Trent locked the cell back, then set his eyes on me, his expression warm.
"You can rely on me, you know."
"I know," I said softly. With that, he strutted off and I was left alone with my thoughts. My biggest priority was gathering enough strength and formulating and airtight plan to escape. I trusted Trent, but it would be really nice if we had a plan B to fall back on if things went the other way.
I couldn't be sure, but only about an hour or so bad passed before I hurried footsteps frantically bolted down the hallway to my cell. Trent came into view, as he heaved hard. Anic watched over his features when he had just arrived, but in seeing me, he seemed to calm down a bit.
"What is it, why do you look like you were chased the whole way here?" I asked, as his heavy breaths filled the cell. His breathing slowed before he finally answered,
"It's your Father, he is planning on moving you to a different cell for whatever reason. I just found out a couple of minutes ago, and I ran straight here because I thought he had already gotten to you."
"Why would he want me moved? What's wrong with this cell?"
"The trial, it's in two days, and for some reason, he doesn't want you to think of escaping after." Trent's words ripped through me, and I found myself panting like he had before.
The trial is in two days. My mind was swirling around the fact that my Father wanted to get rid of me so quickly that he had rallied up the forces at the speed of light.
What was I going to do? I hadn't planned anything, I sure as hell knew Trent hadn't planned anything yet. Was I going to get banished and kicked out like some disregarded rogue?
" Stop it," Trent ordered, and my worried eyes went over to him.
"Huh?"
"Stop panicking, it's swimming in your eyes and I do not like it," he clarified.
"But what are we going to do? There isn't any time, and now I'm being moved to someplace else?"
On a regular day, I could be very rational but today wasn't a day like that. My head was fogged up and all I could think about was what if I did fail then ended up being embarrassed then thrown out of the pack house like some dog. The thought alone made a zing go down my spine then come up - it wasn't a good feeling either.
"I have to go because I can't be seen with you for now. If your Father catches sight of me, then he can justify having you moved to another cell." Trent rushed out, his eyes darting to the dimly light hallway as he spoke.
"Be careful." I called after as he hurried back like the way he had come. Then, I waited.
Just like Trent had said, an hour later, Lykania's lover guard and another sour faced guard I didn't recognized opened the cell and groggily told me to get up and move.
My body was stubborn at first and refused to co- operate as I struggled to leave the cell, mostly because I didn't want to leave, I already preferred the familiarity of where I was rather than some unknown place.
The guards weren't patient though, and sour face gripped my elbow in annoyance, then pulled me out of the cell for lover guard to lock it.
"I'm so sick of this." The sour faced guard muttered as he held me.
They pulled me along, and when we breached the threshold of the stairs, I hummed as natural light hit me properly for the first time in days. I felt like a flower as I soaked up the sun.
"Hurry up, we don't have all day." Sour faced, spoke, a frown settling on his face when I stopped in my tracks. Lover guard simply walked ahead and didn't bother to interact with me.
"What a shame, and she was so nice too." I heard a maid whisper to another as we passed, and my chest burned from pure embarrassment. The maids and other pack members that we came across were few, but they all stopped to gawk at me as we passed. I had never felt that exposed before, and more than I would like to admit, I wished the stone wall would gobble me up.
"Are they releasing her?"
"I heard she's being taken to another cell."
"Is it true she attacked Miss Lykania? Because she was raging about it the rest of yesterday evening, and even this morning."
"Let me tell you, she's just an entitled Alpha brat who doesn't like when things go any way but hers." That comment made me sip in a breath like it had stung me. Shame engulfed my whole being as I made the walk of shame to the new cell.
"Here's the standard cell, yell if you need anything but no one will likely answer you because it's usually deserted," sour face said, and I didn't know if his words were supposed to be a bit of encouragement or just loathing on his part.
"Come on," sour face addressed lover guard and they shuffled out, the vibrations of the rutty iron bars reverberating through me.
I waited until they were out of my line of sight and their own earshot before I turned around to survey my new "home".
The cell I was in and my former one were literal twins. The only difference between the two was that the former has a slightly smaller window, but a significant thing was that the lighting here was much better.
I settled into the bench, a wider one this time and lay on it, my body growing weak all because of the trek here.
I knew Trent would be able to find me here, but my worry was how we would escape because here was more open, and it was crawling with more guards. It could be on my Father's orders but I wasn't sure.
My eyes closed and I tried to sleep, even if it would be brief.
"Is this her?"
