"You didn't go the wrong way, it's here!" Baron's large body blocked the door, giving Paisley no chance to leave.
"You must be Paisley, right?" he raised his voice, his eyes filled with obvious admiration and lust.
Paisley furrowed her brows, not wanting to waste time here. She had come to meet Gregory and gather information about the Sullivan family's backers. But things had gone completely off-course, and now she was blocked by this disgusting man.
She stepped back a few paces, putting some distance between herself and him. At the same time, she took out her phone and sent a message to Lucy. There was no need to wait another half hour—every minute she stayed felt like torture.
Baron assumed Paisley was texting Gregory for confirmation, and chuckled, "No need to ask, it's me! Your dad, mom, and sister are in the next room! Your dad asked me to wait for you and give us some space to talk!"
As he spoke, Baron began to move closer to Paisley. Paisley frowned, calculating when Lucy and the others would arrive. Baron was blocking her path, and even though she wanted to leave, she couldn't. She had to stall him for now.
"You wanted to talk, right? Sit down and talk then." She kept her gaze fixed on him, and once he sat down, she sat as far away from him as possible.
Baron chuckled, the more he looked at Paisley's face, the more he liked it. "I'm Baron, the only son of the Jackman family. Everything my family owns will be mine. If you're with me, you'll live a life of luxury."
"I don't understand what you're saying." Paisley started playing dumb, trying to buy some time.
Baron frowned, "How do you not understand? Stop pretending! Didn't your dad tell you? He wants you to marry me. As long as I like you, he'll make you marry me."
Paisley's face remained cold as she ignored everything Baron said. She kept calculating in her mind how much longer it would take for Lucy and the others to get there.
Seeing that Paisley wasn't listening, Baron got angry. "You ungrateful bitch! Just because you're pretty doesn't mean you can get cocky in front of me!"
He stared at Paisley like she was a commodity to be bargained for. "Let me tell you the truth. I didn't want to do this. You didn't even finish school. What good family would want someone like you? You'd mess up the next generation!
"It's only because my dad and your dad have some business dealings that I'm coming to meet you."
Baron leaned back, eyeing Paisley from head to toe. "I'll tell you now, you better know your place. Serve me well and give me a son, then maybe I'll treat you better. Otherwise, no matter how beautiful you are, I'll still beat you if I want to!"
At this moment, Paisley was relieved that she wasn't as fragile and helpless as the Sullivan family and the others had described. She wasn't completely clueless.
If she were, when faced with such a situation, her only option would have been to fight for her life, and she might not have had any way out.
"I think Gregory might have played you. I didn't come here to be set up for a blind date. If I'd known beforehand, I definitely wouldn't have agreed." Paisley still wanted to communicate with the person reasonably and avoid physical confrontation if possible.
As long as the other person was a bit sensible and let her leave, that would be enough. However, she had overestimated the person Gregory introduced her to. He was a self-important thug and bully.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Baron slammed his large, fat hand on the table. "You brought me and my family here and now you tell me this? You look down on me? Do you even know what you're worth?
"What do you have besides your face? Even the Sullivan family has to respect the Jackman family! Your dad can't even speak harshly in front of my dad, and you dare refuse me!"
Paisley knew that talking was useless now. She didn't want to say anything more. Lucy and the others should be arriving soon.
"Sorry, but I really have to leave. If you're upset, go vent to the Sullivan family! This has nothing to do with me!" Paisley stood up, trying to leave. But her action only served to anger Baron, this emotionally unstable beast.
He suddenly stood up, his large body knocking the chair over. "Damn it, I'm not letting you leave today! I'll skin you alive!"
From the moment Baron laid eyes on Paisley's appearance, he had already considered her his property. After all, in his mind, Gregory had sold Paisley to their family.
They could choose not to buy her, but the Sullivan family couldn't refuse to sell. Now, Paisley wasn't showing him any respect, which was like slapping him in the face.
He wouldn't allow his little pet to disobey him. If she didn't obey, she would be punished. Just like his three previous wives—each one had been beaten by him.
From their brief interactions, Paisley had already sensed his bad character, but she didn't expect his emotions to be so unstable. Now, his eyes were bloodshot, and he really looked like he was about to tear her apart.
Paisley leaned back slowly, using the chair to block her body. "I warn you, calm down. If not, the one who'll suffer will be you."
Baron sneered, "Damn it, who in Harrowfell can make me suffer? Let me show you what suffering feels like!"
With that, his massive body lunged toward Paisley. "Your dad is hell-bent on making you a member of the Jackman family. Today, I'll make his wish come true!"
As Baron's filthy hands were about to touch her, Paisley quickly raised the chair and pushed it into his chest. But soon, she realized her strength wasn't enough to fight back against him.
Just then, a server's scream was heard from outside. "What are you people doing?"
"Mind your business, get out of the way!" It was Lucy's voice.
Hope appeared in Paisley's eyes, and at the same time, she relaxed her arm. Baron let out a sinister laugh and threw the chair away, leaving her no way out.
Suddenly, the door to the private room was kicked open with a loud bang. A wine bottle crashed into the back of Baron's head.
"Are you okay?" Lucy screamed, throwing the glass shards in her hand and rushing toward Paisley.
However, the wine bottle barely scratched him, just breaking the skin a little.
"Who the hell hit me? I'll kill you!" Baron roared, completely losing control, turning into a wild beast.
He howled, charging toward Lucy and Paisley. "Oh, so now it's buy one get one free? Fine, I'll take both of you!"
Fortunately, Lucy had brought some people with her. Having been instructed beforehand, several of her men stormed into the room and began smashing anything they could grab, whether it was a person or an object. They started hurling everything they could at Baron.
Meanwhile, in the large private room next door, faint sounds of the commotion and Baron's shouting could be heard. Gregory and Christina instinctively looked at Keith and Marianne, only to see a satisfied yet lewd smile on their faces.
They were clearly happy because they thought Baron was already having fun with Paisley. This way, their connection with the Vanderbilt family would be secured.
