Lana noticed Sienna massaging her temples, concern flickering in her sapphire-blue eyes.
After a brief hesitation, Lana spoke gently, "Miss Enna, you haven't had a proper rest in days. Perhaps you could go for a spa treatment to relax? What do you think?"
Sienna shook her head slightly. "I'm fine. Keep a close watch on Jocelyn. Head back to the office. Miles will be arriving soon," she instructed Lana.
Lana swallowed her words and finally managed to say, "Alright, Miss Enna."
Lana asked, "Miss Enna, why don't we just teach Linda and Mr. Hart a lesson?"
Aiden was utterly unworthy of being a father. Though Linda had been sowing discord all these years, his lack of discernment was what caused Vivian and Amber to suffer immensely.
Sienna lifted her eyes, a glint of ruthlessness flashing in her cold, aloof gaze, yet her voice remained as calm as still water. "Lana, for some people, the real pleasure comes from peeling off their masks layer by layer.
"Simply killing them would be too merciful. Remember, psychological torment is far more entertaining than anything else."
"Understood, Miss Enna." Lana nodded.
Lana opened the car door and respectfully helped her out. She reported, "Miss Enna, one more thing.
"Anya informed me that Miss Vivian will be attending a business negotiation at the hotel tonight. She insisted on going alone and declined Anya's company."
Sienna asked, "Which company is she meeting with?"
Lana replied, "Miss Enna, it's nothing out of the ordinary—just a small company called Lewis Group that does business with Dynastis Company. What's noteworthy is that Lewis Group is actually a subsidiary of the Sinclair family."
Sienna fell silent. 'The Sinclair family?' she thought. 'Nora, how have you been?'
"Investigate someone. I want a full report on her by tomorrow," said Sienna.
"Your orders, Miss Enna?" Lana asked.
Sienna's cold eyes fluttered slightly, her voice laced with restrained sorrow as she said, "Nora Sinclair, the heiress of the Sinclair family."
"Understood, Miss Enna." Lana bowed.
Miles had been waiting for half an hour when Sienna finally arrived at the company. He stood up and greeted her, "Hello, Miss Enna."
Miles stood up and offered his hand. But when he saw Sienna's face clearly, he was utterly stunned, his breath caught in his throat. 'It's really her,' he wondered.
"Hello, Mr. Quinn." Sienna extended her hand for a brief, formal handshake, then quickly withdrew it. "My apologies for the wait. I was held up on the way."
Sienna wore a soft, vintage-inspired white dress, adorned with golden-pink embroidery that shimmered like flowing water along the sleeves and hem.
Exuding noble aloofness, she resembled an angel, untouched by the mundane world. Yet her gaze was icy and sharp, exuding a chilling intensity.
Her commanding presence radiated an undeniable authority, an intimidating force that made it impossible to look away.
"Not a problem, Miss Enna. Here are the terms my company is proposing," Miles said.
At thirty-three, Miles had gentle yet penetrating eyes behind his glasses. Dressed in a brown suit, he exuded a warm yet authoritative presence. The luxury watch on his wrist marked his status.
With her mask still on, Lana stepped out on her own and closed the door behind her. The next moment, Reno came charging at her mischievously, burying her face in Lana's chest.
Reno threw herself at Lana in a tight bear hug, but Lana, completely unfazed, just scruffed her by the collar and unceremoniously tossed her aside.
Lana asked directly, "Did you do what I told you?"
Reno pouted, casting one last longing glance at Lana's chest before unwrapping a lollipop and sticking it in her mouth.
"Come on. You only told me this fifteen minutes ago, Lana. You're way too by the book. I didn't even have time to catch my breath. Huh? Who's that guy? Not bad-looking," Reno teased.
Lana straightened her clothes. "Miles, CEO of Quinn Group and the heir to the Quinn family."
Reno nodded, took the lollipop out of her mouth, and held it out to Lana with a playful grin. "Want one? It's watermelon-flavored."
Lana reached out and grabbed Reno by the ear. Reno yelped, "Ow, Lana, I was wrong. I'm sorry. I won't say anything reckless again. Let me go. Help."
Chris was late again today. Lana promptly notified HR to withhold his entire month's salary. Furious, Chris barged into Lana's office and demanded, "Why the hell are you docking my pay?"
Chris wore baggy ripped jeans and a shirt with clashing patterns. Lana didn't even glance his way.
Lana said sternly, "Chris, this is your final warning. If you're late again, don't bother coming to work anymore."
