Because Ocean was Tyson's most trusted person, he held an important position within the Godard family. At certain times, his authority even surpassed Edmond's.
Ocean stayed behind at the old mansion with a few bodyguards. While watching over Tyson, he eagerly awaited Max's return with the medicine.
Finally, when Max and Leo's car drove into the courtyard, Ocean happily ran out to greet them. But what he saw was a trunk full of luxury goods, with Leo taking them into the house, piece by piece.
Ocean froze, murmuring, "Where's the medicine?"
Leo looked at Ocean, at a loss for words, not sure how to answer.
On the way back, Paisley remained silent, eyes closed, either asleep or deep in thought.
A few times, he wanted to speak up, but Max stopped him.
Knowing he wouldn't get anything from Leo, Ocean turned to Max. "Max, where's the medicine?"
His voice was shaking, but he saw that Max was also empty-handed, no sign of the medicine.
"Without medicine, how are we supposed to detoxify Sir?" Ocean asked coldly.
Max looked around for Paisley. He saw her get out of the car and walk straight into the old mansion, holding a bag with a purse inside.
"Ocean, don't panic," After saying that, Max followed Paisley into the house.
Ocean's face turned ugly as he went to the trunk, throwing all the luxury goods onto the ground. "What did you all do on this trip?"
"We-we went shopping with Ms. Sutton to buy a purse," Leo said, also feeling frustrated. But he knew Max wasn't someone who acted without thinking. If he allowed Paisley to do this, it meant he knew exactly what he was doing.
Ocean's face darkened, full of anger, and he chased after them.
Paisley had made her way to the third floor, Tyson's room. When she saw his steady breathing, the tension in her body eased a little.
Honestly, she was also afraid, afraid that Tyson wouldn't be able to wait for her to bring the medicine back.
"I'm asking you, where's the medicine?" Ocean suddenly rushed up, standing in front of Paisley, his eyes filled with rage.
Max, worried about Paisley injuring her wrist again, quickly pulled Ocean away. "Ocean, be a bit more polite to Ms. Sutton."
Paisley raised an eyebrow slightly and gave a light laugh, thinking, 'Hmm, I'm back to being Ms. Sutton again.'
"Stop yelling. If you keep yelling, I'll make you leave," Paisley said, clearly not wanting to listen to this loud man named Ocean.
She gently placed the bag she had been holding onto the bed, carefully unwrapping the layers of packaging before pulling out the purse inside.
As soon as Ocean saw the purse, his anger flared up so much he almost lost control. But then, he saw Paisley open the purse and take out several sealed bags of medicine.
Without the bag blocking it, the room quickly filled with the strong scent of the herbs. Even though they were tightly sealed, the smell couldn't be fully masked.
Ocean froze, staring at Paisley and the medicine in her hands.
Paisley handed the medicine to Ocean, saying coldly, "Go brew it until three bowls of water are into one."
Ocean hurriedly took the medicine, holding it as if it were a precious treasure, his voice trembling. "I-I don't have a pot to brew the medicine in..."
Paisley frowned, "Just use anything, hurry up."
Ocean quickly replied, "Okay, I'll brew it myself."
With that, he carefully carried the medicine and walked out of the room.
Just then, Leo finished moving all the luxury goods and walked upstairs. Before even getting close, he smelled the strong scent of the medicine in Ocean's hands.
"Uncle, is that medicine?" He looked at the herbs in Ocean's hands in shock.
"Yes... yes," Ocean said with bloodshot eyes, "Come on, let's go brew the medicine together."
Leo scratched his head and turned to look toward the room. He thought, 'When did they get the medicine?'
Inside the room, only Paisley and Max remained.
As Paisley started cleaning her hands for disinfection, Max asked, "Do you need me to leave?"
"Do as you wish," Paisley said, preparing to remove Tyson's needles.
Removing needles was different from inserting them. It didn't require as much focus, so whether anyone was around didn't matter.
Hearing that, Max stayed where he was, standing to the side and watching Paisley carefully remove the needles.
Just a while ago, Max had been anxious about whether Tyson would survive. But now, watching Paisley remove the needles, he felt a deep sense of calm.
At that moment, he knew that as long as she was there, Tyson wouldn't die.
"I'm sorry." It wasn't until Paisley removed the last needle that Max spoke again.
Paisley didn't even look up as she cleaned and disinfected the needles she had removed. "What are you sorry for?"
Max stepped forward a few paces and got closer to Paisley. "Sorry, I shouldn't have doubted you earlier at the mall."
He had even warned Paisley at one point, admitting that he had lost trust in her back then.
"It's okay," Paisley responded indifferently, showing no change in her emotions.
Seeing Paisley's flat reaction, Max couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed inside.
"Well..." He tried to find a topic. "How should we settle the consultation and medication costs?"
"That's fine." Paisley placed the sterilized needle back. "Consider it part of the medical fees."
The luxury items Paisley bought today had already cost Max over one million, and the costs of the herbs barely covered it. And the reason she came over to treat Tyson was purely for her own selfish reasons.
Otherwise, even if Max offered an astronomical price, she might not have been moved.
"So, you bought me those things to put on a show, right?" Max asked.
Paisley adjusted the needle kit and rubbed her wrist. "Mm, kind of."
The show was partly for those trailing them. Since the herbs hadn't arrived yet, she couldn't just sit there waiting without moving; that would definitely raise suspicions. On the other hand, Paisley did want to buy some things.
She had promised Serena she would bring gifts when she returned, so if she was going to bring them, she might as well get everything. Emery, Maria, and Linna all had their share.
Max stared at Paisley deeply, feeling even more admiration for her. He had no idea how Paisley managed to make those herbs appear in that bag so smoothly, there was definitely some operation he didn't understand.
But one thing was undeniable—Paisley had really helped him out this time.
"What should I do? I owe you again," Max said with a soft laugh, a certain unspoken emotion flickering in his eyes. "How do I repay you?"
Paisley placed the needles in her bag without looking at Max's face, so she didn't see the emotions swirling in his eyes.
She returned to the bedside and checked Tyson's pulse, then carefully examined him. Throughout the process, in her eyes, there was no one else but Tyson.
Instead, she spoke to Max in a businesslike tone, "I'll go check on the medicine, how's it boiling?"
