"Mate." Simon whispered again but this time he took a small step in Willow's direction. Willow had remained where she stood, firmy planted on her feet and didn't seem like she would move anytime soon.
"... Wait, what?" Trent said, his eyes flying from Simon to Willow then back again.
"No, that's not possible." He muttered under his breath and took a step in Simon's direction. I grabbed his wrist before he could go further and shook my head when he turned to look at me. This wasn't the time to be the big gruff brother he always was.
Things could go bad really fast because Simon was very much high on mate euphoria and would attack if anything stopped him from getting to his mate. And coupled with the fact that he had Alpha blood running through his veins, I just couldn't see where intervening would help Trent in any way.
"Leave them." I whispered to him. Varin stood at his other side and watched the two fated mates stared at each other to their satisfaction.
"Hey, hey, where are you going?" I whispered to Daisy when she started creeping in the direction of her sister who was lost in a trance. I doubted she even knew where she was right now.
"Come over here." I told Daisy then grabbed her much like I had done to Trent earlier, but much softer this time.
"You're my mate." I heard Simon tell Willow as he took slow steps towards her. She still hadn't moved.
"I think we should leave them alone." Varin suggested then tilted his head in the other direction, and I agreed with him.
Taking a confused Daisy and a pissed off Trent, we left in the opposite direction, far away from the two love birds. They were going to be at it for a while, I could tell with the way they stared into each other's eyes.
It reminded me of when I had first met Orion all those years ago... No, I wouldn't go there. I would not go there. Just remembering that pompous douche bag was enough to sour my mood and Varin picked up on it but didn't comment. He just settled with giving me a funny look which I pointedly ignored.
"Wait, I can't leave Willow there with him, she's my baby sister." Trent protested then shook himself free of the little bubble we had created.
"And she's his mate. Your point?" Varin deadpanned, levelling an intense stare Trent's way. Trent shuddered then turned away from him, staring in the direction we had come from.
"I can't leave her alone with him because I don't know him very well. He could hurt her." Trent yelled which caused Daisy to look up from the bushes she was playing in.
I glared at Trent and he avoided looking at me for a minute.
"For the last time, Trent, she is his mate and he wouldn't hurt her. I'm pretty sure it would hurt him more even if he tried." I told him frankly.
"She's right you know." Varin supported.
"So what am I supposed to do then?"
"Nothing. It's none of your business what they do, they're mates. It's not like you can physically tear them apart." Varin let out and I shot him a look.
He had the annoying habit of giving not so pleasant advice that nobody asked for.
Trent sighed and dropped into a bench in the corner, and i followed suit.
"What are you thinking?"
"Besides contemplating murdering an Alpha's son if he so much as hurt my sister?" He said quickly. Too quickly for my liking.
I inhaled sharply. "Yeah, besides that."
"I'm thinking of the fact that my little sister found her mate before me." He stated.
"What is this, is that jealousy I hear?" I gasped and Trent shoved me lightly on the arm.
"Don't even start."
We waited for another hour with no luck in seeing Simon or Willow. I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up spending the night together and neither was Varin with the way he shrugged when I brought it up.
Trent however was not having it and looked like he had ants in his pants as he paced back and forth on the small patch of grass.
"Your suggesting I should leave them alone?" Trent asked, completely mortified and Varin rolled his eyes. He didn't understand where Trent was coming from but I did. He had been the one responsible for his sisters for a while and was used to taking care of them. It wouldn't be easy for me either if suddenly my role wasn't as important because some male waltzed into my sister's life and claimed he was her mate. It went against everything Trent had done and I knew his senses were wracking with worry. He was wired that way.
"I didn't suggest anything. I said let's get out of here because it's getting late."
"It sounded like a suggestion to me." Trent fired back and my eyes widened. What was he doing challenging Varin. Varin also had Alpha blood and could easily rip him to shreds.
"Trent stop."
"Why, he's the one who started it." Trent defended himself and Varin frowned.
"Me? I said something and you decided to fire back."
"Oh, please, Wyn was here and she has eyes to see what really happened."
Varin rose to his feet and it looked very likely that a fight was about to break out before my eyes. Varin walked to where Trent was standing and I held a breath because I knew things could go ugly real fast.
"What's your problem?" Varin asked and Trent's nostrils flared.
"If you have a problem with me then say it to my face instead of shooting stupid comments left and right." Trent spat and Varin's brows lifted. Not good.
Varin stepped closer until his and Trent's forehead nearly touched and that was when I knew I had to intervene. They wouldn't separate themselves otherwise.
"That's enough from the both of you." I said then came forward and pulled Trent back.
"He started it." They both said at the same time and a random smile stretched my lips at how similar they were. They didn't even recognize it themselves.
