Paisley didn't look up, but she could already feel Gary's helplessness and the gazes of everyone else in the room directed at her.
Even Lucy couldn't stand it anymore. She gently tugged at Paisley's sleeve and said, "Paisley, can you do something about Mr. Vanderbilt?"
Paisley felt a splitting headache coming on and was utterly annoyed by Dominick. She thought, 'Since when has this man become so childish?'
Frustrated, Paisley shot up from her chair and marched over to the big troublemaker, her face cold. "You. Come outside with me."
With that, she turned and walked out without looking back.
Dominick remained as composed as ever, as if he hadn't noticed the fury on Paisley's face. He stood up leisurely, dusted off nonexistent dirt from his clothes, and said to Gary in an authoritative tone, "Continue filming."
Then, under everyone's watchful eyes, he strolled casually after Paisley. As soon as they stepped out of the studio, Paisley lost her patience and threw the script in her hands straight at Dominick. "Dominick, are you out of your mind? What's your problem?"
Dominick's expression remained unchanged. It wasn't the first time he'd been hit by Paisley, after all.
He bent down gracefully, picked up the scattered pages, and patted them with his long fingers. "I'm the investor. If their performance isn't good, I have every right to say something."
Paisley was so furious at his shameless reasoning that she nearly collapsed. "Gary has been rushing progress so everyone can have time off for Christmas. So, as the investor, could you not disrupt their work?"
Dominick froze for a moment. He hadn't thought of that. He was always busy and never really paid attention to holidays. After all, during his busiest years, he hadn't even celebrated Christmas.
"Sorry, I just wanted you to pay attention to me." His voice softened, and even his gaze lost its usual sharpness.
Paisley nearly rolled her eyes to the heavens. "Dominick, I remember you once said that if you ever bothered me again, you'd bark as a dog to entertain us. What? Forgot your own words so soon?"
"Woof." Paisley went speechless. "Woof, woof."
Paisley froze. She thought, 'Am I hearing things? Did Dominick just bark like a dog?'
"Dominick, are you serious?" Paisley was mad yet amused. She thought, 'Did this shameless man even know what he was doing? Where was his dignity?'
"Of course." Dominick looked completely unfazed. "I stand by my own words. So, if you think that wasn't enough, I can keep going."
With so many people around, Dominick and Paisley felt sorry for Dominick.
"Enough, I get it." Paisley didn't want to waste more time arguing with him—she had work to do.
She stepped forward but then stopped, turned back, and asked in confusion, "Dominick, are you really that free? Don't you have work? I remember there was a time when you didn't even have time to take my calls. So what exactly are you doing now?"
Dominick was indeed very busy, but he had pushed all his work to the afternoon and evening just so he could free up his mornings to see Paisley.
Her question hit him right where it hurt. He had long realized his mistake. Back then, it was his negligence that had slowly pushed Paisley away. Now, he wanted to make up for it. He wanted Paisley to see a different side of him.
Just as Dominick was about to speak, Paisley had already lost her patience.
She stepped forward, yanked the script out of his hands, and warned, "Anyway, I'm telling you—don't interfere with the filming process again."
As she spoke, she raised the script as if she was about to hit him. The message was clear: if Dominick dared to disrupt the shoot again, she wouldn't hesitate to beat him up in front of everyone.
Dominick stood in place, watching Paisley's furious figure storm away. His lips curled into a smile.
He thought, 'She's so cute. Even when she is angry, she is adorable.'
Not long after Paisley returned to the studio, Dominick strolled in at a leisurely pace.
Gary glanced at Dominick uncertainly. Seeing that he didn't seem upset, he finally relaxed a little, and the shoot resumed.
Soon, it was lunchtime. Dominick had already arranged for meals to be delivered in advance. He planned to have lunch with Paisley before heading back to the company.
However, Max's food arrived before his did.
"Paisy." Max's voice rang out from outside the studio, followed by a chorus of gasps from the young women inside.
Sheela approached Paisley curiously. "Nion, who's that?"
"My brother," Paisley replied, smiling as she stood up and walked toward Max. She completely ignored Dominick, whose face had darkened to an extreme shade nearby.
