"You look great," Trent said and Varin nodded along.
"Sorry, I'm-"
"Just in time." Varin cut in them glanced at the close doors in front of us.
"So..." Trent started and Varin facepalmed.
"Let's go in before you say something that'll make her punch your face in." Trent clamped his mouth shut and Varin went ahead to push the doors wide open.
I shuddered a breath, here goes nothing. Silence reigned as I picked up my skirt and walked through the doors, and I couldn't help noticing how full the place already was.
"I thought you said we were on time," I whispered when Varin came to my side and he shrugged.
"Early enough," he muttered and I glared at his shoulder.
I slinked to a corner of the room and tried my best to stay out of sight. It was just us two, Trent and I, because Alpha Vincent had called Varin over and Varin had stayed by his side ever since.
"You worried?" Trent asked, as he downed a glass of champagne. My mouth was stuffed with some appetizers and I moaned at the taste. The was the only good thing about the damned celebration, the food.
"Not as much as you," I answered through a mouthful of food.
He wanted to say something else but the grand doors opening caught his attention and just like before, at least half the hall turned to look the door's way.
Simon, with Willow in tow stepped through the doors and I had to do a double take. Willow looked gorgeous in a green lace gown that flattered her figure. Her face flushed when she noticed a good number of heads turned their way before Simon grasped her hand in a hold that I could only describe as delicate.
Just as quickly as ever turned to stare, they lost interest in them just as quickly.
Trent was speechless at my side as we watched Simon lead Willow over to where his Father stood and they struck up a conversation.
"Do you want to go over there and talk to her?" The dynamic between him and Willow had already shifted and I knew it wouldn't be the same again.
"... I guess. We haven't really spoken as often since she got mated." His eyes were still locked on his sister's figure and they burned with the need to talk to her.
I placed a hand on his shoulder and urged him in her direction.
"Go. I'm sure she'll be glad to see you." With that little encouragement, Trent nodded, suddenly gaining courage and strutted over to where she stood. I watched him pull her aside before they conversation quickly went from quiet to lively.
Left alone, I went back to surfing the buffet tables for food until Lykania with her cronies came to disturb my peace.
"Why is she stuffing her face like a pig?" One of them, a dark head one with a chubby face whispered to the other who was the exact opposite of her, a skinny tall red head with freckles as red as fire.
"Lykania did say she eats like one." Freckles answered back with a smirk and I felt my blood boil.
"What do you want?" I gritted out to Lykania and her cronies and she left.tgem behind and came towards me.
"Look, aren't you tired of this, because this is getting stupid. We aren't highschool kids anymore where you play bully and I play the nerdy awkward girl in the corner," I spat.
She blinked at me before turning back towards chubby face and freckles.
"See, I told you." She told them and from where I stood, I saw her lips move but no words came out of them. Chubby and freckles giggled to each other while they eyed me and my already sour mood plummeted to the pits of hell.
If she wanted to be annoying, then fine. Two couod play at that game.
My eyes travelled down Lykania's frame and I stared hard at her complication of a dress before stopping at the sleeves- her long sleeves.
"Your wrists still haven't healed hmm? It must be a shame to not wear what you want," I tutted and her face scrunched up like a sour cabbage.
One thing about Lykania was that whatever she wore had to be revealing. It didn't matter where she was going or who she was seeing, so I knew it killed her to hide "the best creation the moon goddess made since mates". I rolled my eyes just thinking about the ridiculous statement.
"Listen here you-"
"What? Struck a nerve?" I smiled a triumphant smile as she bared her teeth at me.
Lykania, one. Lunawyn, one.
The other two's mouth has gone shut as they stared at Lykania before trailing back to me. They took a not so subtle step back before whispering to each other again then slinking away.
I huffed. What wonderful friends she had.
Lykania moved dangerously close, her hands balled into a tight fist, waiting to strike and I prepared myself for her blow as she and I threw all inhibitions away. But the blow never came.
The next moment, Lykania's face lost all shade of angry color, and she looked like she had seen a ghost behind me.
"What's going on here?" His voice, annoyingly calm as always spoke and i couldn't help having a matching ghostly look with Lykania.
"Why aren't you both saying anything?" Our Father's voice now packed a bit more punch as he rounded the corner behind me where he had stood.
"Answer me," He said in a harsh whisper that got me taken a precautionary step back, and Lykania mirrored my movements.
"... It was nothing." Lykania stuttered out and I almost facepalmed. Not even a child would believe her with the way she was shuffling on her feet looking ready to bolt.
"It didn't seem like nothing to me." Our Father stated simply as he glanced between the both of us.
The place was such that our voices were drowned out by the music and you could only hear our conversation over it if you were standing close enough. But no one was. Everyone was too busy indulging in the activities taking place.
"I'm waiting."
