Such crude and disdainful words coming from Zim were a devastating blow to Josie. It felt as though her brain had been hit with a heavy hammer, and tears began to flow uncontrollably from her eyes.
"Zim!" She screamed in anger. The suffocating feeling of being betrayed and despised by the man she loved tore her apart.
Sandy looked at Josie, unable to hide the triumph in her eyes. But she still moved closer to Zim, pressing her body against his. "Zim, she's so scary, her voice is so shrill, I don't want to hear it."
Zim tightened his hold on Sandy, standing tall with a cold, arrogant expression. He spoke coldly to the two men restraining Josie, "Tie this noisy woman up and gag her."
"Understood." The two men replied in unison, using their tools to tie her up and gag her.
"Let go of me! Zim, how dare you do this to me! This is the Godard family!" Josie struggled, but her hands and feet were bound, rendering her unable to move, only able to twist her body, her tear-streaked face dodging the hands of the men.
"Someone! Help me! Someone!" Josie screamed like a madwoman.
But it was all in vain. No one came to help her, no one came to save her. With a loud slap, one of the burly men slapped Josie across the face.
"Damn woman!" One of the men cursed impatiently as he held Josie down.
The slap left Josie dazed, her head and ears ringing. Her body swayed weakly, and for a moment, she couldn't make another sound.
The two men quickly tied her up completely and took the opportunity to grope her. Finally, they shoved a filthy cloth into her mouth and wrapped transparent tape around her head to secure it.
Zim stood there, watching the men assault her, but showed no sign of moving or caring. He watched as Josie cried out in anger, as she helplessly struggled, as she fell into despair. Not only did he feel no pain or objection, but he was even overly excited.
The excitement and thrill in Zim's eyes were cruelly absorbed by Josie. She writhed like a madwoman, her bound mouth releasing painful wails. She didn't understand, didn't believe it, couldn't accept it.
Her good husband, her loving partner suddenly changed. He became so completely rotten, so utterly hopeless. It was really too cruel. There wasn't even a moment to buffer it for her.
Just yesterday, she had been immersed in the tenderness and sweetness this man gave her, feeling incredibly lucky that even after the huge blow from her mother, when she returned to her own space, there was still a loving Zim waiting for her.
But now, Zim was kissing another woman. He said he had long since had enough, calling her an unproductive old hen. He let these two men bully her, violating her dignity. Josie felt like she was about to go insane.
"Brother! What's going on outside? They're not listening to me! You should go talk to them!" Keeley entered the study with a resentful face. When she saw Josie bound up, she was startled. "Ah! Josie!"
A tiny glimmer of hope ignited in Josie's desperate eyes. She twisted her body and made whimpering sounds from her mouth, gazing at Keeley with a pleading look. Keeley was someone she had treated like a real sister.
"Keeley," Sandy spoke in a gentle voice, "From now on, your brother and I are the real family now. I'm your sister-in-law now."
Josie glared at Sandy. If looks could kill, this woman would have been dead right now.
She had once pitied Sandy so much. She thought that this single woman, raising children and living with her remarried father, must be going through a difficult time.
Since Sandy always claimed she had no education and appeared humble and submissive in front of others, never daring to speak freely, Josie had pitied her and often gave her money, clothes, and bags.
Although she didn't spoil her like she did Keeley, it wasn't too bad. Josie had even wanted to find her a steady job or help her with small business investments. But Sandy had refused, saying she lacked education.
Josie didn't push her, but every time Zim went to his aunt's house, she'd ask him to bring something for Sandy. Yet, Josie never imagined that this woman she had so genuinely pitied would treat her this way.
Sandy noticed the murderous look in Josie's eyes and no longer looked like the meek woman she once was. "You don't need to look at me like that. Zim and I are in love! You don't love Zim. You've only been using him. Otherwise, you would give him a child!"
"A child!" Josie's eyes suddenly widened, her pupils contracting as they turned red.
Sandy leaned against Zim's chest, her delicate hand resting on his body. "Yes, Tommy is the child I had with Zim. I love him, and I'm willing to have children for him, as many as he wants.
"In the future, all our children will take Zim's last name. Zim is a man, a proud and strong man. As long as I can stay by his side, I'll be content."
Zim was clearly pleased by this and raised his head higher, looking at Josie with more disdain and excitement. For countless nights in the past, he had fantasized about the day when he could stand proudly in front of Josie and the entire Godard family.
Today, that fantasy had become a reality. He could finally embrace another woman openly and stand in front of Josie. He could watch Josie grovel at his feet, begging him like a dog.
The cruel truth hit Josie again. She closed her eyes in agony, trembling and crying uncontrollably, then raised her eyes to search for Keeley. At that moment, she still held out her last hope for Keeley.
But in the next second, that final hope was shattered. Keeley rolled her eyes and kicked Josie hard on the head. The sharp heel of her shoe even took a patch of Josie's hair with it. The limited-edition high heels were a gift from Josie to her not long ago.
"Josie, stop looking at me like that! It's no use! I'll always side with my brother! After all these years, I've had enough of living under the Godard family's roof. You think I'm grateful just because you gave me some money and presents? You bribed me to please my brother!
"If you really treated me like a sister, why didn't you do anything when Paisley wanted to kick me out? I ended up suffering outside for so many days!
"You deserve it! I won't care about you!" After saying this, Keeley kicked Josie again.
Watching Josie let out a painful whimper, Keeley felt incredibly satisfied. "Don't blame me. Blame that bitch of a niece of yours, Paisley! Oh, by the way, I forgot to tell you, Paisley is dead! She was blown up!"
Keeley laughed loudly, but then felt a bit disappointed. What a shame, Paisley died so quickly, so early. Otherwise, she would have really liked to torture Paisley just like she did to Josie.
"Zim!" She screamed in anger. The suffocating feeling of being betrayed and despised by the man she loved tore her apart.
