Amber cursed Vivian's behavior inwardly, yet couldn't shake off a twinge of jealousy. Her feet seemed rooted to the spot, unable to move an inch.
Seeing Sienna actually nod in agreement, Amber stamped her foot angrily and stormed back to her room.
'She can't even handle a tiny challenge,' Amber thought with a scoff. 'Can't Sienna see she's just faking it? Vivian is such a shameless, despicable snake, a complete and utter snake.'
Clutching the stuffed toy tightly, Amber frantically pounded it with clenched fists as if she were taking out all her anger on Vivian.
Upon noticing Amber was no longer by the door, Vivian's lips curled into a triumphant smirk.
"Sienna, I'll go take my medicine first. If you're tired, you should get some rest," said Vivian.
Sienna nodded.
Linda and Jocelyn huddled together in the bedroom.
Linda complained, "Jocelyn, what are we going to do? Sienna actually got caregivers to look after your father, and now he yelled at me and didn't even want to see me."
Tears streaming down her face, Linda dabbed at her eyes, her shoulders trembling with sobs. Her heart was about to break.
Ever since Sienna came back, Linda couldn't eat well or enjoy anything and had to endure humiliation at every turn.
For ten years, she had lived in the lap of luxury and been pampered and admired. She had never suffered such indignity.
Jocelyn's eyes burned with seething hatred. 'Nothing must change,' she vowed inwardly. 'The Hart family will remain under our control.'
"Don't worry. Sienna's good days are about to come to an end," Jocelyn sneered venomously.
'Once the company hits trouble, let's see if she can still keep her cool. I'd love to see what she's really capable of,' she wondered.
The next day, as soon as Amber arrived at school, she immediately sensed that people were looking at her differently. To her surprise, even top students from Class 1 came forward and apologized to her publicly.
Mia was also a top student from Class 1, yet she constantly made trips to Class 10 all because of Amber.
As soon as class ended, Mia rushed over to Amber, pulling her into a corner. Guilt written all over her face, she pleaded, "Amber, what happened yesterday was all my fault. Just hit me once, otherwise, I really won't feel right."
Seeing Mia grab her hand, Amber quickly yanked her hand back.
Amber gently pulled her hand back and said, "Mia, what's this about? I told you. It's not your fault. Really, it's not. Stop beating yourself up over it."
Mia smiled and asked, "Amber, was that lady yesterday really your sister? Isn't Jocelyn your sister?"
Mia, of course, knew about Jocelyn and Amber's relationship. Amber nodded and said, "Yeah, Jocelyn isn't my sister."
"Wow. Your sister must be amazing, right? I'd love to meet her. Amber, could you introduce me to her next time? She's so beautiful and has such elegant grace," Mia said.
Mia's admiring gaze made Amber's heart flutter with excitement. The thought of Sienna being her sister instantly filled her with pride.
"Let's talk about it another time, Mia," Amber said.
Honestly, it was not like Sienna and Amber were that close yet. Besides, Amber still remembered how Sienna hit her because of Vivian.
And last night, Amber was angry that Sienna actually let Vivian share her bed.
'Such a weak-willed woman,' Amber sneered to herself. 'She's still in the middle of my test, anyway.'
Mia's eyes lit up as she exclaimed, "How about today then? After school, ask her to pick you up, and we can all grab dinner together. What do you say?"
"Sorry, she's swamped right now." Amber made up an excuse. She didn't even have Sienna's contact info; they'd only just met.
Mia looked crestfallen. "Okay," she murmured, exchanged a few words, then headed back to her own class.
Just as Amber was about to leave, she found Claire blocking her way, arms crossed, leaning casually against the doorframe.
Just thinking about how Claire deliberately approached Sienna at the hospital yesterday made Amber want to ignore her completely.
Amber walked right past Claire without so much as a glance.
Claire sneered, "Amber, I never thought you'd be this stupid. How could Sienna have a sister like you?"
