An empty adjoining office met us as most of them, including my Father were in his main office. The rumbling of his voice intertwining with theirs confirmed it.
We were alone, until Lykania and my Mother came through the closed door, their expression trained on me like as if they had been expecting to see me. Nicky boy had probably mind linked that we had arrived, I thought.
They took up space and blocked the door. Lykania's arms were folded while my Mother looked like she had always been, unconcerned.
I guess it didn't mean much to her that the hold she had birthed herself was about to face a trial that would tilt the axis of her life. I was most possibly facing banishment, but on a smaller scale, it could be execution for all I knew because it was a well established fact that my Father wasn't one to be trusted.
I could die today, and this woman who's supposed to be my Mother just stood there like it was any other day of the week.
"Luna, Miss Lykania, I've brought her as you've asked," Nicky boy said, quelling my rising anger momentarily.
"You can leave Nicholas," my Mother's obnoxiously calm voice let out, and with a slight bow, Nicky boy strutted out and slammed the door shut behind him. I was left alone to deal with the cultures that were my family members.
I stood motionless in front of them, and waited for them to make the first move, and of course, Lykania didn't disappoint.
"What? Can't attack me now huh?" She smiled, and I noticed her cheek. It was healing up nicely, and only a faint yellow bruise remained where a significant swell had been.
"Say something you stupid bitch! This isn't the time to pretend you're all fair and holy," she spat angrily the next moment, completely losing her cool.
Our Mother grasped her hand and shook her head.
"That's enough Lykania, your Father will deal with her himself," she stated in a tone I didn't quite take to. This had been the longest sentence I had heard her said to me in days, this practically summed up our relationship.
"I'm disappointed in you Lunawyn, my own daughter."
"No, my grandfather's daughter," I fired back angrily. She didn't get the right to call me that.
Her eyes flared but she quickly regained her composure that she was maintaining until now.
"How dare you speak to our Mother like that," anger was imbedded in her words but I didn't care.
"What do you want me to do then?" Lykania's mouth clamped shut at my statement, and my question hung in the air.
They all knew that she deserved it, and at least she was denying it and convincing me that I 2s the one at fault.
"Okay, I've heard enough. Let's go in, are you going to go in willingly or do we have to bundle you up again?" Her cold gaze swot over me before she turned in the direction of the door.
"Let's bundle her up, she's not worth the first option." Lykania's comment boiled my blood but I swallowed it hard.
"Lykania..."
"Ugh, fine," she let out, then turned to me, her soft expression morphing to they of disgust, "why are you just standing there? Move already or I'll really ignore Mom and bundle you up myself like you are a criminal."
Her words were a threat, and like the running theme of my life so far, I didn't care. I marched forward just, though reluctantly, as my Mother pushed the door open.
The multitude of voices stopped and all eyes turned to the door- to me really because it was as if Lykania and my Mother weren't there. They walked over to him and assumed the position at his sides.
Standing in the middle of the room before my Father and the group and elders and council members, I felt so exposed. It was like they could see every little part of me, and they were all in display for them to really look at and inspect.
"You know why you're hear, Miss Lunawyn?" A yound council member addressed me and I nodded. I didn't trust myself to say anything.
Your conduct these past few days haven't been the most admirable and several witnesses have come forward to testify that it is in fact true," An older looking council member, and probably an elder too, judging by his clothes said to me.
I didn't for one minute but the witness talk they the man was spewing because I knew the more accurate answer was my Father rallying up people to testify against me just so he could get his way.
"We would have given you a chance to redeem yourself, but after your display last night, all night talk have been refrained from for fear of more questionable actions floating I am."
Another chance? Redeem myself? Lies.
None of what he said was true, but I guessed it was a formally of some sort because I knew my trial result was already a forgone conclusion.
"With that, you trial will begin."
The elders droned on about my behavior, but my eyes were too caught on my Father with ge annoyingly smug expression on his face. The same went for Lykania while my Mother's face was expressionless.
As the trial progressed and more of my Father's wishes came to be, he struggled to hide his growing smile and decided nodding his head often to mask it.
"... Banishment." An elder said.
I thought I would feel every emotion in the world when the verdict was said, but I felt ... Numb. I had expected it so that probably helped a bit.
"You are banished from this pack and will not return unless you are pardoned by the Alpha of the pack." Said another.
Pardoned by my Father? Not happening, so I assumed that meant forever.
"You are to leave immediately as you banishment us effective as of now," the young council member said, his eyes filled with a hint of sympathy.
"Will that be all?"
I finally found my voice after all this time.
