The tall caretaker instantly realized Anna was warning her and got so startled that her hands trembled, almost dropping the tea set.
Being Anna's caretaker meant she had considerable influence within the Godard estate. Outside the manor, even more people—friends and relatives—relied on her connections, hoping she could help them land a job in the Godard household.
Even with the Godard Group, if she begged Anna, she could still get an ordinary position. So, she really didn't want to lose this respectable and well-paying job. "Okay, Anna, I got it."
Anna didn't say anything else and just waved her hand at her. As for the tea Paisley brought, she didn't drink it anymore.
After leaving Anna's office, Max carried Serena and took her to the big castle she had been dreaming about. This so-called big castle was actually just a temporary two-story pink house that Tyson had built in the garden in front of the main building.
It was nowhere near a real castle, but it was more than enough to make a little girl happy.
To ensure Rena's health, Tyson hired a professional team and used only materials that were completely safe for humans.
After it was completed, they even ran multiple safety tests to make sure there wasn't a single thing that could harm Serena.
The castle was designed in a romantic pink theme, and the designer thoughtfully decorated the outer walls with lots of bows and candy elements. Overall, it looked both romantic and adorable—like a mix between a castle and a candy house.
A beautiful picket fence surrounded a small garden, which had a shallow pond and all kinds of flowers. In the garden, there was also a small carousel spinning slowly.
Back at Nathaniel's club, Nathaniel had prepared a tiny castle just for Serena, where only she could enter, and she had been overjoyed with that.
Now, seeing this huge pink castle with a carousel inside, Serena was beyond ecstatic.
If there had been more time, Tyson would have built an entire amusement park for Serena at home.
"Mommy, look. It's a really big castle. And a carousel!" Serena couldn't wait to climb down from Max's arms and, with her little legs, ran straight toward the castle.
Even Paisley hadn't expected the castle to be this dreamy—she actually liked it a lot too.
It wasn't just the exterior; the inside of the castle was also beautifully done. There were three different themed rooms, each decorated in a whimsical style. There was even a small break room stocked with fresh fruits, snacks, and drinks.
Serena rolled around in every themed room before running outside to ride the carousel.
During this time, Max suddenly got an urgent work call. He quickly told Paisley and then stepped away for a bit.
Paisley stayed with Serena, watching her play on the carousel. It was just an ordinary, small carousel—Serena had played on plenty before. But maybe because this one was hers alone, she was overjoyed, riding it over and over again.
After a while, as she was having so much fun, Serena said she was thirsty and wanted some water.
"You're thirsty? Let's go inside and get some water." Paisley reached out to lift her off the carousel.
"No, no!" Serena didn't want to get off—she wanted to keep playing.
Seeing how happy Serena was, Paisley gave in. "Okay, I will go inside and get the water. You stay right here and don't get off by yourself. Wait for me to come back, okay?"
"Okay." Serena nodded obediently, hugging the wooden horse's neck even tighter.
Since the carousel wasn't spinning too fast or too high, and they were at home with house staff passing by nearby, Paisley figured it wouldn't be a problem to quickly grab some water.
Without thinking much, she turned and went into the pink castle.
Just then, the carousel came to a stop.
Serena remembered what Paisley said and stayed seated like a good girl. Her legs swung back and forth happily.
At that moment, another little girl, about Serena's age, ran over. When she saw Serena sitting on the carousel, she widened her eyes. "Who are you? Why are you on my horse?"
Serena turned and saw the girl standing below.
"I'm Rena. I'm not on your horse—this is mine." Serena remembered that Tyson made this for her, as per Max.
"No, it's not!" Serena shouted. "This is my castle! My horse! Get off!"
Serena pouted. She remembered Anna telling her that there was another little girl in the family, about her age, named Bella.
Serena thought, 'So this fierce-looking girl must be Bella.'
"Bella, let's play together!" Serena said, as Anna had said she should play with Bella.
"I don't want to play with you!" Bella huffed, and then caught sight of the gold jewelry hanging around Serena's neck.
It looked exactly like the one Bella had—the one Anna gave her. Bella thought, 'She must have stolen it. She snuck into my castle, rode my horse, and now she even stole my gold jewelry!'
Bella's face turned red with anger. Without another word, she stepped forward and grabbed the locket around Serena's neck. "Thief! Give me back my locket!"
Bella kept shouting while pulling down, and Serena started falling along with them.
Paisley had only been inside the castle for less than three minutes to get some water when she heard Bella screaming. She rushed out immediately.
And the moment Paisley stepped outside, she saw what was happening.
"Rena!" she gasped and sprinted toward Serena, but she was still a step too late.
Bella yanked Serena right off the wooden horse. The gold chain with the gold jewelry around her neck snapped from the sudden force.
"Ah!" Serena hit the ground with a painful cry.
"Rena, let me see. Are you okay?" Paisley scooped Serena up and checked her carefully.
Thankfully, the mini carousel wasn't very high, and the ground around it was covered with soft artificial grass. Serena didn't get hurt from the fall. Her butt just hurt a bit, but Paisley rubbed it a few times, and she was fine.
But just then, Paisley suddenly heard the sound of crying. A loud wail pierced the air.
It wasn't Serena crying—it was Bella who had pulled Serena down.
Paisley looked over at Bella, who couldn't have been older than five. With delicate features and chubby cheeks, Bella looked like a pampered little kid.
And right now, Bella was clutching Serena's gold jewelry. Her eyes were squeezed shut, mouth wide open, bawling their lungs out.
"Bella! Bella! What happened?" Florence's voice came from a distance, getting closer.
In no time, a well-dressed Florence rushed over with a few people following her.
Seeing Bella crying hysterically, Florence felt her heart ache. "Bella, what's wrong? Tell me."
"Mommy! My gold jewelry is broken!" Bella sobbed, pointing at Serena. "She sat on my wooden horse, stole my locket, and broke it!"
