"I think I will." Trent scratched the back of his head then placed a hand on my closed bedroom door. We were alone in the hallway but he still looked both ways before turning back to me.
"Are you okay?" He asked, his face serious. My eyebrows knitted together at the question. Everyone always seemed to be asking me that, like why wouldn't I?
"Why are you asking me?" Trent's eyes widened at my irritated tone but he kept whatever it is he wanted to say to himself.
"I didn't spend the day with you, and plus your Father talking to you privately -" Trent's words were ringing in my head, and I had heard enough.
"Not out here." I whispered before unlocking my door and pulling him in. With a slam and a loud click of the lock, I turned back to him.
"What were you saying about my Father?" I let out, more desperate than I had intended to sound.
"Woah, relax. I just know your Father called you to talk, that's all." I said as I started feeling my mood deflating. Why did I think that he would say something I didn't already know?
"And before you ask if I'm okay again, I'm doing just fine." I let out. I wanted to add that I'm not a child to be looked after but I knew whatever I say would fly over his head. I was tired of everyone assuming I couldn't take care of myself.
"Okay fine. It's no reason to get worked up like that." Trent said as he subtly backed away. I guess not so subtle since I noticed right away.
"I'm not worked up." I gritted out.
"Is there something else you wanted to say?" Because I doubted he had paused all in the name of a-
"There is." He answered, his words reverberating through me the wrong way.
"Well..."
Trent didn't reply right away but stepped closer to me until our foots touched. He grabbed my shoulders and looked me so deep in the eyes that for a brief moment I thought he was going to confess his feelings or something.
"I also heard your ex mate is going to grace us with his presence." Trent said without missing a beat but my heart sure skipped a beat.
"Where did you hear that?"
"It's everywhere, everyone is whispering about it, though no one has said it's true, but by the way you reacted, it's true isn't it?" I nodded absentmindedly at his question and Trent's face suddenly morphed into a fit of panic.
"I'm worried Wyn, what if something goes wrong. Are you-"
"If you ask me if I'm okay one more time, I'm going to punch your face in. Enough is enough."
"I wasn't going to ask that." He breathed out. A life but I didn't care to point it out.
"And Orion? Do you have any plans for him?" Trent asked, he had stepped back to where he was before, his arms folded as he surveyed me with cool eyes.
"I don't have a plan. Yet." I hadn't planned on doing anything because the news of Orion being there was still firmly new to me. Even now, I couldn't quite believe that Orion would be here tomorrow.
"I guess that's it from my end. I'll come to your room tomorrow, nice and early so be ready. I don't think you should be left alone tomorrow, not when that joke of an Alpha will be waltzing around." Trent said. I knew even if I tried that it would be impossible to talk him out of coming here.
"Sure."
"I'll see you tomorrow then." He said as he gripped the door handle before seeing himself out. My room was plunged into silence as I looked at the spot Trent had just occupied, my mind still racing with thoughts of Orion.
Even the shower couldn't wash away the worry that at that point was etched into my bones. I was scared too. But not at seeing Orion again but at disobeying a direct order my Father had given me.
I felt like a coward who couldn't rise up and defend herself. Just two nights ago, I had said I wouldn't let my Father control me and they I would be my own person. But today just showed me that I was still very far from that. I couldn't just erase all the years of fear my Father had instilled in me in one night. It just wasn't possible.
I still had a lot on my mind but it was the sharp knocking on my door that cut it off for now. An irritated sigh left my lips as Trent continued to slam on the door like I wasn't in it.
"Jeez, what was his problem?" I muttered as I smoothed out my wrinkled night gown then headed to the door.
"What's your problem Trent, it's too late for any more of your nonse-" I started yelling as soon as I yanked the door open but my words sucked back down my throat. It wasn't Trent.
Lykania stood at the door, arms crossed as she stared a burning hole through my head. I didn't even get time to react to her being here before I was roughly shoved back into the room, the door slamming behind Lykania.
"What the hell is wrong with you, get off of me!" Lykania ignored me and kneed my ribs before twisting and bringing us down to the floor with a resounding thud.
"Have you lost your freaking mind!" I tried to push her off but she pressed me down tighter, her hands digging into the sides of my shoulders as she held me down. If she moved her hands just an inch or two more towards each other, then she was basically strangling me.
"I'm completely sane." She spoke for the first time, her words icy as she glared down at me.
"What do you want?" I breathed out rather harshly. Her sharp knees pressed against my sides as I inhaled a shaggy breath.
"I want you to tell me exactly what our Father told you."
