"Dominick!" Paisley's voice came at the door. She was out of breath from rushing.
When she got the message from Emery, she had just parked the car. The message said Dominick was already there and asked her to come back quickly.
Worried that Dominick might not follow the plan, Paisley hurried toward the hospital room. As soon as she reached the door, she heard Dominick's words.
"Hmm?" Serena tilted her head, looking at Dominick, not understanding why Dominick suddenly got so emotional.
Seeing his daughter's innocent and clear eyes, Dominick stopped himself from saying anything further. Emery and Maria both let out a relieved breath.
"Rena," Paisley quickly entered the room and walked over to Serena.
As soon as Serena saw her mom, she forgot everything and focused entirely on Paisley.
"Mom, I woke up just now and didn't see you. I didn't cry. I am a good girl." Serena snuggled into Paisley's arms, looking up for praise. It was absolutely adorable.
"Mm, you're the best." Paisley rewarded Serena with a kiss on the cheek.
"Come on, let me kiss you too." Emery leaned over and kissed the other cheek of Serena, then subtly signaled to Paisley to pay attention to Dominick behind her.
Paisley nodded knowingly, stood up, and pulled Dominick out of the room. "Come with me."
Dominick didn't resist and followed Paisley out of the room. She led him all the way to the end of the hallway before stopping. "Dominick, what's going on? Did you forget what you promised me?"
She glared at Dominick, but he didn't respond, silently staring at their hands.
Paisley looked down and realized she was holding Dominick's hand. She was about to pull away, but his hand gripped hers tighter. His large hand nearly enveloped hers completely, and she couldn't shake him off.
"Let go! I told you to let go!" Paisley struggled to pull her hand free, but his grip only tightened.
"Paisley, you're the one who grabbed my hand." Dominick smiled faintly and leaned closer to Paisley, forcing her to look up at him due to his height advantage.
"Still not letting go? I never knew you were this shameless." The hallway was full of people, and Paisley didn't want to draw unwanted attention, so she lowered her voice and warned him.
Dominick took advantage of this, his smile growing more mischievous, and his words became even more shameless. "How could you not know? I was like this from the start, and you liked it, didn't you?"
His words left Paisley speechless. When they first got together, Dominick's intentional domineering behavior always made Paisley blush and feel her heart race.
But back then, she was just a woman longing for love, naive and ignorant about relationships. Now, she was divorced and a mother of two.
So, she leaned in closer to Dominick and lowered her voice even more. "There are a lot of people here, and I really don't want to draw attention. But that doesn't mean I won't get angry and slap you."
Dominick was shocked and speechless. When did this woman become so violent?
"Let go!" Paisley shook her hand again. This time, Dominick didn't play around and obediently let go. But the warmth left on his palm made him feel an unbearable loneliness.
"Dominick, what were you about to say to Rena?" Paisley withdrew her hand and took a step back, distancing herself from him.
Dominick sighed, his voice returning to its usual calm tone. "I haven't forgotten what I promised you. I just wanted to tell Rena that I'm not anyone else, that's all."
Honestly, he wasn't sure what he was going to say next. Maybe, at that moment, he would have impulsively told her he was Serena's father.
But he was glad he didn't say it in the end. Otherwise, he wouldn't know how to face Paisley now.
The image he had left in Paisley's mind was already bad enough. He didn't want to make it worse. Wanting to acknowledge his daughter was important, but Paisley meant more to him.
"Good. You should go back now, there are guests in the hospital room, it's not convenient for you to stay," Paisley said as she walked towards the room without even saying goodbye.
Dominick stood there, turning to look at Paisley's back with a sorrowful gaze.
Paisley returned to the hospital room, and Emery looked behind her, not seeing Dominick. "He left?"
"Yeah, he left." Paisley rubbed her forehead, feeling a bit tired.
She was indeed tired today, not physically, but mentally.
First, she had to go to the studio and handle the accumulated work urgently. Then, on her way back, she ran into some things with the ladies' association. She barely had a moment to rest before meeting Dominick.
Emery noticed Paisley didn't look too well, so she walked over and started massaging her shoulders.
When Emery touched Paisley's tense shoulders, she frowned, "Wow, your shoulders are even stiffer than mine after years of sewing. And your neck is so tight, haven't you been resting well lately?" After asking, Emery rolled her eyes. "Like you could get any rest."
Paisley closed her eyes, enjoying Emery's massage. "It's fine, I have you to help me."
Emery chuckled. "Of course, my skills are the best. Hey, didn't Dominick take this doll with him?"
Paisley opened her eyes and saw the limited-edition doll beside Serena's bed.
"Mom, I said I don't want it. I already have one," Serena said.
Paisley picked it up and looked at it. "Yeah, Rena already has one of these."
She handed it to Emery. "Here, for your massage fee."
"I don't want anything from that man. Besides, I'm too old to play with dolls." Emery threw the doll onto the side table with a look of disdain.
The next moment, Paisley's voice came up softly. "That doll is worth 400 thousand."
"Oh my!" Emery's face changed faster than a page turning. She rushed over to the side table, hugged the doll, inspecting it from all angles. "400 thousand"
"Yeah," Paisley nodded. "It's handmade by a famous designer. The eyes are made of gemstones, and the clothes are from luxury high-end brands. See the logo? That's the brand."
Emery started inspecting the logos on the doll and the clothes that came with it. After looking, she couldn't stop marveling.
"What kind of doll is this? The diamonds are real!" Emery held the doll, unable to speak for a long time. After a while, she finally said, "Rich people are crazy."
At this point, Maria couldn't stay calm anymore. "Paisy, are you saying that all the dolls Rena has at home are worth millions?" Maria's voice was full of disbelief.
While cleaning the house, she had thrown the dolls around without care. If she had known she was tossing around millions of dollars' worth of dolls, she would have been much more careful.
Paisley looked at Maria's pale face and smiled, "Not all of them are that expensive, some are cheap."
Even though Paisley said this, Maria decided to go back to the villa and carefully store all those dolls away.
In the hospital room, the atmosphere was harmonious. In contrast, the Sullivan family villa was a picture of gloom.
When she got the message from Emery, she had just parked the car. The message said Dominick was already there and asked her to come back quickly.
