Dominick only gave the manager a faint glance, too lazy to say a word to her. His attention was entirely on Paisley. "Why aren't you eating?"
Seeing Dominick's lecturing expression, Paisley immediately felt rebellious. "Why does it matter to you whether I eat or not? Are you so free? Why are you here in the first place?"
"Paisley, you—" Dominick was enraged by Paisley's indifferent attitude and gritted his teeth.
Julian had arranged all the food trucks as per Dominick's instructions, finding the best hotels in Harrowfell to prepare everything. Watching Paisley being ungrateful and even showing disdain, Julian felt sorry for Dominick.
"Dominick is just worried about you, afraid you'd forget to eat because of work," he said.
"So, this is his way of interrupting our normal work? What? Does he want me to thank him?" Paisley wasn't impressed by Julian and, hearing him speak for Dominick, snapped back without hesitation.
The appearance of the food trucks had indeed disrupted the normal filming schedule.
"I didn't know." Dominick's voice became softer, and there was a hint of embarrassment on his handsome face.
"You didn't know," Paisley couldn't help but laugh angrily.
Dominick was always like this, thinking he could express himself in his own way without understanding others.
She used to be a housewife, while he was always busy with work and socializing. Her concerns and complaints were all blocked out, as he thought she was just making a fuss.
Now that she was busy with work, he was making a big deal out of her missing one meal.
"Dominick, I never knew you'd be so concerned about me missing one meal." If he cared this much now, why couldn't he do the same back then? Was she not the same person as before?
Dominick's gaze froze. He didn't know how to respond to Paisley's question. Of course, he cared about her before. But back then, there were servants cooking meals at home.
He thought she was all taken care of by the servants and there was no need for him to worry about these little things.
But now, Paisley had stepped out of his protective circle. She no longer belonged to him, so he wanted to know if she was okay at all times. But he couldn't say this aloud. After all, it was his fault in the past.
Paisley didn't want to get into these things with Dominick at work. She looked around at the other crew members and the staff at the food trucks, unsure if they should continue working.
"Everyone, don't worry. Keep eating. Don't be shy." She knew if she didn't say this, the rest of the crew would feel awkward about continuing.
Dominick watched Paisley smile at the crew, sighed, and then said, "Yes, everyone, please don't hold back. Eat as much as you want. And please take good care of Paisley. Thank you."
With food and drinks in hand, and hearing the president of the Vanderbilt Group speak so gently, everyone eagerly agreed.
Sam and his manager had already run off. Staying any longer would only make them a bigger joke. The only one left was Sam's poor assistant, sadly gathering the untouched snacks.
Feeling bitter inside, he was about to cry. Paisley noticed him and asked Lucy to check on him.
No matter what, Sam was already signed on as the lead male, it was a done deal. Even if it wasn't for him, for the sake of the project, they couldn't kick him out of the crew at this point.
Plus, at this stage, the whole crew couldn't handle the hassle of switching actors. Paisley knew this, so she didn't want to make things more awkward with Sam.
Before long, Lucy came back, and the assistant had a smile on his face.
Turns out, the assistant knew he had messed up, and Sam wouldn't let him off easily. He definitely wouldn't get reimbursed for the money spent on the snacks, so he'd have to pay for it himself. It wasn't cheap to treat the whole crew to snacks.
Lucy reimbursed the assistant for the money, but of course, Paisley made sure to charge it to Dominick in the end. After all, this whole mess started because of him.
As Paisley looked for Dominick with the bill, she saw that the bastard had somehow ended up standing next to Gary. "Here, pay up," Paisley held the bill right in front of Dominick.
"Oh, sure," Dominick didn't even ask, just took out his phone and transferred the money to Lucy.
Paisley raised an eyebrow as Dominick didn't even ask what he was paying for.
"Alright, I appreciate your kindness. Now you can leave." Paisley didn't want to argue with Dominick anymore, and she definitely didn't want to see him in her workspace. It would just mess with her mood.
But Dominick just smiled. "Nion, you don't have the right to make me leave."
Paisley was confused. Why was he calling her Nion? She looked at Gary, demanding an explanation as to what they were talking about.
Gary looked a little apologetic as he looked at Paisley. "Uh, Ms. Vaire, Mr. Vanderbilt has just become our main investor."
Even if he wasn't an investor, with Dominick's status, Gary wouldn't dare kick him out. After all, it was just one word from Dominick that made all the investors pressure Gary to cast Brittany as the lead.
Now Dominick had added more investment, just so he could have a more legitimate reason to be on set and keep tabs on everything happening in the crew, specifically, on Paisley's every move.
Paisley glared at Dominick, then coldly turned around and walked back to the set.
The pleasant mealtime ended, but the food trucks didn't leave. Per Dominick's request, they would stay until the day's work was done. This way, whenever Paisley was hungry, there would always be food available.
After a short break, the filming continued. Dominick moved a chair and sat next to Gary, giving off a vibe of an investor coming to visit the set.
Paisley couldn't be bothered with him as long as he didn't disturb her.
The next scene was a crucial one. However, maybe because of the earlier incident, Sam couldn't get into character, causing multiple takes to fail. In frustration, Gary looked at Paisley for help.
Paisley had no choice but to go over, gather all the actors together, and walk them through the scene, helping them with the performance.
Dominick sat next to Gary, watching the monitor. The monitor showed Paisley walking the actors through the scene, and every moment of her expression was captured in Dominick's eyes.
She furrowed her brow, smiled, became serious, then relaxed. Every change in her emotions deeply moved Dominick's heart.
"This scene is beautiful, right?" Gary said, looking at the monitor, genuinely complimenting.
"Yeah, it's beautiful," Dominick softly replied, but his gaze stayed fixed on just one person. Even though there were other beautiful actresses around her, none of them entered Dominick's sight.
Gary noticed Dominick's gaze and then looked at Paisley on the monitor. "It's a shame she's not an actress. She has all the best qualities."
He was sure that if Paisley wanted to be an actress, she could potentially become the biggest and most beautiful actress in the entire industry.
Just then, on the monitor, it seemed like there was a flash of cold light above Paisley's head. Dominick looked up, his expression immediately changing to a serious one.
