knew and others I had only heard about from my Father or other members of the pack.
Trent and I had made our way to the second floor and when no one was looking, I pulled him into an empty room where we were currently peeking out the window.
"See that man over there, with the reddish brown hair and beard," Trent started, pointing towards a bear of a man with friendly green eyes.
"That's Alpha Thomas."
"I know Alpha Thomas, I've seen him before." I stated and Trent dropped his hand dramatically.
"But how? And why didn't you say so before?"
"I think your forgetting I'm the Alpha's daughter and as for your second question, I don't know him personally but my Father mentions him often." I finished, then frowned.
Alpha Thomas was an angel were form and it still baffled me how he was friends with my father. Or was he really good at hiding his true nature? Or did he not just know anything?
"Oh right, my bad." Trent said and I shrugged.
"You see the guy standing next to him, that's his son, Simon."
"He looks kind... And really young." Trent drawled and I eyed him.
"He is twenty one years old so technically not that young but as for kind, he most definitely is." I glanced back out the window at Simon, his bright copper hair more brown than red easy to spot in the sea of dark heads.
He's the opposite in build to his Father and has a more graceful form because he is all lean muscle. He does has the same vivid green eyes with a splatter of freckles on his nose and cheeks giving him a completely boyish look.
"I heard that he and his father are very kind to their pack members and in turn they respect them." I told Trent and he nodded.
"Maybe that's why they are one of the strongest packs in the region." Trent suggested and I paused.
Power. They had power which was something my Father absolutely craved. I didn't know for sure but something told me that was why Alpha Thomas was still sticking around.
We surveyed the crowd below for a quiet minute until my eyes snagged on the man I had dreaded seeing earlier in the library.
Standing there like a dark mountain, Alpha Magnus stood and observed his own surroundings, his dark eyes glittering like coal as he moved. His hair was longer now, brushing his shoulders just slightly, far cry from the buzzcut he had had the last time I saw him.
"Let me guess, that's Alpha Magnus." Trent stated as he followed my line of vision and I nodded.
"Wow, he's... Something." And I couldn't help but agree. The man literally towered over everyone and I swore one look from him would have a weak minded person shivering in their boots.
The maids had been the ones attending to them since they got here, but that didn't last long as my parents came out. My Father was particularly eager and I found it odd seeing a smile on his face. A genuine one, not the smirks or grins he usually displayed.
The board of maids parted like the sea as my Father went over to Alpha Magnus first,my Mother strolling behind him with a smile of her own, though softer than his.
I cranked my neck further out the window and I wondered where Lykania was. And just like the devil, I saw her annoying form a bit behind and I had to do a double take when I saw her.
She looked so different.
Her usual sneering face adorned with a smile and she was dressed to the nines.
"Your sister really dressed to impress." Trent stated exactly what I was thinking.
"You mean dressed to deceive." I said because I knew she was about to do the act of the century.
My parents went in rounds, greeting each Alpha and Lykania wasn't far behind, which meant that everyone would start wondering where I was as the second daughter of the Alpha.
"We have to go." I told Trent. A sigh left my lips as I dragged my feet out of the room, Trent on my heels.
"Aren't we supposed to be going downstairs?" Trent glanced downwards where most of the noise in the pack house was coming from then looked at me again.
"I'm changing first. Lykania not the only one who gets to look nice." I scoffed, then glanced down at my work out leggings and plain t- shirt.
"To your room, I guess."
"To my room."
I had taken a long, and I mean long time to get ready because I did not want to socialize with pompous old Alphas who thought they were better than everybody, especially ones who were friends with my Father because i automatically thought they were no good.
I had told myself that but I was lying. Partially. But the truth was I did not want to see Orion. At all.
I knew if I laid eyes on him, the deal I made with my Father would go down to hell because I would definitely swing at him if he tried anything with me.
And if one more person who didn't know me talked about "knowing my place" then screw my them and anyone else who thought the same.
The hallways and the front of the pack were empty which meant everyone had moved to the grand dining hall. The anniversary was in three days so my father would use this time to impress the hell out of his guests.
But I knew it was only to showcase his power.
"Earth to Wyn, what are you thinking about?" Trent asked from beside me, his eyes roaming over my face.
"About what I'm about to step into." I stated.
"Will you be able okay?"
I sighed. "I will."
Just smile and nod Wyn. Smile and nod.