Chris clenched his fists, grinding his teeth. "Fine, I'll come in, but at least let me do some real work. Why am I always the one fetching water, mopping floors, and unclogging toilets? I came here to work, not to be your damn janitor."
Lana said sternly, "I've told you. If you don't want the job, you're free to leave."
Chris yelled angrily, "I want to see Miss Enna. I want to see her right now. Lana, you're just an assistant. What gives you the right to treat me this way?"
Lana looked at Chris with undisguised disdain and scoffed, "Want to see Miss Enna? Chris, I told you—you're not qualified."
Chris felt utterly humiliated. Clenching his jaw, he spat out each word, "Who the hell are you to decide if I'm qualified or not, Lana? You're just a damn assistant.
"Hart Corporation is nothing but a pathetic little company. Do you really think you're something special? And Sienna? Not only did she steal her father's position, but she also— Ah—"
Before Chris could finish his sentence, Lana delivered a crushing kick to his chest, sending him flying across the room.
He landed hard, writhing in agony, feeling like every bone in his body was about to break. 'That damn woman,' Chris thought through gritted teeth. 'Why is she so strong?'
Lana advanced step by step, boosted by one-inch heels, completely overpowering Chris, even though he was much taller than her.
Lana narrowed her eyes at Chris and said coldly, "Chris, have I been too lenient with you lately?"
For the first time, Chris felt like prey under a predator's gaze, frozen in place, unable to move, pinned by Lana's disdainful stare and overwhelming aura.
Chris gulped, utterly speechless under her intimidating gaze.
"Pleasure working with you, Mr. Quinn," said Sienna.
"It's been a pleasure working with you, Miss Enna. Thank you for this opportunity," Miles smiled.
Sienna responded coolly, "The pleasure is mine, Mr. Quinn."
Sienna and Miles were hardly strangers. As fellow movers and shakers in the business world, they had crossed paths several times over a decade ago.
The Quinn family was no stranger to power struggles, plagued by illegitimate heirs and internal chaos. But after Miles rose to power, he brought order to the dynasty. No pushover could ever claim such a position.
As soon as Miles got into the car, his assistant couldn't wait to ask, "Mr. Quinn, what does Miss Enna look like? Is she getting on in years?"
Miles took off his glasses and began polishing them methodically. "What do you mean by that?"
The assistant said, "Mr. Quinn, ever since Hart Corporation changed hands, no one's even seen what the new CEO looks like. She doesn't go by Miss Hart. People call her Miss Enna instead.
"All we've heard are rumors. She spent ten years overseas, so she must be married with kids by now. Plus, as the eldest daughter, she's probably—"
It was rare for the assistant to see Miles smile, let alone with such a heartfelt smile as she did today.
Miles said, "Don't buy into those rumors. She's still every bit as stunning as she ever was."
She was even more dazzling, more flawless, more formidable, and more breathtaking than ever.
Just like eleven years ago, when Miles first met Sienna. Back then, he was still the rigid, book-obsessed PhD student his family knew.
His father had taken Miles to a business summit, where he first encountered Sienna.
Dubbed as the most prominent socialite in Vallaris's elite circles, Sienna lived up to her name, bold, dazzling, yet aloof.
At just seventeen, Sienna had already taken the reins of Hart Corporation as its youngest-ever CEO.
That was the first time Miles couldn't fathom how a seventeen-year-old girl, still in school, full of youthful innocence, could possibly be the CEO of Hart Corporation.
Miles, lost in his academic pursuits, couldn't comprehend how someone could effortlessly juggle so many responsibilities, while the scholarly honors he took such pride in were mere child's play to Sienna.
Miles had read all of Sienna's papers and published books. Each one struck a deep chord in him, leaving waves of emotion that lingered long after he finished reading.
Fate could be cruel to the truly gifted. Ten years ago, a tragic accident claimed Sienna's life, or so everyone thought. Little did anyone expect she would miraculously return.
The assistant finally understood what Miles meant. With a teasing smile, he said, "So that's why you were up so early this morning, all your preparations were for Miss Enna."
An awkward look flashed across Miles's face. "Just focus on driving."
After work, Sienna headed home early to find Linda and Jocelyn, for once, diligently doing their assigned chores. Elisa reported to Sienna, one by one, what she had assigned them that day.
Amber trudged in with her backpack, a wayward strand of short hair drooping limply. She was clearly not in the best of spirits.
Linda's eyes lit up at the sight of Amber as if she'd found her lifeline. Day after day at home, she'd been deliberately slighted by Elbert and staff. They treated her like anything but the mistress of the house.
"Amber, you're finally home. I've missed you terribly," Linda gushed with exaggerated warmth.
