Zim rubbed his brow, feeling truly exhausted. He couldn't believe things turned out like this.
"Zim, look at Tommy. He can't stay like this, we should take him to the hospital," his cousin Sandy said with tears in her eyes, her voice soft and gentle.
"Ever since Tommy was thrown out of the Godard family, he's been crying, repeating, 'Don't throw me, don't bury me in the ground.' He's been refusing adults from getting close, and right now, he's still wearing those pants soaked with urine," she added.
Over time, the smell of urine had become unbearable. Keeley was immediately hit by the strong stench of urine. She quickly covered her mouth and nose and stepped back.
"Tommy smells so bad, why hasn't anyone changed his clothes yet? Do you want to kill me with that smell?" she complained.
Zim shot her a sharp look, and Keeley, feeling the sting, closed her mouth and obediently stepped farther away.
"Zim." Sandy gently placed her hand on his, nudging him lightly. "Let's take Tommy to the hospital."
"To the hospital? For such a small injury? Are you trying to make things worse?" Zim was already annoyed, so his tone was sharp.
Sandy was shouted at, and she leaned back, lowering her head as she silently started to cry.
Seeing her like that, Zim softened a little. "Tommy's just scared. If he's still not doing well in a few days, we'll take him for a full check-up."
Sandy lifted her head, her eyes shimmering with tears. "Mm."
Just then, the uncle, Anthony, who had been silently smoking by the side, spoke up. "Zim, are you really going to let this go?"
"Yeah!" Mary, who had been tidying up the kitchen, came out. "Tommy is your son. He's been beaten up by that girl from the Godard family. As his father, you can't just ignore this!"
Mary paused, then got to the point. "And Keeley has been kicked out of the Godard family. What are you going to do about it? Is she going to live here forever?"
Keeley scoffed, "I don't even want to stay here! I'll have my brother book me a presidential suite later."
Mary's face went pale, and she didn't say anything else, turning back to continue cleaning the kitchen.
Anthony stubbed out his cigarette and continued, "Zim, don't forget the promise you made to me and your aunt. Your parents died early, and it was me and your aunt who gave you food. You married into the Godard family for your career, worried about the family's future.
"I brought my daughter Sandy from the countryside, took the risk of being called improper to sleep with you to help you have an heir."
"Dad! What are you saying?" Sandy blushed, embarrassed.
"Shut up! Men are talking, don't interrupt!" Anthony scolded her, then turned back to Zim. "You promised me that you'd get everything from the Godard family, and I would also get to be someone important. That's why I let my daughter follow you without any status.
"But now, we haven't gained anything. First, Tommy gets beaten, then Keeley gets kicked out. A man should be the head of the family. You went into the Godard family through marriage, and you're just asking for trouble."
Keeley, who had been feeling wronged for being slapped by Zim, now stood up for her brother when she heard Anthony. "Uncle, I don't like what you're saying.
"Sure, you and Aunt gave me and my brother food, but my brother earned the money for our schooling. You didn't give us anything else. And by the way, that food wasn't even good.
"Now, everything you eat, use, and live on is provided by my brother. He hasn't complained, so why are you complaining?"
Anthony's face darkened immediately after being rebutted by Keeley. But Keeley's words were the truth, leaving him without a comeback.
"Enough! Everyone, be quiet!" Zim shouted in anger. His outburst was something that hadn't been seen in the Godard family before. He looked menacing, his face dark and vicious, like a snake in the shadows.
"This matter won't end like this. I will make the entire Godard family pay!" He paused, then laughed. "But right now, the most upset and angry person is not me."
Over at the second branch of the Godard family, Edmond sat on the couch in the living room, his face dark. Christopher, lost in thought, paced back and forth in front of the coffee table.
"Dad, what do we do? After the holiday, I'll have nothing left! I'll be just like Paisley said, a useless person."
Just recently, everyone had considered Paisley to be the useless one. Now it suddenly changed to him.
He rushed over to the coffee table, looking panicked at his father. "Dad, we can't let this go. We can't let Paisley take away the company I'm managing and the projects you have. This is clearly an attempt to cut us out!"
Edmond's dark face finally showed some reaction.
Christopher continued, "I know now. This is all my uncle's scheme. Whether or not the child is involved, today he's using Paisley to take away our resources!"
"Damn you, Tyson, do you really think you can make a fool out of me?" Edmond's fist, resting on the coffee table, slowly clenched.
"Dad, think of something! We have to stop my uncle and Paisley before the holiday ends!" Christopher was more desperate than anyone.
He knew that once Christmas break was over, he would lose his power. If that happened, he would never have a chance at that supreme position again.
"Right, we need to stop them," Edmond responded in a low voice, his eyes cold and calculating. "If Tyson doesn't want me to have a good Christmas, then he'll pay for it."
Early in the morning, Serena woke up at her usual time. She tried to sit up, but the pain in her body made her lose strength, and she collapsed back onto the bed. To her surprise, she found Grayson lying next to her, still sound asleep.
"Hmm? Didn't Grayson go back with that mean man last night?" Serena blinked and watched Grayson's nose rising and falling with each breath, his mouth occasionally twitching, her mischievous side kicking in.
She stretched out her little hand and gently poked Grayson's face. Grayson looked even cuter while he was sleeping.
Serena just wanted to give him a light poke, but because her back hurt so much, she misjudged the force, and the poke ended up being a bit too hard. It directly woke Grayson up.
"Hmm, Rena, what time is it?" Rena was the name Grayson gave to the AI robot in his room. Yes, he named the robot after Serena.
"I don't know. I can't read the time," Serena answered seriously.
After hearing her babyish voice, Grayson suddenly opened his eyes and turned to see Serena's sparkling eyes. "Rena?"
"Hmm, it's me. Didn't you call me?" Serena blinked her eyes and asked.
"Uh—" Grayson didn't know how to explain. He didn't want to tell Serena that he used her name for the robot. And the truth was, he did it because he was jealous of her.
"Awake?" Paisley's voice suddenly rang out in the room.
Serena's eyes lit up, and she excitedly shouted, "Mom!"
"Mom?" Grayson froze, his eyes awkwardly darting toward Paisley.
