Sebastian and I stood in the dark depths of the Undercroft, debriefing our most recent mission together. Things weren't easy, and it definitely didn't feel any easier once we got back. I was hesitant to tell him about Lodgok, knowing how he felt about goblins, but I feared he was our only choice.
"You're not listening to me," I tell him, asking for a bit of his patience. But that was the thing about Sebastianโ€” he was too caught up in his own mind to listen to others. Still, I hoped that perhaps he would have made an exception this one time.
"Why would I listen to someone so ignorant?" he spat in the heat of the moment. I didn't want to bury how I felt and say that what he said hadn't hurt. We might have not known each other long, but I'd like to think we went through so much together in the little time we did know each other.
I was conflicted in my own feelingsโ€” half of me feeling anger that he'd say such a thing knowing what we just went through, and the other knowing his history with goblins, and that perhaps it was understandable.
"You don't know what you're saying, Sebastian. Maybe you need some time alone, take a breather," I suggested, trying not to let my anger get the best of me.
"Oh, I know exactly what I'm saying."
At that moment, my body burst into flames. I looked in his eyes. He was right. He knew exactly what he was saying and he didn't even seem sorry about it. I let myself loose.
"You know, maybe your uncle was right about you. You don't know when to fucking stop," I pierced. Sebastian scoffs, taken aback by my comment. "I do know when to stop," he said, stepping closer to my face.
"No, you don't. And it's only a matter of time before all your stupid and reckless decisions blow up in your face. You just wait. You just wait until your uncle forbids you from seeing Anne again and all your efforts were in vain."
"Ha! Is that so?! You think he could stop me? You're probably just as stupid as you claim I be! I'm not the one siding with goblins, I mean how long have you known the wretched creature?!"
I blasted a cast at him, knocking him into the barrels and crates behind him. "You're an asshole!"
Sebastian tried to cast at me, but fortunately I was quicker than him. "You know, if you think I'm so ignorant, maybe you should find someone else to help you! Good luck with that," I yelled from across the room.
Unbeknownst to either of us, Ominis entered the Undercroft and heard all the crashing of the crates and spells being thrown. "What is going on here?!" he screamed, grabbing a hold of my arms while Sebastian groaned, stuck to the floor. I freed myself from Ominis' grip, shaking myself loose.
"Apparently, I'm ignorant."
I couldn't stand to see another second of Sebastian's face. I turned and left the Undercroft before he managed to form another word in his stubborn brain.
