Ocean stood there awkwardly, holding Tyson's phone. If it had been anyone else, he would have declined the call immediately.
But Max's name was on the screen, and knowing that today was the day Paisley and Serena were arriving in Montera, Ocean hesitated.
Originally, Max was supposed to attend today's meeting since he held absolute authority within the company. But he insisted on picking up Paisley at the airport. Tyson agreed that if he, as her father, couldn't personally welcome her, at the very least, her brother should.
"Whose call is it?" Tyson asked, frowning.
"It's Max," Ocean replied.
Tyson glanced at the time, his eyes lighting up as his entire expression changed. "Give me the phone."
Ocean quickly handed it over. Tyson didn't even check the screen—he just answered.
The next second, a soft and childish voice echoed through the silent conference room.
"Grandpa!" As soon as the video call connected, Serena hit him with three adorable attacks in a row.
Seeing Serena's face and hearing that sweet, innocent voice, Tyson couldn't keep a straight face. His entire expression melted into a wide grin, and even his voice softened.
"Rena, did you and Mommy arrive?" Tyson asked.
"We did! Uncle picked us up. Mommy and I are in the car!" Serena said as she turned the phone toward Paisley.
Seeing Paisley's face, Tyson felt warm. "Was the trip tiring? Montera is really cold. Did you get cold?"
From the background, Paisley could immediately tell that Tyson was still in a meeting.
Paisley said, "Don't worry. I'm not tired. We got in the car as soon as we left the airport, so it's not cold either. You don't have to worry about us."
"That's good. Go home first. I'll get back as soon as I can." Just as Paisley was about to tell him to focus on work and not rush, Serena grabbed the phone.
"Grandpa, when are you coming home? I miss you so much!" She blinked her big, watery eyes, and Tyson was completely defenseless.
"I'm coming home right now. I miss you too!" At this point, Tyson was practically itching to wrap up this useless meeting and rush home to Serena.
Little did he know, Serena's sweet words were just the setup—her real request was coming next. "Grandpa, Uncle said you finished building my big castle. Is that true?"
Tyson was momentarily stunned, and then chuckled, "Of course. It's all ready, just waiting for its little owner."
Serena giggled, her excitement through the roof. "Grandpa, Grandpa. I love you the most!"
Everyone in the conference room watched as Tyson's grin stretched almost to his ears.
"Alright, Rena. Grandpa is working right now, so let's not disturb him." Paisley stepped in just in time, or else they would keep talking over the video.
It was only after the call ended that Tyson finally tore his gaze away from the phone, still smiling from ear to ear.
The room was dead silent. Everyone was in shock. They thought, 'Is this really the same Chairman we know? We have worked with him for years—when have we ever seen him smile like that?
'Especially when he was talking to his granddaughter just now—his cautious tone and softened voice made him seem like a completely different person.'
They were so used to Tyson being cold, strict, and efficient that this sudden change left everyone struggling to process it.
But just as they were still reeling from the shock, Tyson had already snapped back into his usual cold and commanding self.
"Hurry up. Move on to the next agenda item," he ordered sharply.
Tyson thought, 'This damn meeting—when would it finally be over? I've got to get home to see my daughter and granddaughter.'
With Tyson's command, the vibe in the conference room immediately turned tense and focused.
Edmond's face darkened. Beneath his refined exterior, he was filled with frustration. Behind him, Zim watched Tyson, deep in thought.
After a long car ride, they finally arrived at the Godard estate. The estate covered a vast area and had a traditional architectural style. The gardens, corridors, courtyards, and landscape designs all exuded understated luxury.
As soon as the car passed through the gate, a wide lawn spread out on the left.
To the right, there was an artificial lake surrounded by jagged rocks and artificial hills. In the center of the lake stood a four-sided pavilion.
On the far side of the lake, a winding path led through a bamboo forest to the backyard.
Max pointed to a building in front of the lake. "That's the banquet hall. Most of our guests are entertained there."
Following Max's finger, Paisley looked toward the banquet hall—a four-story building. Even though there wasn't a banquet happening, servants still came in and out from time to time.
As the car drove further inside, Max took the opportunity to introduce Paisley and Serena to the mansion's architecture.
When Leo finally parked in front of the main building, he said, "Miss, we've arrived."
At the entrance, the butler and several servants were already waiting. As soon as the car stopped, they hurried forward. Some opened the car doors, while others handled the luggage.
Max got out first, and the old butler immediately greeted Max before personally opening the backseat door.
The moment the old butler looked inside, he spotted Serena, sitting in her car seat with her delicate, doll-like features. "Oh my, this must be Miss Rena."
"Hello. I'm Rena." Serena greeted him politely, just as Paisley had taught her—to always say hello first when meeting someone.
The butler's face lit up with joy. He instantly adored this child. He couldn't help but compare her to Bella, who was about the same age but far less well-mannered.
After all, he had served as the Godard family's butler for decades—since the old master's time. Even Anna always spoke to him with respect. But every time Bella saw him, she would shout at him. If things didn't go her way, she'd even lash out.
He had taken quite a few punches and kicks from Bella.
When he first heard that Tyson had found his biological daughter Paisley and that Paisley would be bringing her three-year-old daughter Serena for Christmas, he was a little worried. One Bella was already hard enough to handle. If there was another one like her, that would be a nightmare.
But the moment Serena opened her mouth, she sweetly greeted him with a big smile.
Comparing the two, the butler immediately thought Serena was an absolute angel.
