Ethan's Point of View
Sofia and I walked into the dining hall hand in hand. As soon as we walked into the room, everyone started to clap and cheer.
"Congratulations, Alpha Ethan and Luna Sofia," Everyone said at the same time.
"Thank you, everyone," I said, and we walked over to the table where our family was. I pulled Sofia's chair out for her to sit, and once she was seated, I sat in the seat beside her.
"Well, hello," Ella said
"Hey," Sofia replied
"I thought I was going to have to go up to your room and drag you down here," my mom said, causing Sofia to blush. I knew she was blushing because everyone knew we had completed the mating process. She thought it was embarrassing for her dad and brothers to know. I told her that it was normal for werewolves to mate and that she had no reason to be embarrassed, but I could tell she still was. I understood because she grew up in the human world.
"I am so happy for the two of you," Stacie said with a genuine smile. I was happy that Sofia had Stacie and my mom now. Her mom never gave her the love that she deserved, and I was happy Stacie and my mom treated her like their daughter.
"Thanks, Stacie," Sofia said
"Let me see your Mark," Ella said to Sof, who was sitting on the other side of her. It's beautiful," Ella said as she looked at Sofia's mark, which had my black wolf with a crown underneath.
"Let me see yours, Ethan," Ella said as she got out of her seat and kneeled close to me so that she could look at Sofia's mark on my neck,
"Mine is a little different than the ordinary marks," I said
"You aren't kidding. I understand why the wolf, the witch's symbol, and the crown are there, but what is the third thing? It isn't fully developed yet," Ella said.
"I don't know. I was wondering the same thing," I said, and everyone at the table walked over to look at the mark on my neck.
"That is very unique," My mom said
"Yeah, I guess we will have to wait until it heals to see what it is," My dad added. We started eating and having small talk. Every now and then, one of the Pack Members would come up to us and congratulate us on completing our mating.
"I am so happy for you, son, but you know what I have to do now that you and Sof are fully mated," my dad said through the mind link. I thought for a moment, trying to figure out what he was talking about. Once I realized what he was talking about, I couldn't help the growl that came out of my mouth. The growl was so loud it got the attention of everyone in the room.
"No, that is not happening," I mind linked back. I was so close to shifting by how pissed off I was. Suddenly, I felt sparks go through my arm, and I looked at Sof. I could feel through the bond that she was worried and confused by my sudden change in attitude.
"What's wrong?" Sof asked confused
"Nothing," I replied, but I knew she knew I was lying. I knew she could feel it through our bond.
"Ethan," Sof said sternly.
"Ethan is upset because of something I told him in the mind link," My dad said
"What did you say that made him so angry?" Sof asked
"No," I said as I glared at my father.
"You can't stop what has to happen," My dad said, and I knew he was right.
"Okay, can you please tell me what's going on?" Sof asked, and I sighed in anger and frustration.
"Fine, but let's talk about it somewhere else," I said
"I think that's a good idea. Let's head to my office," My dad said
"Let's finish eating first," I said
"No, let's go there now," Sof said. I could feel through our bond that she didn't want to wait to find out what was going on.
"Okay," I replied, and Sof, our family, and I headed to my dad's office.
"Okay, what's going on?" Sof asked after everyone was seated.
"Once an Alpha and their Luna become fully mated. The unmated she wolves have a chance to challenge you for your position. Because you are the future werewolf queen, anyone can challenge you from any pack," My dad said
"What? Why didn't you tell me?" Sof asked as she looked at me
"Because I'm not going to let that happen. We don't have to agree with anyone's challenge," I said
"That is true, but if you reject the challenge, it will make you look weak. There hasn't been a challenge in hundreds of years," my dad said
"That is true. When I was up there, no one challenged me," my mom added
"But that might not be the same case for you. Everyone knows that you were raised as a human. They may think you are easy competition, and their are a lot of she-wolves that would love to become queen," my dad said
"She isn't going to accept a challenge," I growled.
"It should be her choice, son," My dad said. I was about to speak again but Sof spoke first
"I will go accept anyone's challenge if they challenge me."
