My words echoed in the now silent Hall as I made a spectacle for everyone to see.
"No?"
"No, I have nothing to say to you," I spat, my nostrils flaring, "on second thought, i want you to know you can go to the pits of hell for all i care," i finished,my words immediately accompanied by gasps from the crowd. Though the most audible voice was my mother's. One quick glance her way and I saw apall written all over her face. And just next to her, Lykania was fighting hard to hide her satisfied smile.
Of course she was enjoying me basically ruining my life.
Varin had backed away- no, had been pulled away by some cronies who followed his Father and he hadn't fought them. At least one of us will have a somewhat normal morning tomorrow.
It was just me now, and Orion, his face contorting into an ugly expression that had me toeing back from him. But he followed my movements and grasped my elbow in an iron grip that I couldn't shake.
"Let me go! You're hurting my arm!" I let out but my voice was going through. Instead, he glared down at me and helde like he was ready to fling me away. And I thought he would but he surprised me again by pulling me close until I could feel his warm breath breeze past my face.
To others, it looked like we were having a heartfelt conversation like an arguing couple and would kiss and make up any moment from now. But what was happening was far from it.
"I swallowed my freaking pride to hear your dumbass apology and this is what you're choosing to do," he threw the words in my face, an intense look passing over his eyes. He blew a breath between his teeth, then cocked his head to the side, the side of his lip rising up as he bared his teeth in what was supposed to be a smile.
"Lykania was right. You really are an idiot who doesn't know what's good for her." The insult hit me square in the face, and I tensed, my fists clamping up in an already prepared blow.
It was official now, if there was anyone I hated more than Orion, it was Lykania.
"Do you know why I agreed to take your sorry ass back? Let me give you a hint, it wasn't because of your Father having a word with me," he whispered furiously before gazing into the silent crowd, his eyes finding... Lykania. No surprise there.
He saw my looking and then he really smiled.
"She felt sorry for you and because of that I did too and decided to give you the chance to beg."
"If you think I'm going to beg, then you might as well wait for the moon to turn purple before I do such a thing." My words were sharp even as I bit my tongue to bite down the pain shooting up my arm. He still hadn't left my arm and I would not be surprised if it was a bit discoloured because blood wasn't flowing through the arm anymore and it was starting to feel numb.
"Listen here, I don't care what you or Lykania think of me and I'll be da-"
"Oh please Wyn, can you hear yourself, who's going to believe that? Scratch that for a second, can you even see yourself?" His words flew over me as I steamed over the words that were coming out of his mouth, " you are red in the face and look zboutbrrsdy to pucnh someone. And the veins popping out of your head and the side of your neck is evidence enough that my words are getting under your skin," he finished whispering, his face only mere millimeters away from mine. The fucking asshole.
I struggled against him, no longer concerned with how my arm felt and the only thing I wanted to do was leave. I glanced at the doors, finding annoyingly familiar faces. Nicky boy stood at the door, his hands clasped behind his back with the most uninterested face I had ever seen that he kept trained forward. I was trapped.
"Okay, you guys should wrap it up now," my Father stated with a shrill smile that I wanted to knock off of him but I was too busy trying to get out of the iron grip Orion had on me.
I had never felt so alone in my life. Varin couldn't do anything to help me without incurring the wrath of his Father and risk endangering his mate, Simon couldn't either, and Trent didn't have to power to anyway. The consequences would be even more dire for him if he tried to step him to do anything.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Trent standing next to Varin, and the hand Varin had on his shoulder was suspiciously too tight to be just a friendly hold.
Varin was holding Trent back from coming to help me. The rational part of me was thankful Varin recognized the fact that Trent could be in real trouble if he tried to play hero. But the smaller, irritational part of me wanted Trent to break free of his hold and come to my aid, consequences be damned. I just wanted someone to do what I couldn't do fro my fricken self, and I hated the creeping feeling that i was a coward who couldn't stand up for herself.
"Orion, Wyn, you've put up enough show for everyone here today." My Father's voice cut through the thick blanket of my thoughts and I was suddenly aware of the multiple pairs of eyes, staring, judging...
"Apologize and I'll forgive you and we can move on and be a happy fucking couple." Orion gritted out before plastering the fakest of smiles across his face.
Lies. All of it. I knew we wouldn't be a happy fucking couple like he had put it, we wouldn't be a couple at all if Orion was still his usual douche self.
"Wyn, fucking say something." He rasped in my ear.
"No."
