Trent was having a conversation with some other pack members that I didn't recognize, probably not ours. While Alphas Thomas, Eric and Darius were having a light talk. At least it looked like that.
The only person not participating in any talk besides me was Simon, his head was down slightly and his eyes were shifty as he glanced around the room, mostly towards the end of the table.
I would have to talk to him later because he looked worried.
I zoned out of everything well aware that some people's eyes had been on me since I stepped in. And right now, I was never more thankful for putting my hair up because it helped with the heat of their stares.
I peered over at my Father the same time the table murmurs went slightly hush. He picked up a champagne glass off the table and clinked the mouth of it lightly with his spoon. The table went completely silent.
"Everyone, thank you for joining my family and I for my anniversary celebration with my lovely mate and wife." He locked gazes with my mother and I legit bulked when his eyes softened when she smiled at him.
"I hope you enjoy yourself while you are here and feel free to abuse my wine, though not much." He stated and the men in the room laughed along with him.
Alpha Vincent raised his own champagne glass up after my Father dropped his before rising up from his seat.
"A toast to wonderful night and the coming nights." He said, his voice gruff. His blond nearly white hair fell slightly over his dark eyes as he eyed the room. He had always looked too pale, too unnatural to be a werewolf to me.
"Cheers!"
"Cheers!"
The rounds of cheers went round the room as everyone down their drink of choice.
"And to Lunawyn's gorgeous outfit." A young man, Varin, who just happened to be Alpha Vincent's son commented with a silly smile and I mumbled a quick thank you.
I didn't even have to look at Lykania to know that she was boiling but she smartly kept her emotions bottled especially since our Father had shot her a less than subtle look. She wasn't the only one not happy about it though.
Alpha Vincent had sent a sharp glare his son's way before grabbing the back of his neck and shoving his head down over his food. No one said anything.
"He's right you know, you do look wonderful." Layla said as she looked passed Lykania to me. Lykania's face was stone. I struggled to hide my smile as Lykania balled her fists in her lap, and from what I was seeing, she was digging her nails deep, and I mean deep into the palm of her hand.
"Thank you. And you look really pretty tonight, I love your jewelry by the way." I said over Lykania's shoulder, completely ignoring the near death look she had on her face.
Layla blushed and muttered a quiet thank you and her lips parted like she wanted to say something else, but at the last minute, it snapped shut and she focused on her food again, her mass of glossy black curls falling to frame her round face. She began pushing the steak around in her plate and seemed... Down?
What was going on with all the Alpha kids?
With nothing else to do besides gloat as Lykania shoveled food into her mouth, her back uncharacteristically straight as she looked ahead, i went back to my own meal. Alpha Darius murmured something about being okay and Layla nodded, not even bothering to glance at her Father.
Okay, something was definitely wrong with her too. And Varin, because he looked like he would rather be anywhere than sitting between his Father and Alpha Magnus. He looked pale which sounded absurd because he looked a lot like his Father. The same place skin, whitish blond hair, the only exception being his eyes which were a light blue, almost green colour.
I swallowed the steak stuck in my throat as my eyes peered over to the seat just after Alpha Magnus. It was empty. But it shouldn't be because Orion hadn't bothered to show which was odd because he loved parties just as much as he loved relishing in attention.
The organ in my chest coiled when I remembered that at this very dinner in my past life, he had been late as well, then apologized profusely for leaving me all alone. Only to do that again when the actual dinner party started.
Lykania had also gone mysteriously missing as well and now I knew why. I wondered if she would slink off with him if he did show.
Unlike Orion who my heart coiled away from, my heart longed for Luciano. There was no chair out for him because he wasn't coming, he had said so in his letter.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my father throw a quick glance my way but after the third quick glance, I knew he was watching me. I sat up, back straight just like Lykania was doing and looked ahead.
I had gone too far to go back to being just confined to my bedroom after my house arrest.
" I heard you would soon be getting back with Alpha Orion." Alpha Magnus said to me out of the blue and I nearly choked on a fucking piece of asparagus.
My Father looked at me expectantly and I had to look away quickly because I swore I would've lost it if I caught him smirking. He set Alpha Magnus up to this.
"Yes, I will." Lie.
"You know younger wolves have squabbles all the time but it no ground to end anything."
"He made me angry." Not a lie.
My Father hadn't told them about the Lykania sleeping with Orion situation. Interesting.
"Don't we all make our mates angry sometimes? I know I certainly do, right Anna?" Alpha Vincent added then glanced at his soft spoken wife before looking back to me.
"I guess so."
The table had gone quiet and everyone seemed to listen in on the conversation who's major topic was me. I don't like this. I don't like it my mouth.
