Paisley was so embarrassed that she quickly waved her hand to stop the loud greetings.
Paisley glanced downstairs, where the crowd and cars were blocking the entire street. "Tell those downstairs to leave."
Now that the crisis was over, continuing to crowd around like this would only cause negative attention.
The big guy nodded and took out his walkie-talkie. "Everyone downstairs, leave. Ms. Sutton is safe now."
At his command, car horns blared outside in succession.
They were well-trained and efficient. In no time, the streets returned to their usual quiet.
Leo had been injured slightly in the earlier fight. He walked over, a bit unsteady, looking at Paisley in surprise. "Ms. Sutton, did you hire these people to help?"
The big guy, the leader, had come up calling her Ms. Sutton and seemed to take orders from Paisley. It was obvious these people had been following Paisley's instructions to come here.
Before Paisley could respond, the big guy with the mighty palm strike spoke first. "Help? This is just a matter of Ms. Sutton's word."
After saying that, the big guy introduced himself, "My name's Jake Dean. I run a security company in Brightmoor. Ms. Sutton, you are my prestigious benefactor, my lifesaver. Whatever it is, as long as you let me know, I would do it without hesitation."
Jake's words made Paisley feel awkward again. The guy was fine in every way, but that whole "street-smart" vibe of his was something he could never shake off. But then again, she thought that was part of his charm.
For a security company to be able to gather so many people in such a short time, it was clear how big the company was.
Jake said that Paisley was his benefactor.
That meant, Jake's security company, and all the people under him, were supported by Paisley.
Realizing this, Leo changed his attitude towards Paisley—from initial disdain to later appreciation, and then to outright shock.
Leo thought, 'Not just Cloud Crest Winery, but a security company of this scale too? A weak, frail woman like her can actually run such a massive business? So, Brightmoor is actually Ms. Sutton's turf.'
'No wonder when she hears they’re coming to Brightmoor, she doesn’t even ask any questions—she just agrees. She even helps them smoothly get the medicine. Turns out, she’s confident, not worried at all about things going wrong. After all, this is her territory.'
Max gazed deeply at Paisley, thinking she always surprised him in ways he didn't expect.
He found himself unknowingly drawn to her unique charm.
"Thank you," Max said with a bitter smile, but his eyes sparkled with admiration, "I owe you so much, I don't even know how to repay you."
At that moment, Leo blurted out, "How about offering yourself in return?"
Max froze for a second. 'Offer myself, maybe?' he thought.
Behind them, Tyson's harsh cough interrupted the conversation.
Ocean, looking anxious, called out to Paisley, "Ms. Sutton, please come check on my brother."
But before Ocean could even shout, Paisley had already rushed to the bed as soon as she heard Tyson's coughing.
She first gave him acupuncture to calm his breathing, then checked his condition. After a few actions, she spoke in a calm tone, "Where's the medicine I told you to boil?"
"Ah?" Ocean suddenly remembered, his medicine was still on the stove. "Oh no, my medicine..."
Luckily, Ocean had followed Paisley's advice and hadn't turned the heat too high when boiling the medicine the second time.
By the time he reached the small kitchen on the third floor, the medicine was still simmering on the stove.
Tyson's breathing gradually steadied. He stared at the young woman who was removing the needles from him. "So, you were the one who saved me."
Leo leaned in and explained, "Mr. Godard, this Ms. Sutton is the one Max brought over from Harrowfell for you. Ms. Sutton is an excellent doctor. When Max's leg condition flared up, she gave him one shot, and Max was immediately back on his feet."
Leo thought, though he was exaggerating a little, it wasn't entirely untrue.
After Paisley gave Max the shot, Max was able to walk again.
Unlike before, when no matter what he did, from medicine to acupuncture to physiotherapy, he would still be in pain for several days.
At that moment, Leo completely forgot that he had once questioned Paisley's medical skills.
Tyson slowly nodded. For some reason, as he looked at the young woman's face, hearing Leo's words, he inexplicably felt a sense of pride, as if he shared in her glory.
But he had never met this girl.
"What is your name?" he asked, a hint of expectation rising in his heart.
Looking at Tyson so close to her, Paisley felt mixed. "Paisley."
'Why do I feel she looks like a Godard? Didn't my daughter get found by the Beaumont family from Harrowfell? Her name is Brittany, born by Enya.' Tyson thought.
He said, "Thank you so much today. If it weren't for you, all of us might have ended up here."
If that happened, Tyson'd never get to meet his real daughter, and he would die with regrets...
So at this moment, Tyson was genuinely grateful to Paisley. "Really, thank you. You're my savior, Paisley."
Tyson laughed as he said, quoting what Jake had just said, "From now on, anything—just ask, and I'll do anything, even risk my life for it."
Just after saying that, probably from talking too much in one go, Tyson's breath became uneven, and he started coughing again.
Luckily, this time it was just a light cough caused by shortness of breath. Paisley rubbed a few pressure points on Tyson's body to help him breathe easier. "Actually... I..."
Paisley felt more mixed. Tyson was right there in front of her, and if she just spoke up, she could get the answer she wanted in no time.
But every time she was about to say something, the words got stuck in her throat. She didn't even know what she was afraid of. It was just a really complicated feeling.
"What's wrong?" Tyson looked at Paisley with a gentle gaze.
"I actually—"
"Oh, by the way," Tyson suddenly remembered something, smiling as he asked, "I heard you're Max's girlfriend, is that true?"
Tyson's words interrupted the courage Paisley had just gathered to speak. "Huh?"
"No, Dad," Max explained, "It was just a temporary measure. At that moment, things were critical, and to get Ms. Sutton inside smoothly, I pretended she was my girlfriend."
"I see..." Tyson said, a bit disappointed. "If she were really Max's girlfriend, that'd be great."
He really liked Paisley. He trusted his first impression—she was definitely a great girl.
"Well, you'd better try harder," Tyson said to Max, his tone meaningful. He could tell what Max was thinking as Max's eyes were always on her.
