"You know, you're not so bad after all." I muttered more to myself than to Varin but he heard me anyway.
"I'd like to ask what you mean, but I know exactly what you're talking about about." His features were softer now, the moon reflecting a nice blue hue on his pale skin.
"Well, you can't blame me, especially when you were all closed off and grumpy. Now you're talking about a bit sized shewolf who has literally wrapped you around her little finger." Varin's lips twitched, then a smile graced his face.
"What can I say, I'm in love." He had said those words in a whisper but the sheer amount of emotion in them was loud and clear.
His gaze was locked on the sky and I let him be. He had surprised me, a lot. They all had. I thought I would dislike him because of his Father but now I see we were in the same situation, being held down by controlling Alphas. I hadn't expected much from Simon and Layla but they both surprised me at how likeable they were. In the span of a couple of hours, I was willing to help Simon find his mate even though I didn't have to.
"So, what about you?"
"I'm sorry... Huh?" Varin turned his attention away from the sky, his eyes trained on me.
"I've been the topic of conversation for quite a while and I think it's time you reciprocate." He stated.
"Reciprocate?"
"Reciprocate. So start?"
"Start what?" I was genuinely confused and it was like that was written across my features because Varin gave me a "are you serious" look then sighed like I was a giant problem he couldn't solve.
"We could play parrot if you want since you keep repeating everything I say back to me." He snapped.
"Sorry?"
"I'll punch you in the face if you don't stop acting so clueless." He deadpanned, his eyes bored into mine and it looked like he could see into my soul.
"Alright then, what do you want to know?"
"Why did you break your mate bond with Alpha Orion?" He asked almost immediately and I choked on air.
What. The. Actual. Hell? What happened to asking how I was doing or some shit like that.
"Asking how you're doing is the flattest way to carry on a conversation." He answered.
Shit. I said that out loud.
"You really went from a zero to hundred huh?"
"Just answer the question Wyn."
"There's no getting out of this," I tried again to get him to ask about something else but he shook his head and tutted.
"Nope." My shoulders sagged at his answer and I let out a deep breath through my nose.
"He cheated." Two words. I figured I didn't have to tell him every detail of why I had ended things with Orion. I hadn't even told Trent some things. There were just some things I could not reveal to anyone.
"That's it?" Varin's brows shot up.
"That's it." I couldn't possibly tell him that Orion had killed me.
"Care to elaborate?" He asked again and I rolled my eyes. So nosey.
"Why are you so nosey?" My words came out like a whine and he shrugged.
"I just like knowing everything about everything." He answered. Not possible.
"So you want to know who with?"
"Naturally."
There was a pause and he started tapping his feet on the gravel.
"So you really haven't figured out who it is?" I muttered then watched as his eyes widened like saucers. His mouth dropped slightly open and he looked at me for confirmation.
"No, it can't be." His voice was filled with disbelief still.
"It can."
"Lykania..." He asked uncertain and I nodded. He opened his mouth to say something but he closed it again.
"I'm over it now." I told him when he started looking at me with pity. I hated when people did that.
"Your own sister, that's just messed up." He said. I didn't know what to say to that but I could silently agree. I had already cried enough since I woke up that morning in my birthday.
"Does your Father know? Your Mom?"
"They don't believe me." Why would they? I wasn't the perfect daughter who was always obedient to them, especially to my Father. Though now I was thinking my Father only treated Lykania that way because she was a much easier pawn to work with.
"That's horrible. Can't you do something else about it, make them see?"
"No, I can't. I don't have any proof." I told Varin but deep down I knew that even if I did, my Father would still find some way to write it off and Lykania would go free. Not to talk abouth the amount of gloating she would do to me.
"Well that just sucks." Varin muttered to himself under his breath.
We both settled into a state of quietness, each one of us lost in our thoughts before Varin spoke again.
"Do me a favor, if you see Alpha Orion coming to beg for your forgiveness, don't agree to him. In fact, a punch or two would be the thing that he really needs." Varin told me, his jaw was set in a hard line and he looked ready to hurl something.
"I'm-"
"And don't say something like you're over it because even if you are, I'm not. I'm still very much upset with Alpha Orion and will punch him the next I see him." Varin said. He sounded very much serious too.
"Okay." I whispered, lifting my hands up as he peered at me.
"God, you're like an annoying older brother." I mumbled under my breath and Varin flashed me a small smile.
"I've always wanted to have a little sister." He said and my heart literally melted when he said that.
"I have one more question though." He said suddenly and I don't know why, but my stomach dropped. He was going to ask some shit that would get me thinking, I just knew it.
"Alright. Ask away?"
"Let's talk about Luciano." There we go. Shut that would get me thinking.
