Sofia's Point of View
"Sof, are you alright? I know you are worried about King Lestat," Ella said. We were in her room up on Eric and Tammie's floor. Ethan wanted to make sure we were safe, so he thought it would be best for us to go to their floor. Nick, Jason, and some of the other guards that Ethan trusted were up there with us. Layla was sitting in Ella's room with us, and Brittany was asleep. We hadn't really spent much time with Layla because she was adjusting to being in the Castle.
Ethan and Eric were out with the guards looking for King Lestat. I was sure they weren't going to find him. He had to be long gone by now, and there was no way he was going to a place they would think of looking. Tabatha went with them, but I didn't think they would find him. Helena was stronger than her.
"I'm fine. I just wish we could have a day without any drama," I replied
"I know. I can't believe Helena was able to get away. Tabatha seemed so sure that her spell would work," Ella said
"I just hope they find him quickly, and we can stop worrying about him," I said
"Let's stop talking about this. It is so depressing," Ella said
"Okay, what do you want to talk about?" I asked, and Ella looked at Layla
"Why don't we talk about Jason and Layla," Ella said, and that caused Layla to look at us.
"Huh?" Layla asked shocked
"You and Jason seem to be getting along. He is the only one here that you hang out with," Ella said. It was true. Layla and Jason had been spending a lot of time together. He would go to her room and hang out with her. They ate together, and he had even taken Brittany and her shopping.
"He is really sweet," Layla said
"I am sure you will be completing the mate bond soon," Ella said causing Layla's cheeks to turn red.
"Hey, he is my brother. I don't want to hear anything about them mating," I said
"You are mated to my brother," Ella said
"Yeah, and I haven't told you anything about us mating," I replied
"Good point. I am just happy for you, Layla. You deserve to be happy," Ella said
"I agree," I replied with a smile
"Thanks. I am not ready to complete the mating process with him, but he does make me happy. He is the first man who treated me with respect," Layla said. I hated thinking about the things she had been through. I was happy Ethan and Eric were making changes to her old Pack. I could only imagine how many others had been abused.
"So are you nervous about tomorrow? YOu are going to become the werewolf queen," Ella said
"A little, but not about becoming the werewolf queen. I am more worried about gaining my vampire," I said. I was worried about how I would act once I was at my strongest and gained my vampire. Hopefully, I wouldn't crave blood and go on a killing spree.
"I am sure you will be fine. You are very strong, Sof," Ella said and I hoped she was right.
Ethan's Point of View
"Have you found anything?"I asked the guards. We had been looking for King Lestat and Helena all through the woods for hours.
"I am sorry but there is no trace of them. They are nowhere to be found," The guards said
"Okay, keep looking," My dad said but I knew it was a waste of time.
"They are not here, dad. I am sure they are long gone by now," I said, and my dad looked at Tabatha, who was walking toward us. "Did you sense anything?" My dad asked
"No, they are gone," Tabatha said. I knew we weren't going to find them. I was sure Helena cast a spell to hide their scent from anyone.
"We should head home," I said
"But King Lestat," Tabatha said
"Is gone. We won't find him," I said
"What about the crowning ceremony?" Tabatha asked
"It is still going to happen. We will just have extra guards around the area. I have also called some witches in the neighborhood packs to help out tomorrow," I said
"Why would you do that?" Tabatha asked. I could tell she didn't like the idea that I had called other witches tot he pack. She had been the main one we worked with since before I was born.
"Tomorrow is an important day and I am not risking anything," I said
" I agree with Ethan. I think it would be good to have extra help just in case to be on the safe side," My dad added
"If you say so," Tabatha said
"Well, we should get home. You and Sof have a big day ahead of you tomorrow," My dad said
"You two go ahead. I am going to stay with the guards for a while," I said
"Okay, don't stay out here long," My dad said
"I won't," I replied and Tabatha and my dad left.
Once they were gone, I made my way into the woods to meet the person I had been dying to talk to.
