Tyson vaguely sensed something and his expression darkened. "Child, tell me, why is your surname Sutton? Why isn't it Sullivan?"
He thought, 'This girl has clearly said before that Brittany's adoptive parents are her parents.'
Paisley shrugged. "Paisley has been my name since I was three. My adoptive grandfather's surname is Sutton."
"Adoptive?" Tyson's expression turned grim. Even lying in a hospital bed, he exuded an intimidating aura.
"Yes. Before I turned three, my name was..." She thought for a moment. She had almost forgotten, but after that nightmare about Christina, she remembered again.
"Before I was three, my name was Grass. Yes, that's the name," she remembered.
Though Paisley didn't say much, Tyson managed to get the key message. "So, they abandoned you when you were three, didn't they?"
His face turned deathly pale again, his breathing uneven—his rage was getting the better of him. His irregular heartbeat and skyrocketing blood pressure triggered the monitor beside his bed, sending out sharp, urgent alarms.
Tyson's emotional fluctuations were severe this time, forcing Paisley to take out her needles again to administer acupuncture. This time, she performed the procedure while Tyson was fully conscious.
Max and Ocean rushed in the moment they heard the voices. Right behind them, Leo arrived with the medical staff.
As soon as they entered, they saw Paisley performing acupuncture on Tyson.
At the same time, the previously blaring alarm on the monitor stopped. Even so, the medical team didn't dare to be careless. They quickly stepped forward to check the equipment and Tyson's condition.
As the monitor readings stabilized and they observed that, in addition to the needles in his body, Tyson's blood pressure and heart rate had normalized, they all breathed a collective sigh of relief.
They couldn't help but focus on the sight of Tyson covered in needles and Paisley still administering treatment.
The expressions of the medical staff varied, but all carried a trace of astonishment—especially after witnessing Paisley's skillful acupuncture technique.
"Sorry for troubling you all," Max said politely to the medical team.
After leaving a few reminders, the medical staff exited the room without lingering.
They were well aware that the people in this ward were not ordinary. The group had arrived the previous night, accompanied by numerous bodyguards.
Among them was Jake, the head of Brightmoor's largest security company.
He was someone no one would dare provoke lightly.
So even if they felt it was against hospital regulations for a family member to perform acupuncture in the room, they kept their mouths shut.
Besides, they had already been instructed not to offend anyone in this room—especially the young woman administering the treatment.
As Tyson calmed down, he quietly watched Paisley working on him. The corners of his lips curled up slightly, but his eyes carried a trace of sorrow.
"Control your emotions. Stop getting worked up like this—it's exhausting for me," Paisley said with a furrowed brow.
"I'm sorry," Tyson replied obediently. He had to listen to Paisley his daughter.
Paisley noticed the look in Tyson's eyes—it reminded her of how Serena looked at her when asking for praise.
She raised an eyebrow but didn't slow down her hands.
Seeing how well Tyson and Paisley were getting along, Ocean felt genuinely happy for Tyson. He thought, 'From now on, Ms. Sutton would be the most distinguished young lady of the Godard family.'
Just then, Max's phone rang—it was Morris calling. Max's brows furrowed slightly.
He glanced at Tyson and Paisley before stepping out of the room with his phone.
"What is it?" he asked.
Morris's voice came through the receiver. "Uncle, when are you and Great Uncle arriving in Harrowfell? Aunt is still waiting for you both."
A cold glint flickered in Max's eyes as he turned to look at Paisley inside the room.
"My father isn't feeling well. We'll have to wait a while," Max responded indifferently.
"What's wrong with Great Uncle? Do you need us younger ones to come visit him?" Morris asked eagerly, as if he were genuinely concerned about Tyson.
"No need; my father requires rest," Max refused coolly, and then added, "Tell that family not to rush. Just wait."
Since the door wasn't closed, Tyson caught parts of Max's conversation. When he saw Max return, he let out a cold laugh. "That was from Harrowfell?"
"Yeah, Peter's eldest son—Morris," Max replied honestly.
Over the years, Tyson had gained some understanding of the Beaumont family in Harrowfell.
Just like their own Godard family, it was a tangled mess.
Peter was completely incompetent, and his children constantly schemed against one another. Because of that, Byron still couldn't fully relinquish control.
"Are they rushing me over to acknowledge my daughter?" Tyson asked, his eyes fixed on Paisley.
Max sat down on the sofa. "Uncle has never publicly acknowledged that girl, but Morris, on the other hand, is being quite proactive."
The reason was clear—Morris wanted to secure his position as the heir, and drawing the Godard family to his side was an easy shortcut that came with no downsides. Unfortunately, that shortcut had taken a sharp turn.