Claire's tone dripped with mockery and contempt, instantly making Amber see red.
"Claire, why do you act so close to Sienna? Shut up." Amber fumed as she wondered, 'How dare she? What right does she have to so close to Sienna?'
Amber completely ignored Claire's words, but the moment she heard Claire's tone to address Sienna, her blood boiled.
Claire sneered, "Sienna said we are friends. It's none of your business, Amber. Sienna had my back yesterday and even praised me to my face."
Amber clenched her teeth, her eyes blazing with fury.
"Amber, if it weren't for Sienna, I wouldn't even bother with a moron like you. Here's a friendly tip. Don't let her play you for a sucker. You're so dense," Claire warned.
Claire turned to leave after speaking, but Amber strode over and blocked her path. "Hold it right there. What exactly do you mean by that?"
Yesterday, when Claire saw Mia tear up that letter, suspicion arose. After overhearing their conversation, everything clicked. Claire instantly understood what was really going on.
Claire looked at Amber. Amber was very cute, with pretty eyes tinged with gentle anger. Her lips were plump and inviting.
Without any makeup, Amber was incredibly beautiful. Although she had short hair, it only enhanced her charm.
Amber's puffed-up, angry-cute expression unexpectedly tugged at Claire's heartstrings. 'Damn it,' Claire cursed inwardly, finding herself unable to deliver the scathing remarks she'd planned.
Claire began, "Amber, are you truly clueless or just playing dumb? Can't you see Mia has been targeting you all along? That love letter was clearly meant to humiliate you.
"And those people who blocked you yesterday? They're all her close friends. Don't tell me you really believe it was just a coincidence?"
Amber froze for a moment, caught off guard. 'Is Claire really implying that Mia has set me up? No way. Mia is my best friend. We're really close friends. No way. Mia would never do that to me,' she thought.
"Claire, cut the crap with your discord-sowing. Don't think I don't see what you're up to. You're just bitter about yesterday's beating, so now you're trying to ruin my friendship with Mia? Well, I'm not buying it, so give it up." With that, Amber stormed off.
Claire thought, 'I've never met a girl this hopelessly dense, dumber than a brick. Anyone with half a brain could have figured it out. She really thinks I'm the one trying to come between her and Mia?
'Ruin their friendship? As if I have nothing better to do. Ungrateful brat. Can't even tell who's really on her side. What an idiot.'
"Idiot, if it wasn't her doing, then why was your name on that love letter?" Claire snapped. With that, she also turned on her heel and walked away.
Amber slowed her steps. Yesterday, the letter had been snatched away in the chaos, but she'd managed to grab it back. Her eyes skimmed over it, and there was Amber's name, written clearly on the envelope.
'Why would Mia write my name? Wasn't Mia supposed to confess to Adrian? By all rights, the letter should've had her name on it, not mine,' Amber wondered.
Amber puzzled over it all class but couldn't figure it out, so she simply stopped thinking about it.
At a coffee shop near the school gate, Susan and Sienna sat across from each other at the small table.
Susan nervously sipped her coffee, nothing like her usual stern homeroom teacher self. For some reason, she couldn't understand why Sienna made her so anxious.
Sienna waved her hand dismissively, signaling Lana to leave.
Lana gave a respectful nod, opened the door, and took up her post outside.
"Susan, there's no need for me to reintroduce myself. I'll be direct. I understand that both your daughters applied to Fellington University overseas, but unfortunately, they were rejected for various reasons," said Sienna.
Susan was visibly shocked and a bit embarrassed. Sienna was right. For families like Susan's, there was just no way to get into Fellington University on grades alone.
"Yes, Miss Hart." Susan nodded.
Susan came from humble beginnings. In Vallaris, where every inch of land was worth its weight in gold, she was just another ordinary face. Her greatest accomplishment was landing a job as a teacher at this elite school.
But inevitably, she was stuck with the worst-performing class, the one no other teacher would take.
