"You just stood by and watched me get suppressed by Tyson, humiliated by him! You're biased toward Tyson! What right do you have to criticize me?" said Edmond.
Every word Edmond spoke felt like a sharp blade, stabbing deep into Anna. Edmond stormed toward her and continued, "Old lady, you'd better shut up and stop annoying me, or I'll send you along with him!"
"What did you say?" Anna thought she had misheard, but the cold, menacing look in Edmond's eyes confirmed that she hadn't. She couldn't believe Edmond just threatened to kill her.
Edmond smiled cruelly, "Don't think that just because you helped me this time, I'll be grateful. I won't! You didn't help me at all! This was always mine to begin with. You owe me! I'm not Tyson, I won't indulge you endlessly! If you anger me, I'll kill you too!"
Anna staggered, her eyes rolling back. If it weren't for the short caretaker supporting her, she would have collapsed on the spot.
"My lady! Don't get too worked up! Hold on!" The short caretaker tried to help Anna sit on the sofa, but at this point, her body had lost all strength and was as limp as a heavy sack. She couldn't support her on her own.
She looked at her partner, the tall caretaker. "What are you standing there for? Come help!"
But the tall caretaker just stood there, watching the short caretaker struggle to support Anna. They both fell to the floor.
"Come here! Don't you see she needs help?" The short caretaker screamed, panicked.
But the tall caretaker still didn't move. Instead, he looked at Edmond with a sly grin. "Mr. Edmond, would you like some tea? I'll go make some for you."
Edmond looked at the tall caretaker, impressed by how well she knew her place, and laughed loudly, "Sure, go ahead!"
The short caretaker could only watch as her former colleague ran off cheerfully to make tea for Edmond and his family. "You are heartless! Anna has been so good to you! How could you do this to her!"
In the past, the tall caretaker had been more adept at flattering Anna, which is why Anna had been especially kind to her.
The tall caretaker wasn't bothered. "A wise bird picks the best tree to perch on, you know! I'm just a lowly worker, of course I'll go where the power is. Anna is just a confused old thing, sticking with her, and I won't have a good life."
Anna heard everything and trembled uncontrollably. She regretted it. She shouldn't have been swayed by Edmond and agreed to help him trick Paisley into leaving.
If Paisley hadn't left, Edmond's scheme wouldn't have worked. She wouldn't be in this passive situation and wouldn't have destroyed the family. She had wronged Tyson, Paisley, and the entire Godard family.
But she couldn't have known that Edmond would turn out to be this ruthless. After all, he was her own son. She thought, 'Oh, what have I done!'
Meanwhile, at Rainfall Retreat, since Josie stopped drinking milk before bed as Paisley had suggested, her mental state seemed a little better. At least after waking up, her brain fog lasted less time.
Over the past few days, she had even hired a special instructor to teach her about business management. Now, she was sitting at her desk, reviewing the annual reports sent to all shareholders of Godard Group.
In the past, she couldn't even be bothered to look at these reports. She'd left everything to Zim to handle. But now, after looking, she noticed some issues.
The data related to her business in the report didn't match the figures Zim had reported to her. Just then, footsteps sounded behind her.
She turned around and saw Zim, smiling. "Zim, you're just in time. The data on this report doesn't match what you told me. Has something gone wrong in the group?"
Up until this moment, Josie had never suspected Zim. She just thought that there had been an issue in the group and was planning to ask Tyson about it later.
Zim glanced at the computer screen and then sneered, "With your brain, how can you even understand this?"
"Huh?" Josie froze for a moment, then turned to look at Zim in shock. "Are you talking to me?"
Zim had never spoken to her in such a tone, nor would he ever humiliate her with words.
"Of course I'm talking to you, who else could it be?" Zim raised his hand and slapped her on the back of the head. "You useless thing!"
The slap on the back of her head made Josie's body lurch forward, and her forehead collided sharply with the computer screen in front of her.
Josie cried out, clutching her forehead as she stood up from the chair. "Zim, are you crazy? You actually hit me!"
The Zim in front of her felt unfamiliar to Josie. Especially those eyes—cold and venomous, like a snake—were completely different from the gentle image of Zim she had always known.
"Zim, you're here!" A sweet voice of a woman rang out at the door of the study.
Josie turned her head and was stunned. The woman standing at the door was Zim's cousin, Sandy, who was also the older sister of Keeley.
"What are you doing here? Who let you in? Why wasn't I informed?" Josie demanded, her gaze sharp as she looked at Zim.
In the past, Zim's family members would always let her know before coming. Only after getting her permission would Zim arrange for them to come. Later, because Josie didn't like Tommy, Zim's family members had rarely come to the Godard family.
Seeing Josie's arrogant attitude at this moment made Sandy find her utterly laughable.
"This is my home. I can come whenever I want. No one can stop me." Sandy walked coquettishly to Zim's side, took his arm, and then, standing on tiptoe, kissed him on the lips.
"You! You two!" Josie's eyes widened in shock, unable to believe what she was seeing.
But Zim didn't push Sandy away; instead, he pulled her into an embrace and deepened the kiss. Only then did Josie realize what was happening and, in a frenzy, ran toward Zim and Sandy.
"Bitch! Zim, you actually betrayed me!" she shouted. However, before she could get any closer, two burly men who had appeared from nowhere quickly restrained her.
"Let go of me! Who are you? How did you get in?" Josie struggled fiercely, panic consuming her.
On the other side, Zim had finished his kiss with Sandy, holding her tightly in his arms, looking at Josie mockingly. "Josie, I've had enough of you, you useless old hen that doesn't even lay eggs!"
Every word Edmond spoke felt like a sharp blade, stabbing deep into Anna. Edmond stormed toward her and continued, "Old lady, you'd better shut up and stop annoying me, or I'll send you along with him!"
