Aveline struggled to explain, but her mouth was sealed tight. She tried to move, but her whole body was bound.
Sebastian gripped the whip, looking at the woman struggling and whimpering before him. Something made his eyelid twitch.
The room's lighting was dim. He suddenly had an absurd thought that she resembled Aveline.
"Honey, thank you for getting revenge for me. That madam really tortured me so badly, sob..."
Just then, Serena tearfully threw her arms around his waist, successfully dispelling his doubts.
Aveline didn't usually wear dresses, and she'd always kept the long flowing hair he loved. This short-haired madam in a dress couldn't possibly be his beloved Aveline.
With that thought, Sebastian's eyes lost all warmth, filled only with bloodthirsty madness.
"You dared hurt my wife. I'll make you suffer a thousand times worse."
"Crack!"
The whip fell with a vicious whistle.
The first strike made Aveline's spine go rigid. The barbs tore open the first bloody wound. She screamed, but the sound was muffled.
The second strike made her pupils contract sharply. The mangled flesh felt like it had been branded with hot iron. Her breathing became so rapid she seemed to suffocate.
The third strike made her bite through her lip from pain. Her body convulsed as she curled up, the agony reaching her bones, but there was nowhere to escape.
After ninety-nine lashes, her consciousness blurred. She was covered in blood but no longer struggled, only twitching mechanically.
In her delirium, she remembered Sebastian had promised to punish Serena severely, to bind and whip her. But he'd broken his word.
Now, the one truly bound and whipped, dying in agony, was Aveline herself!
Then Aveline heard Sebastian ask: "Serena, how many men did that madam arrange to assault you?"
"...Ten."
"Good. Then I'll make her suffer double." He coldly ordered his men, "Find a hundred of the filthiest beggars and give this woman some drugs."
He raised his shoe and kicked at her masked chin: "You dared hurt my wife. I'll make you regret ever being born!"
The mask fell to the ground.
"Sebastian..."
Aveline used all her strength to call out.
"If you knew the person you hurt was me, would you regret it?"
But all her bloodied words became unintelligible whimpers.
And Sebastian had already turned away, taking Serena's hand as they left.
"Serena, don't watch what happens next. It's disgusting. I'll stay with you these next few days..."
Their voices faded. Someone untied Aveline and forced a pill down her throat.
Aveline's heart felt like it had fallen into an ice cellar, but her body grew hotter and hotter.
Countless filthy beggars poured through the door, bringing a stench with them. Their gazes were lewd and obscene as they touched her body with their diseased hands and rotting fingernails.
Besides overwhelming nausea, Aveline felt shameful arousal.
She gasped heavily, her face flushed unnaturally, tears of humiliation in her eyes. If this continued, she'd truly be destroyed.
She stumbled toward a vase, smashed it, and drove a shard deep into her thigh.
The flowing blood finally gave her a moment of clarity. As the beggars closed in with nowhere left to retreat, she looked at the window behind her and jumped with desperate resolve.
Perhaps it was a stroke of luck—beneath the third-floor window was soft grass, and the nightclub's back door was open nearby.
Ignoring her injuries, Aveline fled like a madwoman.
Her phone buzzed with messages. One from Sebastian:
**Sebastian: Babe, this project will take a few more days. Be good and wait for me at home. Love you.**
Aveline laughed bitterly.
Another message came from the municipal office:
**System: Your identity deletion has been completed. All documents under this identity are now invalid.**
This time, she smiled genuinely.
Because she could finally leave Sebastian.
Back at the villa, Aveline quickly packed her things.
Sebastian had taken all of Aveline Hart's documents, but it didn't matter—because Aveline Hart no longer existed.
She only took her design sketches and some essential items.
Then she removed the blood-stained ring and placed it on the empty desk.
Just one look would tell Sebastian exactly what he'd done and what she'd endured.
Aveline had wanted to personally revenge herself on Serena, but she knew this ring alone would be enough to make Sebastian her instrument of vengeance.
When she left, night had fallen.
The midsummer sky looked like blue velvet, though city pollution made the stars appear dim.
But stars, no matter how faint, would eventually shine brilliantly.
Aveline bought a plane ticket to Paris under her new identity. As the plane soared into the clouds, she knew she was getting closer to the stars.
Goodbye, Sebastian. May we never meet again.
