My face burned and I didn't dare look down at my night gown covered frame.
"How did you sleep?" Trent asked then placed a hand ony shoulder to shuffle past me into the room.
"Good." I lied. As if to announce their presence, my sides stinged and discretely as I could, I wrapped a hand around my abdomen.
"I'm surprised that you both came here together."
"It wasn't my choice, trust me." Trent said as he went over to my window and yanked it open. Varin however, was at the door, leaned against the wall, with one of his hands shoved into his pockets.
"I met him on the way." I eyes him for a moment and his eyes glinted at my perusal. He had never been to my room before, at least to my knowledge.
"You're looking like it's a secret. I just had to asked a few maids for directions and I was on my jolly way to see you." He stated, answering my unasked question.
"It was jolly until I met him on the way here." He added and I shot him a look. He answered with a corner of his lips curved up before he kicked off the wall and strolled to the center of the room.
"Nice room you got here."
"Thanks, I designed it myself." That was true. I hated the bland walls and floors of the pack house and after begging for a month and an additional month of doing both I and Lykania's work, I finally got free reign to do what I wanted to my room.
"That's impressive, how did y-" some hip-hop monstrosity called music came from Varin's pocket and he excused himself and answered his phone call that didn't last long.
"I have to go Wyn. But I'll see you at breakfast yeah?"
"Yeah."
He was out the door the next moment and Trent and I were left alone. He hadn't moved from his spot in front of the window since he arrived.
"You okay? You've been quiet since you got here." I went over to him and tried to find what he was looking at. But it was just clear skies and empty packlands- with the exception of the patrols doing their rounds.
"It's nothing." He dismissed it and that really piqued my interest and I studied him all the more.
"Trent, we both know that's not true." His hair was flipped over his face which made his eyes hidden so I had no way of reading what would be in them.
"Is it about Willow?" I knew I hit a nerve when he straightened and inhaled sharply.
"Is it that obvious?" This time he was looking at me as he asked.
"Yep. You're really cheerful and don't get like... This, easily so I know something happened. And the only thing that has happened recently was Willow." His mouth scrunched up and he nodded.
"Did you talk to her?"
"I did."
"And how is she? What did she say?"
"She's good, great even. I've never seen her so happy before."
"That's understandable. She's just found her mate."
"She says she wants to go to his pack and live with him." Trent deadpanned.
"Well, that is the drill... Let me guess, you don't want her to go and that's what has been bugging you."
"Am I really that much of an open book?" His face scrunched up and I smiled.
"You have no idea."
Trent leaned against the window and sighed.
"I'll miss her, a lot. Daisy too." I didn't say anything and let Trent come to terms with his feelings.
"I should probably leave you alone now to get ready. Breakfast is in an hour and a half." He said a few minutes later before heading out the door quietly.
I gawked at the decorations when I stepped out of the room, I had to do a double take to make sure that I wasn't seeing things and that I was on the right hallway because everything just looked so... Different. My Father really went all out.
The doors to the dining hall were still busy when I got there, with people hanging around. And as I passed, the topic of conversation of most of the people is how they thought the celebration would go.
It was until I passed a last set of people that my body stiffened. They were talking about Orion and me, and what's even worse, they were making bets on who they thought would cave first. Well, they were in for a surprise because it definitely would not be me.
And knowing Orion and his tendency for pride, I knew it wouldn't be him either.
Varin was leaned back on a wall- the sole of his foot resting against the wall - much like he had done my room. Trent waved at me just fine and I could see a tiny bit of sparkle in his eyes and I could only think he had gotten to talk to Willow.
"You two," I called as I pushed through a few people to get to where Trent and Varin stood.
"How are you feeling?" Trent was the one who asked and I paused to think about it.
"I'll be fine, don't worry." I said back even as I felt the cold touch of a hand on my back.
Trent was well aware of my house arrest fiasco and why and I was really grateful when he took time out to find a way to get me what's said during class. Same thing goes from Varin as well but he isn't as well informed as the other guys.
Eyes darting to a particular corner of the room, Varin looked distracted. And he stayed like that until he was finally called away by his Father our of the blue.
Back to the wall, I took the spot where he had been leaning on the wall and glanced at Trent.
"You talked to Willow?"
"Yeah."
"And?"
"She really wants to leave with Simon soon." Trent signed and I made sure everyone was busy with their own things before putting a hand on Varin.
"I expected so and you should have too."
"I did." Trent defended. "But I didn't think it was this soon."
