My stomach twisted as I reluctantly lowered myself onto the bed.
Ryan was way too hyped today. The way his eyes burned into me made me feel like a rabbit caught in a wolf's sights...
A cold shudder raced down my back.
"Ryan, I—"
His fingers silenced me as a silk blindfold snapped over my eyes.
Total blackout. My pulse skyrocketed.
Sure, I had cravings, but nobody forced Jessica Chen into anything.
"What's with the blindfold, Ryan?"
His chuckle oozed sleaze. "Be good, Jess. New game—flavor guessing. I feed you pearls. Get it right, you score a Benjamin."
My throat tightened. "What kind of messed up..."
"Easy rules," he cut in, voice buzzing. "Correct guess equals cash. You in?"
I paused. "That's all?"
Please. I could ID boba flavors in my sleep. This was child's play.

Excess syrup dribbled down my chin, leaving gross sticky trails on my neck.
The AC must've broken because sweat prickled my skin like I was in a sauna.
"Ryan, these pearls are rancid—"
Another spoon jammed between my lips. The rotting seafood taste punched my sinuses.
I dry-heaved.

His voice went dark. "Walk away, you forfeit all earnings."
Like hell I'd surrender my cash.

Nothing. The break room's silence turned oppressive.
